I have three favorites! 1) potluck get-togethers in friends' backyards (and living in NYC, it's extra special); 2) exploring new neighborhoods with my camera, and then treating myself to either an ice cream or some sort of iced drink/smoothie; and 3) packing up a picnic and a blanket, and heading to Central Park for some reading, games and people watching. All of these make me so happy and end up costing so little compared to many of the other things to do in NYC!
I second tha Harbor Freight idea. For most of my tool purchases they are for an immediate need to get a job wrapped up or started. For a one time use these tools an save you tons of money. While the HF tools are not as good, they get the job done, they just don't last as long. That is the difference between a cheap tool and a nice name brand tool is they are built to last when they are a made by Milwalkee, or Rigid etc. I am a master carpenter and a master plumbing. Even with my work not all tool purchase require a top of the line tool.
We love to go tubing down the river! I pack us up a water proof bag full of sandwiches & snacks, then go.
The other thing we love to do, is to take people who have never camped before, and take them over night camping. It's so much fun watching other families joyful reaction to how much fun camping real is on a dime budget.
Both my wife and I have been married since 2000. I have always been generous to a fault. I allow her to make a decision about things even though I know it's not the right one. That's me, my choice. We had to sell our first house together as she didn't want to work full time and I couldn't do it on my own. I have always paid the lion's share of the household expenses and not worried about it until now. Fast forward 16yrs and we are earn around about the same, with my wife on a little more take home. All but £100 of my wage goes to pay the rent. My wife pays the bills. Runs a car, smokes and buys clothes every month and can still save money every month? I claimed the % shared as a married couple seem a little unfair and sudgested we split everything down the middle, that way we could both have available finances to entertain etc........ She flipped. Went into a big argument. Am I being unreasonable at thinking the 85 / 15 split is unfair. Or is she right saying that "Your the husband, it's Your job to provide".
The reason I chose this helpful advice.....some of us cannot afford to have a
professional Spa Treatment. I am one of those people. Yes it would be wonderful
to have a professional treatment, that is if you can afford it! I found this article
very helpful and look forward to my "At Home Spa Treatment"!
Thank you for this article !
For frugal summer activities, we take advantage of our theaters cheap movies for the kids. We also enroll in our bowling alleys 2 free bowling games for kids all summer long! Great programs and cheap too!
The core difference is that frugal people are saving money in order to have a good life. They denied themselves often, for a their big goal.
While cheap people just saving money every chance they get, even in the expense of others.
So if your money saving means someone else would suffer, (e.g. not tipping, feeding your children's crap, resteep used tea bags for guests) you're cheap.
If you are the only one suffering (e.g. spend time couponing, wait for sales, shop less) you're frugal.
One has to wonder how many of these comments are by credit card company trolls.
There is absolutely nothing positive about using a card and if you are a small business you are killing yourself by taking them.
I repaired my credit score(s) from a dismal 600 across the 3 credit bureaus Transunion, Experian and Equifax using Capital One Platinum secured credit card with an initial credit limit of $200. In April of 2013 after receiving my secured card I would add $100 per month until I had a credit line of $800. After a year of responsible use my scores increased to 680+ and after 2 negatives dropped off in June of 2015 my scores improved to 740+ across all the credit bureaus. On July 17, 2015 I was approved for the unsecured Capital One Quicksilver card with a $5,000 credit limit. A secured credit card is a excellent tool to repair a low credit score or help re-establish ones credit history.
If U lend out money, always get collateral. Then the new CD PLAYER, IPOD, or Laptop PC your friend gave U after he or she borrows money from U is yours if the "friendly borrower" cannot pay U back. And or if I ever borrow money from a friend I always show that I have excellent credit and the financial firepowers to win earn and or be granted enough moneys to pay my friend back that I usually see or here from nearly every week or every other day. That's the way the money monsters of borrowing and paying back rolls in my businesses.
Although the Capital One Platinum secured Mastered is not listed, this was the card I used to rebuild my credit starting in 2013. With a $200 initial deposit in April of 2013 and credit scores in the very low 600's across the 3 credit bureaus. I was able to increase my scores in the 750+ range after 18 months of responsible use (no missed or late payments and keeping my credit utilization between 10% to 20%.} On July 17, 2015 I was approved for a Capital One Quicksilver Visa card with a $5,000 credit limit. The Capital One secured Platinum Master card is an excellent card to build or re-establish ones credit profile if used responsibly with the 3 credit bureaus Transunion, Experian and Equifax. Its like having "financial" training wheels!
That's a nice suggestion, Guest. Munis are exempt from federal taxes and from most state and local taxes, especially if you live in the state in which the bond is issued. My only suggestion is to take a close look at the history of payments from the state, municipality, or county. Some of them have defaulted in their payments in the past.
We love to go to the beach and spend the day there.

I love to go to the library - the AC is on COLD, and you have magazines, computers and books to enjoy.

My favorite frugal summer activity is hiking the local trails.
Our city has movies under the stars during the summer and it's free. It's fun to take the kids and go.

I love to go on hikes, to the park or to the beach.
We have a park almost across the street that has free concerts in the summer. That and walking to our farmer's market every wednesday evening.
Long walks with my favorite podcasts by the water!

I love to take my daughters to the local pool. They have free entrance to those who live in the city and my girls have a blast!
I like to lounge at the pool at my apartment complex and read magazines.
