I don't batch cook my meals, but I've definitely thought about it. The only thing I will prepare in advance is my breakfast (i.e., overnight oats)!

Yes, I usually cook all my lunches on Sunday and prepare different snacks for the week. It keeps me healthy and my diet on a schedule!

Yes, I batch cook. I find that it really saves time during the busy week; after work I am able to have dinner on the table with minimal effort. I also batch prepare lunches, so that I am not as rushed in the mornings getting everyone out of the door. Occasionally, I freeze portions but also run into storage space issues in my freezer.

I also batch bake and freeze. I figure if I am already going to messy up the kitchen with flour and sugar dust I might as well make a day out of it and it's convenient to have treats on hand for those last minute potluck days at work or last minute weekend guests :)

As a busy single person I do batch cooking every Sunday. I make things that I can freeze and eat for lunch or dinner throughout the following week when I am too busy to cook. This saves me a lot of money and I get to get healthy hot meal without relying on unhealthy fast food.

Recipes that I usually batch cook are: enchiladas, pasta dishes, rice dishes, soup, and chili. I portion out all my batch recipes in individual tupperware containers and freeze them. Then when I need a meal, just grab it from the freezer and heat it up. Add some fruit or a salad and I have a meal. Easy Peasy

  • 6 Ways Life is Wonderful When You're Debt-Free   10 years 8 weeks ago

Great article. A lot of people talk about wanting to be debt free but don't realize some of the benefits that can actually give you. This puts a carrot at the end of that tunnel.

Another thing I would add is that your money is worth more. Meaning - you're eliminating interest payments and potentially converting that to interest earned (if you're investing). That could be a 10-20% gain in growth.

    Nice article.

I don't do batch baking or cooking often. During the holidays, I will occasionally do a batch cooking of breakfast items to keep in the freezer. This really is an excellent way to save time and money.

  • 11 Signs the Job Is Too Good to Be True   10 years 8 weeks ago

If you are in an industry, such as tech or project management, some recruiters may try to contact you in the early evening hours.

Some recruiters also hire Indian or Asian staffers to phone screen before involving the company's account manager to be involved in the submission process to clients.

Again, all of the hints in this article can weed out illegitimate scams.

Get rid of these scam artist insurance companies and make healthcare affordable. Cut out the middle man(insurance company). I can hardly afford to take my family to the doctor for streph throat.$85 per person is bs.its so much money that I have to make payments. America is a mess and the insurance companies and politicians all benefit from it. While the middle class suffer and pay the consequences of leaches that abuse government assistance for health care.im appalled with the way or health care system is ran.

  • Ask the Readers: Do You Do Batch Cooking?   10 years 8 weeks ago

When my life used to be a bit busier, I did try to do batch cooking as much as possible to make lunches and dinners easy throughout the week. Something that I remember working really well is cooking some type of big and versatile thing on Sundays (like a pork butt) and making it into a variety of meals throughout the week - like pork tacos one day, and a pork salad the next, maybe finishing off with a barbecue pork pizza. The biggest challenge for something like that was not getting sick of the item that you prepared by the end of the week, and making sure it stays fresh until you've eaten it all!

Some things I make in bulk and freeze for a handy meal, stews, soup and enchiladas.

I do some batch cooking like making a crockpot of chili and freezing a lot of it. My biggest challenge is not having enough room in our freezer.

  • 5 Reasons to Keep Your Money Separated After Marriage   10 years 8 weeks ago

I find your arguments for separation personally ridiculous. I've been married 20 years and my husband has been the main breadwinner the entire time. I've been home a large chunk of that time rearing our children, but have recently started working again. We have always used "his" paycheck as the basis of our budget, never relying on whatever I might (or might not) make. We are a team and use our resources to fulfill our goals and dreams together. We started long ago using the cash in envelopes system and therefore each have our "own" money to spend every month, but it's an even amount. His job might be outside of the home, but even when I was a stay-at-home wife and mother, my job was to keep our household on budget and on track -- keeping the bills paid, food in the fridge, and a myriad of other tasks that are needed to keep a household functioning. Thankfully, my husband is amazing and realizes that without either one of us, the whole household suffers. I do have quite a bit in my name because I'm the one that pays the bills and calls when there's a problem, so it's easier than having him call during work hours. Divorce is never even mentioned as an option, we made a commitment and will be together until "death do us part". That's what marriage is: a commitment.

  • 8 Things a Frugal Woman Should Always Carry   10 years 8 weeks ago

That's a great list! I do a lot of those same things too! Another thing I do is I always keep a small coin purse in my purse too. I don't use cash at all and having a coin purse really helps me when I have to pay for the parking garage or a parking meter. Not to mention it comes in handy for the vending machine when you have to make emergency trips to the hospital or visiting someone there.

Lastly, I always keep both a power bank and a wall charger for my cell phone in my purse. The power bank works well when I'm at the grocery store and have time to wait for it to take a long while for it to charge and the regular charger works well when I'm at the library or in the waiting room at the doctor or the dealer That way I can plug it in and watch Netflix and Hulu while I wait without worrying about the battery being drained before I get home or finish running errands

    Great article!

Good questions. But if you pay it off every month, the biggest question is: how are the rewards?

  • Ask the Readers: Do You Do Batch Cooking?   10 years 8 weeks ago

I do some, but it's more meal planning than batch cooking. I'll make things on Sunday afternoon and eat it all week. I don't freeze a lot because I have a tiny freezer and no room for a larger one.

  • Ask the Readers: Do You Do Batch Cooking?   10 years 8 weeks ago

I batch cook. Saturdays/Sundays for the following week. Around Wednesday night or Thursday, I get sick of the food and need something new (just for one meal) and then I go back to eating what I (I = my husband) cooks for the week.
