I'm on the other end of this. I'm actively *trying* to relocate; I've been trying for almost a year. Of course, I'm trying to relocate to a specific location (where I lived some years back), and their employment figures are pretty close to where I am now. If I can find a job there, I've already got everything planned out; I'll be there in a shot!

A side note here, when you enter a private business facility where the owner has the right the deny you entry, which by the way is a fundamental American privilege of business, then you are consenting to release some expected right to privacy. If it is a policy of that store that your patronage is contingent on ensuring that the items in your cart match your receipt or you don't have something you didn't pay for when the alarm goes off, then sorry but your Fourth Amendment was checked at the door. This does not provide a business the right to search you for no reason, but they can confirm the above mentioned things. It is the same principal as your state demanding you have you a driver's license to be able to drive and having to provide that to a police officer when asked. Your ability to drive is based on your having consented to licensing and producing that license. It is not a right it is a privilege. I am a police officer who by the way is college educated with an undergraduate degree in American Constitutional Law (Political Science) from a major US University. So I speak from first hand knowledge, not street lawyer speculation.
@Sonja -- Millet's great! I find two cups water to one cup millet is the way to go. Simple bring it to a roiling boil, then turn down the heat and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes. (just like rice).
Cooking it straight out of the package will yield a softer texture, perfect for hot cereal (I like it with honey, yum!). I followed a tip I read somewhere to toast the millet first if you want the grains to retain more of their shape. Just stir the grains around in the pan over heat for a few minutes before adding the water. It's more like cous cous that way.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you write next :)
@DaddyPaul: Unfortunately our household can't have rye. (sad face.) But I had no idea it contained less gluten than wheat. I love reubens....mmmmm..seurkraut. Seriously, every time I'm away from my home by myself, I feel like I'm cheating on my husband with gluten. Such a toxic fling...but man...yummy stuff.
@Beth: I'll be researching the millet. Thanks for the new grain to explore. I do love quinoa, but it is pricey. I validate it just because it has protein and fiber...excuses, I know. I just love it. But I'll have to try the millet.
@guest"great post": You must be my mother. Thank you for the kind words.

I live in the south, and we get plenty of sun and hot temps in the summer. Having shade trees cover part of your house really can help your air conditioner keep up in those really hot days.
If you have a house with shade trees, I hope you are appreciating it.
The great way to make sure your card isn't swiped out from under you while on vacation, is to call the credit card company to advise them of your trip, and that you'll be using your card abroad.
I am not very creative, or very handy. If it looks like cleaning is the only issue, I will wash or wipe down and use it myself or offer it to a friend. If there are no takers, I donate it to the thrift shop next time I go. Often, however, I just leave things and hope that someone with a more creative or handiman (or woman) bent will see it and make use of it.
I collect cans and bottles, papers and clothes from my own stock or from neighbors and tried to recycle most things
If there were something potentially valuable, sure. But most of the time, I prefer to give things charities.
Could you please write a bit more about education over internet, I mean when it comes to universities, colleges, have you found any particularly well prepared to give education this way?
Hey , this is interesting,
and debt- free situation occurs when you can freely appreciate more space, more creativity
thanks for this article

Good info for all of us wending our way through the gluten-free forest. I also saw your article on kitchen tools for the gluten free life. Next: a book on frugal gluten-free living? I'm for it!
When you pay for years and then suddenly go to a refund, you look forward to a refund. My husband changed his W4 form to exempt only one. I am currently not working. In a couple of months we plan to change the w4 form to exempt 0 when he receives a pay raise. I do not care about loaning the gov an interest free loan. If we did not do this we would not save, we would spend it. Sadly, we have to make some sacrifices as a result!!
My aunt has a consignment shop so I take good clean usuable stuff that I no longer want to her and use the money for savings. If I have dirty trashy stuff I throw it away. No way to recycle much where I live.
I feel your pain, all of you. I was fortunate enough to find a company that is legitimate. Now I know that the banks the news and government say we shouldn't go to any company that charges, that the banks will modify your loans for free. Well, how many of us on here have had our loans modified by the banks? A lot have lost their homes, and lot more still will unless you do what's necessary to save your homes from the banks. I went through what most of you have, I was there. Then I was referred to Corey Lassiter of Clear Image Financial Group. They saved my home. I know I would have lost it to Wachovia if it wasn't for him, Tasha, Denise and the rest of the people who work there. Got me caught up on my mortgage 1st & 2nd, lowered my interested rate & payment, and secured me a 50k principle reduction. Before anyone else on here loses their homes you need to give them a call 877-940-1477 ext 231. Corey Lassiter. Don't be afraid of hiring a loan modification company, be afraid of the banks, they are the ones who are taking our homes!
This question comes at a good time, since my husband and I recently moved to a new home and were faced with the fact that we had accumulated more than any two humans should possess. Since we'd made the decision to downsize in large part because we both wanted to simplify our lives, we tackled "decluttering" with enthusiasm. Here's some of what we did (and continue to do):
* we are taking several valuable pieces of furniture to a consignment store.
* we've used Craigslist to sell several pieces of inexpensive furniture as well as electronics and household goods.
* we used the "free" section of Craigslist to give away things that we did not have the energy to sell, but that we felt might be useful to others.
* we used the "free" section of Craigslist to give away the boxes we'd used for packing -- we got them in the first place through a similar listing on Craigslist.
* we will ask Habitat for Humanity to pick up a few pieces of furniture and household goods that we realized wouldn't work in our new home AFTER we'd moved.
* We donated bags and bags of clothing to Goodwill.
* We've sold dozens of our used books and CDs on amazon.com.
* we're considering engaging a trading assistant to sell some things for us on ebay.
* I put together "goodie bags" of art supplies that I had duplicates of or new I wouldn't use, and set them aside for two friends that I thought would be interested in them.

I hate double dipping, it is definitely one of my pet peeves.
It seems that being gluten free is not so hard after all. I guess I just had it as a mental barrier all along.
