As weird as it sounds, I look forward getting it done and off my mind I don't like waiting till crunch time. Also after discovering TurboTax software it has been a lifesaver. It gives me a little high as it racks up the amount I'll be expecting....like a cash register. Very satisfying feeling. I'm a dork.
I get anxious around tax time since it determines how much college financial aid for the year. I'm on my own, so every bit counts. Otherwise, I like knowing what the difference is between how much I make and how much I have left.
That last couple of years, we have been lucky enough to get money back, which is nice. I use tax prep programs and like seeing the numbers add up while I input data. But the real reason that I like doing taxes is that I spend a great deal of time organizing throughout the year to keep track of our finances and financial data. This is one of the few times a year that it comes in handy and makes all of the work worth it. So, the process is quick, easy and painless while others dread it and procrastinate.
I actually look forward to tax time. I don't have to file, but I volunteer with Tax Aide to do others returns. It is such a pleasure to help others and I have made a lot of friends that I only see once a year.
Each year there are more and more tax prep software to try out, plus I do paper/calculator as well, but no matter what, each option gives me a different final answer. How is it that I enter the same numbers but get different refund/amounts owed? So, no, I dread tax time because it is total confusion.
I don't fear or favor tax time. We always do our taxes early, and usually receive a large enough refund to pay our state taxes with some left over. Sometimes, it is a wash, but sometimes there is enough left over for a little bit of fun. One year, it helped us save for a trip to Disney World, another, a down payment for a newer car. This year, with cuts and such, we are hoping to break even at least. We see a refund as something to use wisely, but not to depend on it. The old saying that there is nothing sure but death and taxes? Sad, but true.
I normally despise it. I always have to itemize, as I have a home office, but this year, I sort of look forward to it because I can take more credits. We adopted a little boy, so that would make another dependent and the adoption credit. Look forward to hopefully paying off some debt, at least a little.:-)
We look forward to our tax refund. We've gone to a CPA the last 10 years and it's made a huge difference in the refund we receive. We intentionally have more taken out than we need to, and we understand the financial arguments against that, but it really works like a savings account for us. We would not save that amount of money on our own right now. One day, that will change and we'll adjust our deductions accordingly. But, right now it works for us and I can't wait to get that check!
I used to enjoy getting all my financial information together and doing my own taxes because it really let me see where I stood (and the refund I usually got helped). Then my husband and I both started our own businesses and things got complicated, much fun getting the information together and having to wait to see whether we get money back or have to pay. It's also not as easy to recognize tax-reducing strategies for next year without doing the return myself and seeing all the possible deductions.
I enjoy tax time! Since I started using tax prep. software, I've found tax prep to be fast and easy. We have been getting a refund the past few years, so I look forward to that.
I found this article just in time. I was just lamenting the fact that my food budget has doubled now that we are eating healthy.
I am spending 250 a week to feed a family of four relatively modestly but trying to get more fruits, veggies, lean proteins into us. It IS expensive.
By going by the FDA food pyramid and giving each family member according their age and sex the appropriate number of servings of each item this is what it cost.
People earning min wage or even double min wage aren't going to be able to afford that.
I have no issues with food subsidies for the poor, I support them, but we really need to differentiate between calories and nutrition.
For a related read, I'd recommend Elizabeth Warren's (of All Your Worth) Two-Income Trap.

I don't mind tax time.... I have an accountant to do my forms and a check from the Goverment to look forward to later.

Taxes are a pain to do, but because I don't make a ton of money, I usually get a nice bit of cash as a refund. So I look forward to that!

This is some particularly good advice, especially if you shop for "fresh" fresh fish. Like, the stuff not at your big box retailers.
You can save tons on fish bought from framer's markets, but you need to know what you're looking for

It seems dreadful but then when the time comes it feels great to get it over with.
I am always eager to do taxes. A combination of getting money back and the feeling of accomplishment in settling accounts for the old year.
It depends on whether I have to pay more taxes or I get a refund. This year I anticipate some kind of refund, so they'll be completed by February.
Well, I like if we get a refund, but I hate collecting everything together and hoping we don't forget anything.
It's kind of interesting doing my own taxes, but it's definitely not fun having to pay.
