BBQ at my sisters! All the dads love having dinner from the grill and we all bring something to the gathering so the hostess (my sister) isn't stuck doing/buying everything. Nothing like sitting outside on a nice day with family & friends and celebrating the dads!
As for gifts, we're very low key. Usually something for the yard or a new tool that can be used around the house. This year my kids are getting their dad a new fishing pole so he can use it at the campground we go to. It's a gift he will use all season long!
Our younger kid made something in Sunday School. If he ever gets back to me, I'll make hubby what he wants for dinner, probably seafood. Half-priced cadets from BJ's.
I take Vitamin B1 and it really does keep the critters away! It needs to build up in your blood a bit, so begin taking it about two weeks before whatever function you don't want skeeters invited to!
Yeah, and I remember discovering, right about the time - maybe 30 years ago - when the biggest banks started to charge fees for every possible financial situation, that a savings account I had just opened, so far from paying any significant interest, charged me low balance fees, heretofore unheard of, and a bunch of other fees, too, and deciding, right there at the teller window that I really didn't want to bank there, and having the teller inform me that there was a $5.00 (worth much more then than now!) fee for closing the account! I may have made a scene. I think they waived the fee in light of the fact that the multitude of fees had not been described to me and that many people were listening, but I'm not sure.
We're going to keep it low-key, a cookout in the park and that's just about it. Somehow I got talked into a restaurant brunch for mother's day, and it was way too much money for a meal.
I get the kids involved and make him some kind of craft.
Grill!
We don't buy gifts, our fathers get a card and my hubby gets an ice cream sundae (his only request!) He does love a good ice cream sundae!

I usually just send him a nice card, or maybe go out to breakfast together.
My kids usually make a card and I cook on the grill
Great list, I used Duolingo to master Spanish Vocabulary. Another great new iPhone app I've been using for improving the brain is Elevate.
By living out of town and sending a card with a Groupon or a great used book via media mail! :)
I send mother's and father's day gifts together to my family to save on shipping.

Make a homemade card and gift.
We eat at home instead of going out to a restaurant to save money.
We're giving the gift of yardwork to my dad this year :-)
I call Dad long-distance on Father's Day, but don't buy him gifts. He's never been interested in gifts anyway, so that helps me out a lot! ;o)
We started having a BBQ and potluck with family a couple of years ago. It's a great way to have a fun and frugal celebration.
