That's a good list! One other inexpensive DIY project is to add a shelf in a closet. Provided there is adequate space away from lighting, many clothes closets have wasted space near the ceiling. I have added an additional shelf in all our clothes closets to take advantage of the top one foot.
What I enjoy most during the Christmas holidays is spending time with my family. I really enjoy baking cookies with my kids - some are for us and some we give as gifts. I usually make potato soup on Christmas Eve, either with shrimp or ham. We also have homemade bread and tossed salads.
I have to admit, the food is a big part of it for me. I love so many of the baked goods associated with the holidays: peanut butter blossom cookies, buckeyes, spritz cookies, Champagne, etc., etc.
One of my favorite parts of the Christmas season is our town's Open House. The first Friday of December, the streets are blocked off, the stores are open late, the high school steel drum band plays and friends and family come out for a night of shopping, food, and fun. Even better if there are light, fluffy flakes of snow falling when the steel drum band plays "Sleigh Ride"!!
My favorite thing about the holidays is seeing all the Christmas lights and blow-up lawn decorations. I bike commute to work and the ride home is always very pretty. I even get a little extra riding in as I check out different neighborhoods on my bike.
The thing I love most about the holidays is the food! I like eating ham at Christmas. I also love all the cookies, cakes, breads, and pastries. The holiday tradition we celebrate is baking and giving people gifts of baked goods.
