i should pack my lunch way more than i buy it ... jimmy john's is a HUGE weakness for me. :)
but i'm definitely trying to pack lunch more! i liked you on facebook too.
These are some great resources. I've been dating my boyfriend for 2.5 years and we've been debating whether we should combine finances since we live together and split everything anyway. It's kinda challenging though because I make slightly more than him, yet we split everything 50/50, which leaves him with less spending money. I'm leaning toward combining finances or working out a ratio thing where we pay according to how much we make.
Smartest investment ever was buying stock in the Walt Disney Company. We invested by using the DRIP (dividend re-investment program) and had $$ taken out of our bank account monthly. Painless stock investment, with the dividends put to buyng additional stock.
I love shopping on eBay, I've been using the website http://www.bargainchecker.com recently which helps search for misspellings and also has a last minute section which you mention, plus a local bargain finder which is sometimes handy :)
I'm brown baggin' it Mon thru Thurs. Typically, I'll make extra for dinner and that will be lunch the next day. That way, I can buy lunch from the gourmet food trucks at the Grub-N-Go in Brea, CA on Fridays. Five to six trucks show up at the Chase Suites Hotel providing extraordinary mouthwatering cuisines. I wish today was Friday....
When I worked, I packed a lunch almost every day. Great savings. Now I stay at home with kiddo and we eat lunch at home every day, making sure to eat leftovers first. Last time we drove to visit family, we packed a picnic and ate out of the back of the car. Lots of fun and way cheaper and healthier than dropping $20 or more on crappy fast food.
"It's the community that will help you." Well said, Maggie. I'm paying mortgage for my modest home and fortunately not facing a similar situation (yet). I've got a couple of friends who've had to move out last year but I haven't known anyone with such incredible resilience til I read your story. Keep it up!
The smartest investment I ever made was a case of beer. I gave it to a kind machine-shop owner in return for his taking a look at a busted motorcycle crankcase, and managed to parlay the small favor into work at his shop. A great way to learn machining!
PBR will always be my budget beer of choice. As someone who could be considered a "beer snob," I normally drink Belgian beer with a higher alcohol content (8-9 percent). It costs more, but I only need a couple glasses before I'm feelin' pretty good. On a hot summer day, however, I reach for Pabst, and prefer it hands down over other macrobrews.
Hi Guest!
You can look at this as an opportunity to revise your style...matchy-matchy might just not work for you anymore. Give it a try. Myself, I try to down play my accessories and choose only one thing that is really remarkable (in your case the gold purse). If you still had the gold shoes there would be some distraction (two points of flash that draw the viewer's eye). If you carry yourself with confidence, the gold bag will fit in anywhere and might become a great conversation starter. And isn't that one of the points of fashion --- draw attention to yourself so you can do the next thing, engage with others?
Just some suggestions,
Cheers!
I dont really have anyone to cover my duties during lunchtime so I bring lunch everyday..its a savings on gas and my wallet going out to eat plus im eating healthier!
I don't have to pack a lunch. I can come home for lunch every day since I work just a couple of blocks up the street. I love that. I eat the leftovers and since I usually cook pretty food-I don't mind! I pack lunches for my kids most days. Sometimes I put leftovers together for my husband to take to work...and he usually forgets about them! It definitely saves $, prevents waste and is healthier!
To date the smartest investment we have made would be in our house. We have no debt and are working rapidly to pay it off. Once it is paid off we plan on living in it for a few years and then upgrading. Which means our paid off house will become an income property! We'll love that extra $1000 a month!
The smartest investment I made was a liberal arts college degree. I feel it made me quite well-rounded, including study of culture, arts, religion, communication, and other topics that are critical to success in life and in business besides specific technical skills.
I don't understand why anyone pays for ringtones, but I've got a 60+ year old family member that just bought a new phone and is complaining she has to repurchase several of her ringtones. I've never bought anything for my phone except a car charger.
When I'm working a 40 hour week, I will pack my lunch almost daily. I do like to go out for lunch at least once a month with coworkers, but not more than once every two weeks.
My son eats lunch at school everyday except Wednesdays, when it's "gross lunch day" and he won't eat any of the cafeteria choices. On days he takes his lunch, he usually still buys milk at school.

Pack that lunch! My husband and I love leftovers so I look forward to my lunch each day. Plus, I get to feel smug because of the savings!

I pack a lunch or go to the Safeway by the office if I was in a rush. Thursday I splurge and head to the farmers market!

Paul,
Can you also give the samsung model that was awful. I'm now worried about the stainless steel lined one we ordered.

I always pack my lunch.
I pack my lunch, but sometimes buy a little extra (a drink or snack) to "fluff it up."

I buy lunch out, only make it when I am home

I tend to buy out most of the time but I am trying to bring my lunch more often. Right now I am aiming on bring my lunch 50% of the time.
