After reading about all the different cluttering types, I'm definitely a sentimental clutterer. I wouldn't say that I have too many things that I've held on to, or would ever run the risk of becoming one of those people on hoarders, but I do have trouble throwing/giving things away because of what they mean to me, or having that "what if I need this in the future" voice holding me back.
For me, frugality is freedom.
Frugality is freedom to live without worrying whether I can pay the bills or make it to the next paycheck without an overdraft. It also means freedom from insecurity and not having to worry about what everyone else thinks about your clothes, your car, and your lack of high-tech gadgets. Frugality means the freedom of choice. If I want travel, take a class, or take time off work, I always have that option. Frugality means pride in being self-reliant. If I run into an emergency or unexpected expense, I can handle it myself and not have to burden family or friends by asking them for money.
For over 25 years we have had Friday night set aside as "Family Fun Night". Our kids looked so forward to this and have told us it was one of the highlight of their growing up. As small fries we cooked, baked, played games, rented movies, went out to all types of activites. As teens, they had their friends, their "dates" & neighbors over and we all had a blast! Sometimes everyone would go camping, go to concerts, go to football games etc... Other times we hit the pool or beach together. Bad weather was "game night" or a taffy pull with old fashioned movies. We had pot lucks and caroling @ nursing homes. No matter what was happening in our lives, we always had that one night set aside. The cost for all the memories of being together, having frugal fun...priceless.
Very great idea, ended up trying this as soon as I saw it. I ended up crying as well after I tried it. Still not sure exactly what I want to do in life but this definitely helped me realize what I feel is important to me. Thank you.
since the conversation is about buy and hold vs trading, I would have to put myself in the middle. My definition of long term is when the current trend ends whether it is bullish or bearish. As a technician I am reasonably confident in deciding whether to be short or long and for how long. I probably use those same technical indicators that are referred to in the original post and they have performed very well over time. People who try to trade need to realize how different strategies work at different stages of the market. There is no one fool proof/catchall strategy. That is what most people look for and why most people fail. You are going to get conflicting information the decisions you make with that information is what makes you successful. You can follow my thoughts on my blog regarding the moves in the stock market on my blog: http://everyinvestor.blogspot.com/ . Good Luck everyone.
Trying to use your conscious willpower to achieve what you want is very often the wrong angle to tackle a personal issue, and getting up in the morning is no different. The best way is to just hand it over to your subconscious mind and let it control your body as if is it was a robot in the morning. When the alarm clock rings, don't think, don't debate wheter you have time to snooze 5 minutes (more often than not it's not going to be only 5 minutes if you do) just let your suibconsious mind raise you out of bed, into the bathroom turn on the shower and once your in the shower you can allow your conscious mind to wake up.
I spend 30 minutes a week couponing and the "extreme couponing" show has definitely made couponing look like a mental illness. Unlike the extreme couponers, I only clip coupons for staples that I already go through large amounts of such as dry pasta, oatmeal, yogurt, and coffee. Clearing a shelf and buying 77 bottles of mustard is selfish, wasteful, and inconsiderate. Not to mention that the time and dedication people use towards couponing could be better used generating an income.
I have had good vacations RENTING someone else's timeshare. Many of the resale outfits also act as rental agancies. Make sure you state up front and very specifically that you are only interested in renting, not buying.
Chattanooga had a small problem with a local org hacking Ohio election computers. Police ignored over 20,000 911 calls before being exposed. The local force doesn't prosecute hacking, electronic burglary, IP theft, or ID theft, in a town where name changes don't have to be published. After 20 years experience with that city, I fled their substantial and persistent criminal population. No amount of subsidy can compensate for their vatied forms of criminal mischief.
Love Costco products. Well worth the cost of membership.
Costco wipes $8 for 340 wipes and you can clean the whole house with 2 or 3.
Great for convenience foods like frozen ravioli or stir fry vegetables for that "I just got home and I'm hungry and I'm tempted to order takeout" days.
Always compare prices to local grocery store/discount store before you buy, not everything at Costco is cheaper!

Since it's just 3 of us, this year I made a Bone-In turkey breast for Thanksgiving. I used a large jar of duck sauce, the gravy packet included with the turkey, and added garlic and black pepper. I cooked it on low for 5 hours. The meat fell off the bone and between my husband and 4 year old, there was only enough left for ONE sandwich! It was a nice change and deeelish!
I would like to see more restaurant deals!
Some more kitchen and bath deals!
More home goods deals

I tried that one and my daughter innocently said "So write a check". It took a while to explain that I could not do that either..........
