This is a huge list Lynn. I have been participating in online surveys for years. In fact I have created a site where I do share my experience with some of these panels. But there are sites on your list that I haven't even heard of some of them.
In most cases taking good care of your teeth and getting your dentist to do a deep cleaning about twice a year is enough to keep your teeth nice and white. Specialized teeth whitening systems are only necessary if your teeth are heavily stained.
I second that. I have had pasture raised, grass fed beef from a local farmer that was frozen (but butchered just a week ago) and I was floored by the incredible taste of that beef. Sooo much better than fresh from the supermarket!
We just had one this weekend. We didn't make a lot but this was our third for this year; as long as we had everything priced and already at the location we decided to do it again for the city-wide sales. We made $300 at the first sale of the season - over $600 total. It may be quarters and single dollars for a lot but it's amazing how fast it adds up. We donate most of what is left and it's much better than just throwing it away.
Eating potatoes, white bread, and pasta do not cause diabetes. Not using appropriate portion control with any food (not just the carbs) can cause OBESITY, which can (but not always) cause your bodies cells to be less receptive to the insulin it produces. Again, eating these foods will NOT cause a person to become diabetic.
I would like to thank you for compiling this great list of jobs which I believe can be great sources of income for anybody looking for extra income in these days of turmoil economic situations. Personally, I would love to do quite a few of these jobs to supplement my income, or even make a living in difficult economic circumstances. Thanks a lot for writing this great article :).
Completing an internship while studying is a great way to stand out - I know some university courses actually require a 6 month unpaid internship to be completed before they will let you graduate. Once you're out into the 'real world' internships are still a great way to go, but I believe they are harder to obtain - being a student gives you a reason to not already be working in the field, whereas a non-student intern would have me questioning why they can't get a job to begin with.
Good advice! And a really good sewing machine dealer/repair will also have excellently refurbished machines that are much less expensive than a new one, but run well. I have a Bernina serger, a Morse workhorse and a 1970's Necchi, so my favorite repair shop/dealer is worth the 30 mile drive.
This is actually for Camilla, but there was no "reply" button for her - baked apples with dried fruit. Take a sweet/tart apple - I like Romas - core, stuff the core with white raisins or dates, pop it in the microwave until soft (check in about 4 minutes). Since the apple loses water through steam while it cooks, it seems to concentrate the natural sugar making it taste sweeter. No added sugar or fake sweeteners and lots of fiber!
Absolutely! I think that a good yard sale needs to have more than toys, books and clothes though. I generally drive right by those kinds. But if you have lots of furniture or bigger bulky items, I find that the yard sale is a lot more productive! I think set up has a lot to do with how good or bad you'll do too. I always try to figure how people see the items when they drive by and try to put the best eye catching item I have right out front. There aren't really any regulations where I am, but usually the best day is Saturday/Sunday. My experiences have always been good, I find most of the people that come to the yard sales are generally really down to earth, friendly people and I always end up striking up a good conversation. We put up and take down the signs (which most people just leave) ourselves. The most fruitful yard sale I've ever had was one with my mother where she made a little over $600 dollars because we had a plethora of furniture to get rid of!
I always shop for seasonal clothes at opposite times. For example, I try to load up on Fall clothes at the start of summer or summer clothes (t-shirts, etc) starting in September. This way I get the most discounted clothes. Thrift shops will even have a large sale to clear out these items, so you can generally find some really good deals. I'm avid thrift shopper, but I've also had really good luck with Target and Kohl's clearance on occasion. A good tip for when you're looking for great work clothes is to look for a second hand shop in a high end neighborhood. I have a Savers located in a wealthy area and I cannot tell you how many great steals I've come away with (although Savers can be pricey at times!). Thanks for posting this, I am desperately in need of a wardrobe pick-me up!
Buying lawn supplies from a big chain is great when you live in a warm climate because they still discount them, even though you can use the stuff year-round.
Cooking the corn does make a difference. Corn oil is derived from corn, so when you cook it, you release the oil. Your temps are high to start out. Bring it up slow to 160. Methanol will start to release around 150. Hold it there for a bit and get rid of the heads. When you are ready, slowly bring it to about 180. You can take it up just a bit, but try not to boil it like veggies on the stove. As you collect, put a jar on ice to cool down. I think you will be able to see when it starts to cloud. That is when you will need to stop or turn down as slow as you can to not take the oil with it. You can always double or triple distill it. You just add water back to your spirits and run through again. Each time removes impurities, but it also takes away the flavours.
I have never done a yard sale, used to live in a small apartment and i just list on Craigslist anything i need to sell one at a time. There is a day every summer that the town has a town wide one, no permit required, if I ever did one I would do it that day, no need to advertise (tons of people come to town going from street to street, I kind of hate that day since I don't hold a sale) and no permit fees.
The Donvier is great! I have one that I've had for 15+ years - I keep the cylinder in the freezer all the time so I can have a frozen treat whenever I want it. Be careful to handle the cylinder carefully according to the instructions and make sure not to lose the paddle and it will work for you for a long time.
Rather than ice cream I often freeze fruit juice and make a sorbet-like freeze to keep it healthier, and it's ready in about 10 minutes. 90+ here in So Cal today, I'll be making one tonight!
"The only thing worse than never delegating is micro-managing." Absolutely! The combination of never delegating and micro-managing screams, "I don't trust anyone to do anything!"
After reading this I headed out with the pup for our morning stroll and noticed that the three piece "Red Bistro" outdoor dining set (retro enameled steel, like Gramma used to have) sitting out front of the local True Value hardware store that I have had my eye on all summer has been marked down to $109.00 from $159.00.

Those were good things to do!!!!!!
Zorcy,
Thanks for advise. Will run again in a couple of weeks and see how it turns out!

I spent my summer volunteering at a ton of different festivals doing different things.

According to diabetes.org, both types actually have inherited genetic factors. We've updated the article accordingly. Thanks!

Pretty sure Type 1 diabetes is not inherited.

Does anyone know if now would be a good time to buy a mattress with the labor day sales?

I've never had a yard sale. We just donate to Goodwill and take the tax break. However, I enjoy going to yard sales. You can find great deals.
Hah!

I'll be picking mine up later this afternoon.
No we don't have yard sales. I live in a HOA townhouse and we aren't allowed. But I like attending big ones (like church, or several families)
