So pretty much we can either dress like we're from the 1930's or wear Target clothes? I don't think so. American Eagle goes up to size 18, and XXL, Forever 21 goes up to 3X and size 20, online. Torrid has many plus sized clothes, along with Lane Bryant, though they are more expensive. Old Navy has cute clothes and a whole plus size section offering cute clothes for cheap, and so does Dots, Maurices, and Debs stores. All of those have varying styles, and a wide range of price ranges (Torrid and Lane Bryant being most expensive). A lot of other stores also offer plus sized clothing online, like Levi's (on Amazon for cheaper). Fashion Bug also can offer some good styles for the price too. There are so many more too, if anyone wants more suggestions.
We spent a fair amount of money getting repairs done in our attic and then having it insulated. That should help our heating costs this winter. Looking forward to that!
I think my 'expensive purchase' was the biggest purchase I have made and that would be when I bought my house. I had been living in an apartment since I left home and pinched my pennies for a while and bought my house when I was 22. I looked around for a while and finally found my home sweet home. Now, a few years later I pay less for my 4/2 house than what I was paying for my 1/1 apartment. It was definitely worth the big down payment I put on the house!
I bought a LG ductless mini split AC for a fixer upper my wife and I purchased. It is 21.7 SEER, almost twice as efficient as the standard 13SEER most houses have. It also doesn't have any duct losses. As a bonus it has a super filtration system. My suffers from occasional sinus infections and since we got the new AC she hasn't had on. With a roughly 10% savings per year it was a great investment, but just avoiding one allergy induced sinus infection for my wife would have made it worth any price.
Don't forget checks! Bank checks are such a ripoff compared to buying them online. It's unbelievable how much banks try to charge for checks. I always thought I had to buy them from the bank for some reason. But now I only buy them online and feel stupid for waiting so long to do so. But there are a LOT of online sellers so it can take some time to find the best deal. Cheapochecks.com is a good place to start though.
I like going to sporting events. In my area, I prefer to go to soccer matches and I found that joining a supporters group not only introduces you to new people, but you right away like the same thing(s).
I can't believe I've converted but I have. I won't go back. Shampoo is so full of kak. I'm trying to convince my husband that I deserve a new handbag for all the money I'm saving us!
Easy: For the past 25 years I've always purchased Honda Accords. I've driven them all over the country and have yet to experience any problem whatsoever. Toyotas are excellent and usually top-rated, but in my estimation you just can't beat Honda automobiles for quality, efficiency and reliability. Just be sure to make oil and filter changes about every 7,500 miles (not the money-wasting 3,000-miles that are no longer needed) and you'll save plenty of money on maintenance. If Honda quit making cars, I'd buy Toyotas.
Points to ponder, great article. I thought the same for many years, I'm 5'8 tall just 5kg over my required BMI. Never set foot in a Gym. From what i believe it's all about right food in right quantity. Simple as that. Bit of walk to and from office is all i got now.
Why do you have to burn any calories if you do not have anything in excess to burn?
I read most comments in this article but non of the comments which disagree the article has not mentioned that they are qualified to disagree. I would love to see a Dr perspective on this.
Going to to gym to get away from home, have some time for your own or to feel positive that your doing something good etc makes perfect sense. However doing it for sake of diet is absurd.
This seems like a brag, but it's actually a personal system. Always when we're out shopping, receipts are saved in my wallet. When we get home, I balance the checkbook and save what receipts need to be saved then throw out the others.
The best expensive purchase I've made so far was a bread maker machine! Not only do I know what I'm feeding my family (no preservatives) but I am able to freeze up the bread for anytime we'd like to have it. The whole house smells divine when it's baking!
I think you'd like Cal Newport's new book, So Good They Can't Ignore you. He speaks to your point in one chapter, only he refers to it as thinking big and acting small, until you have the career capital to make big moves without falling on your face.
Nannying is the perfect part-time job for anyone who likes (or can at least stand) kids. Not only do a lot of families pay quite well, but you can make money just playing games, helping with a little homework and cooking some food. I did this throughout college to make some money, and it was the perfect way to put some extra cash in my pocket!
I really like this post. The reason so many people fall short of reaching there goals is because they make the mistake of making on lofty one, instead of small achievable ones. I think if more people understood the concept you explain in this article, there would be a lot more happy and satisfied people around. Very helpful!
So much yum here. I've also done the weekday-morning pancake thing by making a batch of batter at the beginning of the week, and cooking just a couple of pancakes each morning.
I wonder how often people still give photos in a frame. I think I want to make it my trademark.I think I'm going to print this list and hand it to my kids.;0)

Thanks for including my post about sneaky ways to save money while selling a car! I really appreciate it!

i find question 21 very funny and by reading this article, i had a better understanding. Thanks
Our condo, which is less than rent!

Avid Ebayer here! Love the site so much as it saves so much money buying things that others wouldn't find useful at all.

You can also use it in place of Alkaline up/+ if you have a swimming pool. It's much cheaper.

Happy to hear you like my articles, Johnny. Thanks for letting me know that and brightening my day.
What a nice compliment. Thanks, Karen!
Did the Amazon trick, worked perfectly. Thanks for the advice!

These are some great tips as always.:0)
