We use Google Voice with an Obi box too (and have been happy with the voice quality and ease of use, especially calling to Canada) but I have to say the lack of 911 support worries me, especially with a 1-year-old in the house. Not reading reviews is ignorant. Say for example you want a new camera- well digital cameras are improving year after year with newer and newer features- however, are all those features really necessary for your usage? Reading reviews can help you think about what your requirements are and then when you go to stores and try the camera out you won't be pressed by salesmen who just want to sell a product. This goes not just for big ticket items but also for things like all-purpose gluten free flower or face masks- who really has the money to try these things?
Eyeglasses are more expensive, most likely because of us procrastinators who will pay whatever to use the last of our previous year's Flexible Spending Account.
I had a roommate while in the Army that would set his alarm clock back an hour just so he could hit the snooze a few times. Drove me nuts! Now that I am retired from the Army and selling Medicare supplemental insurance I don't have to get up as early. I actually find myself missing those early mornings. Think I will take your advice and shift to an earlier morning. Pushing that alarm clock out of arms reach.
I always read the reviews if at all possible! Some poor reviews are based on personal preference or even poor shipping, return policies, or customer service! Either way, you learn more about what you'll be receiving. We vote with our dollars, and more information = a more informed vote!
If I found out a merchant tried to sneak in the fee, I would leave the items at the checkout counter and walk away. If everyone does this, the merchant would get the message that they need to build in any expenses into their product so we know in advance as a consumer to decide what an item is worth

However, I think there's still a place for more traditional wedding registries (remember...not so many years ago a wedding registry was a novelty), because they bridge the gap between traditional gifts and cold hard cash. Many older (or simply more traditional) people I know don't feel comfortable giving cash or even a gift card. Also, with a gift registry, guests who aren't super good at using the Internet to send you money can walk into a brick-and-mortar store and have an associate help them print out a list of gifts.

However, I'll also find other stores that sell the same item. Doing this also has the two great side benefits of sometimes letting me find a lower price or a less expensive alternative. I could be mistaken - but if I recall correctly - once you convert a line to digital service - overlaying DSL on top of a POTS line for example, when the power goes out from a natural disaster - so will your DSL line.
What I believe you want is the "dry" POTS service (the analog version of the dry DSL mentioned below) - which is the same type used by alarm companies.
I use Planet Fitness. It's just $10 a month and there's no contract. They've got over 600 locations in 47 states. I feel like this would be easier than these methods...
Cheaper than going to a matinee is to not see movies at all. I haven't seen anything in theaters in several years... As for gifts, years ago, my dozen closest relatives and I made the decision to do a Secret Santa instead of full-on gift-giving. Takes away the uncertainty of knowing whether anyone else will get you a gift and lets us spend quite a bit less than we would otherwise. I would have the same sort of discussion with a significant other about Valentine's Day, birthdays, and anniversaries.
Sunblock bottles are much more expensive than body lotions with sunscreens in them. Compare and see. You might not get the coconut beach fragrance with the body lotions. Also, don't buy special facial sunscreen, just look for moisturizer with the same SPF you want.
The reason Hobby Lobby's prices are high is because not one item is made in the U.S. All of the items are made in China, India & Mexico. Hobby Lobby has a manufacturing plant in China. Most everything is made there and then shipped to the corporate office in Oklahoma. So that is why those pillows were $89.99 or higher. And the reason they are 90% off is because no one will buy them at the original price, customers would rather purchase them @Target or Wal mart or Home Goods
I too have been with ING Direct since 2005. Interest rates were just over 5% back then. Over the years, it appeared that that interest rate dropped considerably. I, having a horrible experience with Capital One years ago, moved my accounts over to Ally bank. There interest rates have consistently been higher than ING for a few years now and it's financially wiser to make the switch. Also, Ally has all of the same benefits as Capital One in addition to having no ATM fee at any ATM, nationwide. The search for a specific ATM is over!
Wow, you are way off. Not all agents will reduce their commission and the agent that is the listing agent doesn't "technically work for you". They work for the seller or if you sign a buyer's agency with them they are a dual agent and are neutral. The agent doesn't get the full commission in most cases either, they have to split it with their broker. You might have saved even more if you would have had your own buyers agent.

Another good way to avoid ATM fees is to use the "cash back" option when purchasing something at the store ;) Helps the store and helps your wallet.
