Fiat Chrysler, eager for a deal, can't seem to entice a buyer for itself, and its CEO Sergio Marchionne is having a difficult time convincing his industry there is a need for consolidation. That's according to The Deal's senior writer Lou Whiteman. Working against the automotive group is its high leverage, despite making progress on paying down debt. And its European division continues to suffer from performance and overcapacity, particularly in its home market of Italy. Fiat Chrysler is also in need of piles of cash to refresh and redesign its car line-up. This is all happening while the auto maker faces questions over the quality of its vehicles.
