You may want to rethink the furniture. Furniture today is made by a whole different process- cheaper woods, totally different construction (staples, woodglue, etc.)- it's not made to last anymore. However, old furniture that is sturdy? Refinished, reupholstered, you'll have something with character that will last forever. My fainting couch from the 40s is amazing, and so is an antique cherry table... Dishes, eh bleach. Hats freak me out a bit though, but for true WWI and prior vintage, I'll risk it after a good cleaning.
I get the reticence though.
Now that Spring is finally here, it motivates me even more to be more active. I truly feel the best medicine is physical activity. A great workout always clears my mind and naturally reduces my stress levels. Even just a walk around the neighborhood, taking the stairs instead of the elevator is a "step" in the right direction! Good luck to everyone.
My favorite frugal food is leftovers of any kind. I purposely cook with the intent of having at least two meals from one recipe. It saves time and money and not using them is wasteful and is just throwing money away.
If your RV is your primary residence you can deduct from your taxes all the same things you would on your conventional home like loan interest.
While RV insurance isn't regular insurance, if you're not a full timer your insurance is likely to be 1/2 your car insurance. The insurance company knows you will have it parked in your yard for more than half the year and not subject to road accidents.
As for mail, on line is the way to go. For those things that must be mailed there are mail forwarding companies that will receive your mail and forward it to you when you land for a while when you call them.
I totally love "pasta and tomatoes"--just cooked pasta with a homemade sauce of diced tomatoes with olive oil, basil and sometimes oregano. We usually have it once a week--plus it is vegetarian.
Simple Sandwich:
1. Apply dressing of your choice on wheat bread slices
2. Grill Tofu slices in Olive oil and insert in between slices
3. Top veggies if you want and switch dressings to avoid sammy fatigue
If running get a video gait analysis with your shoes to find the best ones for your body to prevent unnecessary injuries. And if the $80-$140 price tag is too much then note the shoe and year of its release and find that bugger on eBay or see if the previous year's model is the same in construction and get that (usually discounted by then).
Pausing is the best way to prevent an emotional outburst. I know whenever I get angry or overly emotional, I always take my time to respond and speak very slowly to ensure that I process what I am saying before I blurt anything out that I may regret.
It would be amazing to be able to drop everything and live as a nomad on the open road, but using an RV to do so sounds like more trouble than it is worth! Whenever I go on cheap road trips, I like to use my car and bring camping gear and find parks and campsites to stay in along the way. It is a cheaper and greener alternative to such a large automobile!
Love this article! Whenever you look good you feel good that's just how it is, and saving money in the process is always an added bonus. For sports clothing, Sports Authority has frequent sales on their athletic gear, I always like to stock up whenever they have good deals!
Muesli for lunch:
I mix a half banana, half apple, 1 cup of yoghurt, 4 ESP shredded oats or muesli mix or other muesli components and take in a jar for lunch to my office.
If I have other fruit, great. Other than kiwi all is good for the mix. Kiwi will make it bitter.
If I have frozen fruit, great. They will keep it cold till lunchtime, even if I don't have access to a fridge.
If I have brown bananas, great. I freeze them in pieces and use some pieces for the mix.
Chick peas. I use them as a meat substitute in stuffed peppers and chili. I make hummus with them for sandwiches. They're even healthy and inexpensive dog training treats. :)
Living in an RV for a portion of the year would be amazing. But I dont think I could do it full-time. It would be sort of like John Steinbeck's Travels with Charley. Amazing experience, but one I would want to make temporary.
My husband gets terrible leg cramps and I make the sports drink mentioned using baking soda, sugar, salt, water, and powdered drink mix. It works wonders and helps him to stay hydrated......the leg cramps are almost a thing of the past!!
It's a lot better than the 'commercial' sports drinks.
We've got a LOT of beans. Cans and cans and cans of beans. I've experimented a little, and have come up with a frugal, simple, and quick meal -- bean burritos. I cook the beans on the stove -- throw in some minced onions and some cinnamon (yes! my secret ingredient), mash them up, spoon them onto a tortilla with some shredded cheese, and you're good to go. Jalapenos and sour cream are a bonus! :)
Honey Nut Cheerios is my preference, but I can get much more for my money by purchasing the Safeway brand of Honey Nut knockoff, and get way more cereal for much less money. The ingredients are nearly identical, so buying the cheaper cereal saves me a lot of money. Another highly frugal yet nutritious food I buy is bananas. Bananas are said to be the perfect food. I buy them very green, in bunches of 4 or 5, then slice them up on my cheap cereal, along with a handful of store brand raisins. Overall, I have great luck with buying store brands and generics. Food manufacturers really rip people off: Take one big potato for 2 cents, slice it into chips and sell that same potato for $4 a bag. No way.

From-scratch Red Beans and Rice. I found an amazing recipe from a cookbook at the library. It's one of our staple favorites.

I like to do whole wheat pasta with lemon juice, garlic salt, and pepper. For an extra splurge I add a little feta cheese.

Quality is better than quantity is something that should never be overlooked!

grilled cheese is my favorite frugal food
Yo. This is all very good but what if you're a cripplingly shy, social anxiety ridden recovering alcoholic? It's a bit more difficult then.
I'd go with a composting toilet. Then you'd only have to contend with gray water.
