Our financial resolution for this year is to buy a house for investment with 20% down payment. We are also planning to invest internationally. Below are the small size goals:
1. 6 months emergency fund (already done. but need to maintain it)
2. Move travel (both domestic and international) fund to savings account for a better interest
3. Invest all the money after emergency fund + some cushion
4. Stick to the budget no matter what the situation is
5. Have a financial meeting during the first week of every month.
My resolution is to save at least 25% of the down payment for my first home! My strategies include 1) taking up an additional job / free lance opportunity 2) setting aside $1,300 per month 3) Make my own food and eat healthier while only allowing myself to eat out once per week or for special occasions like birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, vacations, etc.
Your whole comment has a couple of biases, which perhaps you don't realize. You assume first of all that 1 income means someone is staying at home "The partner who stays at home...", then you assume that the jobs for the stay at home partner are gender dependent/limited. Neither of which are true.
This really was my first thought. I married a grown-up, and am so glad I did. Since we marry the one we choose, not the one "arranged" for us, why are we not choosing more wisely?
These are great ideas. I hate taking over the counter medicines because they don't agree well with my stomach. I'm always trying to find ways to feel better without having to resort to pills.
I find a healthy diet works best. Not only does it keep you from getting sick in the first place, if you do get sick it is much less severe.
Try using sunflower oil...better for you than Canola Oil (which is really machinery oil BTW). I use my foodprocessor...mix eggs, vinegar etc first, then slowly add oil - keep machine running the entire time...takes less than 5 mintues!
My 2013 financial goal is to share what I have learned with my son and daughter-in-law to help them improve their financial situation and to provide the seed money monthly for a fund for my 3 month old grandson so that he will be better off as he gets older.
Nice list you have there. #5 will surely help. Worst case scenario is you already don't have money then making yourself another burden by using your credit card and will add up on your problem on how to allocate funds to pay for those credits.
You can also fill nail/tack holes on the wall is you use the white toothpaste. Just fill the hole and let it completely dry. Then wipe off excess with a damp rag.
sanitary products for women
a bushcraft knife
a deck of cards (for morale!)
a spare cellphone battery (charged) and a prepaid sim card for another network
zip lock bags for keeping small items dry
Thanks Julie for detailed information to choose an online broker. I am a forex and stock broker but first time came through such step by step guidance regarding online brokers.
We're focusing on one of our credit cards, at the moment. I'd really love to make a huge dent in it this year, but any sized dent is better than none at all! :)
1. Get milk, vanilla, sugar, salt, ice
2. In a sandwich bag, put in the milk (1/2 cup) vanilla ( 1/2 teaspoon) and sugar (1 tablespoon)
3. Put ice cubes(4-5 cups) and salt (5 tablespoons) into a gallon bag or a grocery plastic bag. Put the sandwich bag full of the ice cream mix
4. Shake or just freeze with no salt and ice cubes.
Shake till frozen.
I'd also like to add that investors should make sure to look beyond the name brands. Lightspeed, Interactive Brokers, and Just2Trade all charge less than $2.50 per trade, while still offering great service.
And if you're looking to transfer accounts, check out which brokers will cover ACAT fees. TradeKing, tradeMONSTER and OptionsHouse will all help to cover your fees.
My resolution is to put my twins through their first year of college without adding any debt. It appears my son might attend a rather expensive school, which means my planning skills will be pushed!
Good idea about the clothes shopping and getting things when it is on clearance - I was thinking of notebooks and pens and those types of supplies. Thank you for your comment!
I also received one of these unsolicited cards. I called and asked why I received this card that I had not requested. I was told they would cancel account. I'm shredding the card.
To Guest: You obviously have credit issues and need this card. For those of us who do not have credit issues it is a great concern to us when we start receiving unsolicited cards with our name on them whether they are credit or debit cards. We work hard to keep our credit in good standing and don't need someone sending cards to our homes that can be stolen and used. If this card is so great why don't you use your name when you post comments on this?
THIS IS A SCAM DO NOT ACTIVATE AN UNSOLICITED CARD OF ANY KIND. IF YOU WANT A CARD IT SHOULD BE ONE YOU HAVE APPLIED FOR.

Trying to stay within our budget better.
Why are you going through dozens of hand towels a day? I'm totally OCD, and I only had one pack of 4 that worked just fine...
I've had success using a spoonful of honey for quelling a throat-ticking cough. Tastes a lot better than cough syrup, too!

Save more than I spend.

Banana peels finely sliced & put around roses bushes helps to keep aphids away, have tried it & it works.
This is a wonderful guide to brokerage accounts.

Believe it or not, the peel is good for hemorrhoids, too.
Steam works best for me. I invested in a humidifier and it was paid me back more times than I can count. I love the power of steam!
Awesome! :)
