Corporate social responsibility (CSR) means different things to different people. From a company's perspective, it can be an effective way to tap corporate resources to drive positive social change, and it often includes programs that promote employee volunteerism and philanthropy—from matching charitable donations to organizing employee volunteer projects and more. While some people view CSR programs with skepticism, most prefer working for and doing business with companies that support the communities in which they operate.

Corporate social responsibility means that community is just as important as business and profit. I do believe it can be impactful.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an intentional business strategy of understanding and addressing stakeholder interests in the pursuit of profit and other business purposes.
The base premise of CSR is that businesses can do well (i.e., make profit) by doing good. CSR is a foundation for business sustainability. CSR has evolved to the "triple bottom line" of business of financial, human and environmental objectives, goals and measures.
The activities of CSR go beyond human rights, governmental compliance, ethics and license to operate. Likewise, CSR is more than promotion and public relations. CSR can be measured by traditional business evaluation methods, including return on investment (ROI). CSR is a business strategy that allows businesses to leave a lasting legacy while pursuing profit.
I view CSR as a company's responsibility towards society and the environment being important guiding factors for the future.
It means supporting the community that supports the corporation. If every cooperation would do this, imagine all the things that they could do!
Corporate social responsibility is the idea that corporations should have responsibility to the society. This can include paying employees appropriate wages, being eco-friendly, giving back to the community etc. Yes, I think corporations can make a huge difference in the world we live in. The US is a capitalistic society and I believe in it. I think the market can determine the success of our economy. That being said, I choose to not purchase items from companies with questionable social responsibility. I think that is much more effective than laws which they can just get around.
Corporate Social Responsibility means that the business gives back to the community, through volunteer work, or community events (for example, relay for life). Doing so, gives the impression to their consumers that they care about more than just profits, and it's also a way for the employees to feel good about the positive changes they're bringing, and boost team work amongst coworkers.
Corporate social responsibility means to me by being responsive to those who purchase from them and there needs to be transparency and stand behind their product. It can be impactful because people gain a sense of trust about the company and the product itself.
Corporate Social Responsibility means giving back, both to the community and to the employees. A company is at its best when the employees are treated fairly and appreciated and the community believes in and appreciates the company.

To me corporate social responsibility means that companies should be setting goals to improve the environment and protect earth's resources instead of harming the environment or using too many resources.
To me corporate social responsibility means that businesses must keep in mind the needs of the community and ensure that the well being of society and of the environment is not sacrificed by the business' profit goals, but enhanced.
To me, corporate social responsibility means taking responsibility and acting morally and ethically. Corporations should run in a way where they not only do not harm the citizens and the environment, but actually are beneficial to both. If companies did this it would have a huge impact.
Corporate responsibility is fantastic all around -- employees feel better and the world becomes a little bit better place to live.

To me, Corporate Social Responsibility means a company doing its part in taking care of the world and its inhabitants (human or not). This could be by cleaning up inner cities, or even natural landscapes. This could be by allowing employees paid time off to help tutor children/adults for free. This could be donating funds to an non-profit that helps men and woman find free clothes to wear for job interviews. This could mean hosting parties to honor people who give selflessly of themselves to help the world become a better place for all of us to live in. The ways a company can to implement its Corporate Social Responsibility program(s) is truly limitless--anything that can help better nature, flora, fauna, human beings, education, fighting racism, teaching others new skills, allowing employees to volunteer for non-profit organization, etc.
Most important, though, is that any company that takes on a Corporate Social Responsibility role is that is it SINCERE, not looking for kudos and appreciation. Adding its belief in Corporate Social Responsibility to its Mission Statement would mean a lot to me.
I have seen for myself how Corporate Social Responsibility can have an impact. One of my brothers has been allowed to leave work and teach English as a Second Language for free to immigrant farmworkers. One of those farmworkers was able to teach others, and then that person started teaching English as well. :)
Corporate social responsibility should start with fairness, honesty, & incentives with their own employees first. Then being a part of the solution for any number of social charities in their local community with a combined effort of the executives and employees as a united front.

More than just "do no harm", corporate responsibility means structuring your efforts so that promoting positive, do-good community results are baked-in from the get-go!

It proves that making money is not all that is important. It is about giving back. caring about people and consumers and knowing that those contributions to society make the world a better place.
