i have been playin runescape for like 5-6 years lol... i love that game it is the best game on the internet other than naruto-arena.com ...... And no i am not addicted to runescape...lol i just love it!!
This complete BS. I have been reading this sight for over a year but it is now coming off my feed. Thanks for the fat-shaming and making up ****. You suck.
Great article, and the end alludes to a point that bothers me a lot-- It seems like these days being "green" is a status symbol. Like "I am better than you because I do x-y-z." Hybrid cars, as Marion mentioned, are a great example of this, especially since there's usually a less-green ulterior motive that accompanies a hybrid purchase (*cough* savings on gas prices).
I once saw a bumper sticker that said "I <3 My Hybrid." And it really frustrated me a lot. It just seems like a lot of people think it's more important to be seen as "green" than to just spend their time practicing it.
My writing skills, which I polished in college, have been an invaluable thing for me to fall back on. Which is funny, because I never studied to become a writer because I thought it wouldn't pay the bills!
Due to some medical and emotional conditions. It went on very fast, fast enough that I have had the chance to really be aware of the changes (instead of accepting them gradually). It's been interesting to me how different life is fat. I'm loosing the weight now, but it's not comming off easily (of course!) or quickly and it's worrying me the difference in lifestlye. YOu're right it in fact, does, cost more to be fat.
I ignore the on-screen warnings and print untill I can't see anything on the page (or read anythign) before installing a new cartridge. In general though, I try to keep as much in digital form as possible- the printing thing is a scam
"Get a degree, it doesn't matter in what, and you'll be able to get a better job." Ok, so now I have two degrees, one a professional degree, and I still struggle every time it's time to get me a new job. Unless you get a technical degree, plan on spending some good amount of time working your way up the corporate ladder or getting some more post-grad degrees in order to find employment.
I ballance my check book weekly and get credit reports every six months (about). I don't have any special sort of security, but I find that being aware of my expenditures works just fine. When there's been a problem on my credit report, I simply write a letter with some documentation to the company that issued it and I is usually off very quickly (they only have 30 days to fix it by law). So far, no problems *grin*.
I loved the point you made about how recycling has become a trend now and no longer something that we use to teach simple, human, lessons (like 'pick up after yourself')
No way -- adoption is EXPENSIVE. You may get a tax credit but unless you are adopting through the foster care system (which costs much less) the credit is not going to cover the thousands of dollars in fees. Sure, if you decide NOT to have children you will save money, but what I wrote was that if you DO have children it may cost you more.
And believe me, Dogatemyfinances, I don't hate fat people, people of size, substantial people, etc. As I said before, I am married to one and love him very, very much.
Very nicely done! I agree on every point. Many times "green" overlaps with some other value I hold, a kind of "win-win", but there's a balance to find in most every situation. It's easy to get tunnel vision and get too focused on one aspect of something and lose sight of the bigger picture. Sorry this is sounding trite, not nearly as well expressed as Linsey's post. Good job, Linsey.
Maybe I didn't have enough English major friends in college, but the ones I did have (4 or 5) are all working low paying jobs and unhappy with their job situation. At my school it seemed like English was the major people took if they couldn't pick a major.
My mother in law on the other hand got her master's degree in English* ** and has worked for one of the US's largest paper companies, one of the US's largest chemical companies and very high up the ranks for a well known motorcycle company.
* Her undergrad was in communications
** Her master's thesis was titled "The structure of the paragraph". Enthralling.
You can hate on whoever you want on your blog: fat people, restrictive religious diets, whatever.
But if you are going to speculate about their increased costs, stats or at least some research would be nice. One (small) example: doesn't being infertile decrease your costs because you either don't have kids or get the adoption credit?
I for one am glad you raised the stewardship point. It's important to let kids know there are other grown up reasons as well for doing their part. Every family has only so many resources to go around, and stewardship is a huge part of managing those resources.
You've made some excellent points in this article.
Regarding frugality and over consumption, it makes me cringe to see the switch to more efficient vehicles pitched as a "green" change. Vehicle production requires a huge amount of energy, probably quite a bit more than is saved by increasing the mpg. Plus, replacing an otherwise serviceable vehicle is not always a frugal move--$22,000 for a Prius would buy a lot of gas for an existing car.
I agree with you that "green is less about being part of something and more about doing your part." Unfortunately, the "green movement" is more about telling people what to do and pushing a socialist political agenda, and has almost nothing to do with personal responsibilty.
You said it very well! Except in cases where extreme frugality leads to overshopping (even buying a billion bottles of FREE shampoo you will never use can be wasteful), I agree. Thanks for the comments!

If I have a house to sell and I'm not under pressure can a self-educated seller come close to the expected appraisal value ... let's say with less than 10% difference?
Mary,
I am still a certified residential appraiser in California, but I have not done an appraisal for ove two years because I do much better in my online business. This is an excellent post. Contact me if you would like to be a guest blogger on my real estate blog.

Fantastic list! I really enjoy citrus in water as well. I drink way to much soda, and this is a good alternative to help keep the body hydrated.
I stumbled.

Being Frugal is Being Green! The problem facing the planet is over consumption. Frugality is reducing your consumption.
Therefore, when you practice a frugal lifestyle, you are in essence, living a green lifestyle as well.
Keep it up!
