My father-in-law survived his childhood eating whatever his uncle could shoot in the woods of New Jersey: squirrels, rabbits, wild turkey, even possum (which was awful, but edible he says). He is 90- it how he survived the great depression.
My parents have 32 acres, and feed the deer on their front lawn. Once a year my dad leans out his window and shoots one, the butcher carves it in exchange for the skin, head and antlers. It is their source of meat all winter long. And my mom gives venison chili as holiday gifts. (My dad used to hunt, but can longer, due to a stroke.)
I plan to go off grid in 3 years. Prone to depression, I am not a candidate for a firearm. But I may learn how to use a cross bow, or trap small game in the most humane way possible.
I live on LI, NY and they just started demanding a license to fish in the ocean! Unconstitutional via open water right of way laws, but untested in court so far. It has made criminals out of poor folk I see fishing to survive. None can afford the 100 and something dollar seasonal fishing license!
Leave your damn phone off! You shouldn't be using a phone, let alone the iphone, in a classroom environment. It is way too easy to cheat with it to name the top reason. We don't need apps for every goddamn thing we do! We've managed for thousands of years without electronics and phones to get things done. I am sick and tired of seeing iphones and droids in teens and young adults hands. I'm all for technology but we DO NOT need to tweet from the bus stop or check your email between classes. You aren't that damn important! Get a phone that makes calls only. Civilization is turning into app crazy anti-social drones who are afraid to go outside without their phone because they don't want to miss anything from facebook. Here's an idea that might help, actually go to your friends house and hang out. Give em a call first before you leave to make sure he's home. Once you are there, turn your phone off, cook up some meat on the grill and drink a beer or smoke a doobie. That's what people used to do. Hell, that's what I'm doing right now.
This article is completely out of date. Free admission was offered in 2009 only. Parking is now $15 dollars per vehicle. My suggestion would be to wait until October and see if Disneyland is offering any specials for admission for 2011 and sign up. Around this time last year, Disneyland was offering free admission in 2010 for anyone who volunteered. We signed up to volunteer 2 hours at a homeless shelter and received free tickets for everyone in our party within 24 hours. I am sure they will be offering something to get guests into the park for 2011.
This is not a wish that would go without upturned noses. For I know that wishing for money is not well received by all. But if I had one financial wish, at this stage in my life, through honesty, I would wish to win a jackpot that is valued at $345 million after taxes and the amount taken out for accepting the lump sum payment. I know how I would use this money, share this money, give this money and extend this money. Hey, what can I say! I'm a big dreamer :)
It depends entirely on the gym. My family is going to be joining the Y because - along with being a member at five different gyms for one price - we are provided child care. As our boy grows up we get discounts on the youth programs that aren't entirely free, and there are work out areas that will be designed for both of us to participate in.
Not to mention the access to the pool, indoor track and basketball/volleyball courts, as well as the access to adult classes that include anything from cooking to working out to music, as well as discounts at camps.
If all you want to do is pay money for a weight room and some exercise machines, I agree its not worth the money. You can work out at home for free, of course, and get the same beneficial workout through calisthenics and online videos. But you can't substitute the supportive community you find at some gyms, which often include free trainers and dieticians to help facilitate weight loss.
This article really reads like a person who has never belonged to a gym or never taken the time to take advantage of all the services such an establishment offers.
Great article. From discussions I have had, people often don't know where they spend their money - that $5 coffee every other day doesn't seem much, but add it up over the month and there's one more bill you could have paid for in cash.
i love to know where my money goes each month - it is not a chore, and I enjoy the challenge. My children have also learned how to track their money and have all spent at least a year traveling overseas relatively simply and easily.
If we simply spent less than we earn, life would be so much less stressful.
I've got another number for you guys. I get them at least once a week and can never catch it in time to ask them to remove me from their list.

Mobile design and development sounds all cool and nice but it is not easy to make it successful as it is very competitive market and until you can offer soemthing great, don't waste your time developing apps
The blackbery, Iphone, and some other telephones have call blockers, or call filters. Certain phone numbers can be auto-blocked if they call you. There are also applications that redirect numbers.
So, if a certain telemarketer is calling you repeatedly, if you get his number, you can set it so that the next time he calls you, it will auto-redirect into 911, or something like that. In that case, the telemarketer will get busted on their own.
I use crush that test flashcards for biology - very useful!

Nice list! As a science student, I like to use Equivalence and a few other "nerdy" apps. Basically the ones found here: http://computersight.com/software/top-10-science-apps-for-the-iphone/

I like it. I think budgeting is the key to a relaxing financial future. When you see your resources grow, budgeting is fun!
checkout listappy from http://samurasolutions.com A nice task management solution.
Another great app to check out - Belua. It's sort of a "smart note-taking" app. Very original idea...
I wouldnt not quit the job until i am 100% sure that business has a regular customer.
Looks like pretty decent list of apps. Thanks for the post. I find Flashcard Touch and Graphing Calculator pretty useful for my studies as well.
Great lineup of apps. Thanks for posting. I also find Flashcard Touch and Graphing Calculator extremely useful as well.

Students who are taking Chemistry should check out Chem Pro:

these are helpful.. but i don't use iphone.. :(
We need to encourage cell phone use in the classroom, and provide an accredited course on for texting and sexting.
Check out Fourpoint. It's a great free GPA calculator/predictor.
Do you know of a way to preserve these noodles? Say freeze or dry them for extended shelf life?
My wish is for enough money to buy safety, healing and compassion for everyone on planet Earth.

How much is happiness worth to you? Perhaps that's how much they should charge? :-)
It doesn't matter if a concept is new or old - I doubt that there is truly much that is "new" in this world. The question is, "Does it work?"
NLP does seem to work. So, regardless of (and because of) it's simplicity, may I suggest we all embrace it?
Who couldn't use a bit more happiness in their life?
Thanks, Henri, for a great piece! :-)
All the best,
Hugh
