I think this is a really cool idea to make some extra money on space you don't use. When I was in Europe, two friends and I stayed at a person's house in Florence, Italy and it was so much better than a hostel! It was warmer, homier, and the people were nice enough to have breakfast for us as well as give us advice on where to visit. Definitely worth it, as long as the right precautions are taken.
This is exactly how I think when it comes to running long distances. I've done more than a few 5k's before and have never attempted, until this past summer, to do a 10k. I was pretty intimidated at first and had pre-race jitters the day of, the only reason I made it to the finish line was because I kept telling myself to take the next step and get to the next block. I broke down the larger goal of running over six miles into one block increments. Any goal in life, including financial ones, can be accomplished with goal sequencing!
we need to keep things in mind that small or sub goals are quite time consuming and we can not bear that cost. our eyes should not be distracted from the main goals just by giving the importance to sub-goals.
It's amazing how much better we feel emotionally, physically, and mentally when we live an active lifestyle. Thanks for sharing this excellent article. I look forward to reading more of your works.
My son will be going to college in 3 years. It is good to know about the above articles to do extensive research, so I can educate him on his options with college funding.
Amanda,
Id like to know more about the work you do from home. It has me interested. I work part time right now but have a 6yr old 9mo old & am 4mo pregnant. Id love to have a job that keeps me home with the kids.
I just read this and it was actually worth it, a very good article. I mean, it's good to know that at least I am not alone in the situation I am in, not being satisfied with my present job.
Anyway, For all the people that could read this article around these days, I hope you all best of luck. Don't get discouraged because of the shitty job you have right now. And I won't say endure it either, because I firmly believe that we should never endure life, but enjoy it instead. So, let's always try looking at the positive things of our situation. It WILL make things better. And, if that doesn't work, we can always quit. I mean, we are not chained to the freakin' desk, are we?
Some of the points on here are absolutely ridiculous! Free music= radio? Okay... Except there are tons of commercials and they usually play a select few songs over and over again. Also, how the heck are you supposed to drive and enjoy a cross-country ride when you're busy changing the radio half of the time? If you're really cheap but want free music legally, Amazon offers tons of promotions where the reward are $5 in mp3 credit. Buy a textbook purchase of over $50 and get a $5 MP3 credit. Sign up for some newsletter on Amazon, get a $5 credit. Also, there are website that offers free song downloads of the older songs for free.
And the part about condoms... Many of those condoms are cheap and will break easily. Not to mention, some just sit out there for the eternity (and yes condoms do expire!) and that one size does not fit all, and many women (like me) are allergic and/or uncomfortable w/ the use of latex condoms. I'm sure there is a much subtle way of putting it than "I don't understand why a market for condoms still exist!"-- that was snarky and rude. Open up your eyes to see that not everyone fits under the same category.
For books-- it's called library. I can't believe you'd miss the most obvious free place of all! Taxpayers pay for it, why not get the money back? Same goes for magazines, why pay for a subscription when you can get them from the local library for free. These are just the basics, and many libraries offers free e-books downloads that expire after a certain day from when you start reading them. Same goes for movies and music downloads.
Groceries-- in order to use coupons, you have to find them first. I don't know anyone who has a newspaper subscription anymore. I scour eBay for coupons and get them for $.99 w/ $.50 in shipping. I then send the ones I won't use and the ones that are expired to troops since they can use expired coupons 3 months past their exp. date.
Water-- yes, true tap water is good and is more strictly controlled than bottled water BUT that is only true of when it's in the facility. That's not the problem, the problem is when it goes through years old underground pipes and collects microscopic dirt and contaminants seeping in. That's why I invested in a Brita filter. It removes most impurities but the best investment of all is UV sanitizer for your tap. It kills 99% of the bugs and pathogens in your water and you never have to wait for your water to be filtered. Plus UV lamps need to be replaced less frequently.
Actually, once you've reached your full retirement age, you can make as much money as you want and it doesn't affect your benefits. That is, if you start taking money at 62, everything over the limit will affect your benefits. If your full retirement age is 66, then it doesn't. How your benefits and other income are taxed is a whole other issue.
Your "double C" comment is funny. Those are "F" cells, the high aH (ampere-hour) lantern cells have four of those F cells in series, the lower aH ones have four "D" cells in series (big space gap in those cheaper ones).
The LDS Church puts on a Gingerbread house contest each year, amongst their own, and other social groups in Omaha. Others may be able to enter, I am not certain. Don't know that there is any real prize, probably just recognition. These are awesome displays, not your typical Graham cracker and frosting cabins. Fun to see and totally free. If you are Christian and don't mind, they also offer a free short movie about the birth of Christ. Not pushy, and pretty nondenominational, in it's harmless content. A great free outing offered for about 30+ days each year, right before Christmas. No tasting, although very tempting. Something else to check into, anyway. They do not care what your religion is. There is nothing you have to reveal, or missionaries that will hunt you down, there, or after. This is NOT a plug for the Church, HONEST. I am C&E Catholic, at best.
How much worth is your memories if you end up having nothing?
I think that many people end up forgetting where they started out. On one hand, some people should start realizing what they got, and start harvesting form their achievements. On the other hand, it is important to remember that many have to set their such things aside to try to get where you have come.
Not everyone gets life handed to them. Poor people have to be frugal, and they don't get to go on vacations or eat in restaurants.
I don't tend to put extra things (receipts, cards, etc.) into my wallet, but rather into my purse. I usually clean out all the extra things from my purse every night, though.
Here's a new one that I did yesterday: test drive a car for my son's high school. I drove a Lincoln through a local campaign: https://driveone4urschool.com/user. Also I had to fill out a form and answer a few survey questions. It was a fun way to make money for the school.
NETSPEND!!! You gotta listen to this one... Ok so I did purchase a prepaid card from them... they require that you show ID and SSN before sending a permanent card. Having done all that i get home and find out the card i just bought had not been "fully" activated. LOL yes after i give them my money for me to spend on this card they will not allow me to use it... I then talk to their CSR in Singapor or somewhere... and they ask for a copy of my ID and SSC and so i send it only to get blocked from my card the very second i attempt to make an online purchase. THEN... i have to wait til MONDAY before I can do anything about it bc the dept that blocks the card isnt open to unblock the card on Saturday...Long story short im getting all of my money back off of this card NEVER using it again a,d they made my wknd horrible with their BS policy over MY cash money that i obviously had to pay them to get the card to use it for online purchases.... You would think its a safer way to go without risking you very personal banking info... But of course its a bigger headache than a regular bank NetSpend sucks...and so does their customer service.
Locks of Love gets some negative reviews - look at Pantene's Beautiful Lengths when you're considering donating. Another option - sell your hair and donate $$ to preferred charity.
Decaf coffee and tea have smaller amounts of caffeine in them. Chocolate contains caffeine also. Read labels.

Great tips for small business owners like me

You also lengthen the life of what ever you unplug, save'n you more money in the long run!

I clean out my wallet at least once a month. Its surprising how much stuff can accumulate in such a short amount of time.

I already like your Facebook page
I cleaned out my wallet this week. Pulled out all the receipts and papers.
I don't keep much in my wallet except for id, credit card and debit card. I try to file the business cards so they don't take up room in my wallet.

I am going to try the avocado/chick pea sandwich but would like suggestions as to what to substitute for cilantro which I don't care for.

Wanna do all of this but not enough time to do it all
