The United Services Automobile Association (USAA) has provided the United States military service members with a broad range of financial products since the 1920s. Those who currently serve or have served in the past, as well as their family members, can choose bank accounts, mortgages, auto insurance, retirement planning options, credit cards, and many other products that also come with exclusive benefits for the military.

USAA is currently one of the only card issuers with cards that have no foreign transaction fees. This is especially beneficial for service members who have to travel and are often located in various countries around the world as part of their jobs. If you are in the military, served in the past, or you are related to someone who is a member or was in the past, you can likely find a credit card with USAA that suits all your needs.

How to Apply for USAA Credit Cards

You can apply for USAA credit cards online at USAA.com by simply answering the questions and filling in the information required. However, in order to qualify for any of the USAA cards, you will need to be a USAA member. Some of the ways you can qualify for membership include being in the U.S. military, or having a parent or spouse who has been or currently is a USAA member. You can also qualify for membership if your spouse has honorably served in the U.S. military.

How to Find the Best USAA Card Promotions

Internet – Our Recommended Option. The best way to find the best USAA credit card promotions is online. Although you will find many other ways to get the promotions, the Internet still provides the most up-to-date offers. Further, you can see if you qualify and apply for the card of your choice right online, from the convenience of your laptop at home. The Internet also lets you research each card and its features, so you know you’re applying for the best card for you.

Mail Offers. You may get mail offers for USAA promotions if you are already a member of USAA. However, it’s unlikely if you aren’t yet a member since mail offers often target specific demographics. The mail offers you could get typically include a promotion for a specific credit card, with instructions to apply online or over the phone.

TV. You won’t see as many TV ads for USAA credit card promotions as you would with other credit card issuers. USAA TV offers often focus on a particular product such as car insurance and the other services the bank is known for providing. TV ads for USAA credit card promotions might include a link to a website or a phone number to apply for that particular credit card.

Magazines/Newspapers.  USAA credit card offers are less likely to be available in magazines or newspapers like some of the other card issuers and offers. If you do come across a USAA credit card promotion in a magazine or newspaper, it will generally focus on one card, and in many cases, may not be the most up-to-date credit card promotion.

Bank Branches. You can also find USAA credit card promotions in bank branches. Fortunately, there are a number of USAA locations worldwide, if you prefer to find credit card promotions inside a bank branch. In these locations, you can find out what the most current credit card offers are, and you can apply in the bank while you are there.

Credit Cards for People with Excellent to Good Credit

Many of the USAA credit cards require excellent to good credit scores, but there are cards available for those with average credit scores. There is also a secured credit card option if you have had credit problems and you are in the process of rebuilding or building. However, you also have to be sure you qualify for membership with USAA. If you don’t qualify for membership, or you don’t see a USAA card that works for you, we recommend that you check out our lists of the best 0% balance transfer cards, best low-interest rate credit cards, best travel rewards cards, and the best cash back credit cards.
