Greetings From The Editor - A Year in Review.

When the Wise Bread team approached me to join as editor, I was stoked. My experience as editor for Isabella On-Line Publication has taught me that there are a lot of people looking for good content on the web. To be able to participate in creating another quality site for a whole different group of people was right up my alley. I also knew that everyone in the team were professional and seasoned people, ready for the task. The last five weeks have been a blast, and I expect the excitement to continue way into this new year.

2006 for Wise Bread

During our first month online we received mentions at Boing Boing, Lifehacker, The Register, Crooks and Liars, IMDB’s Hit List, and the Mother Jones Blog. The bloggers we've recruited have been top notch. My title is "editor" but I don't edit anything. The bloggers get complete independence and we consider this more of a co-opt with them rather than hired help. So forgive us if sometimes we stray off topic. That's just what happens when you have a group of diverse, strong-minded, and talented writers with freedom to write to their heart's content.

Our Year to Come

We’re looking for a designer to spiffy up the site (contact us at tips@wisebread.com if you are one or know someone). We’re also going to add a few more bloggers to our already impressive list of writers. We’re here to serve as much great content as the readers can handle. Optimization, monetization, partnerships and ad services — these are things the tech guys of Wise Bread are diligently working on behind the curtains.

Our Mission for 2007

You bring the small budget, we’ll bring the living large ways. A very intelligent guy says that frugal is the new sexy so it’s time to adjust our lifestyles accordingly. We’ll have more finance advice, shopping secrets, food ideas, work options, and just plain random things. Here’s to the new year!

i only just discovered this site about 2 or 3 days ago (through the champagne on a beer budget blog) and it is already easily one of my favorite reads!

fascinating stuff

the sillier posts like the fish toilet are quite amusing!
