A gift of a book can help introduce a child to a whole wonderful world of reading for enjoyment and to learn new things about people and places.
I'm with Michael on this one. We go cash back rewards cards since much our travel ends up being either paid for by an employer or on low cost carriers. Every year for Christmas I get my nieces and nephews magazine subscriptions. I have done this for several years. I try and find magazines with no advertisements in them. Highlights, Jack and Jill, American Girl. They are a little more than the others but the quality of the magazines is so much better! The boys really like sports so when they turned 10 I got the Sports Illustrated for Kids. This entertains them as well as getting them to read, cook, do projects etc. What kid doesn't like to get stuff in the mail? Just choose age appropriate, advertisement free magazines and you can't go wrong. The kids love this.
Experiences, like guitar lessons, a trip together, a certificate to go to the local indoor climbing place. My kids don't need more junk. They want more time with family to build memories.
I have a T-Mobile Hotspot on my phone for about $15 extra a month. It works great I just have to limit my internet at home to schoolwork only and no videos since they use so much data.
Experience gifts are always something to look forward to and offer quality time together. If that isn't appropriate or wanted by the parent, I like to give more open ended toys like blocks. They can be played with by a toddler (stacking) to elaborate, imaginative creations for older kids. Plus, various brands can be put together and you don't have to buy a specific type.
While the shopping carts are larger the aisles are significantly wider. I find my aded stress is mental in trying to recall prices and calculate price differentials. They are certainly not as convenient as a local supermarket and the time is a little longer in store. I found I wasn't saving any money even before I added on the membership fee and my choices were limited. I could not buy old fashioned oats at BJs, the only stocked quick oats. Not much difference but the texture is different. I always used pork loin as a measure of meat prices. I can meet or beat the club price at Giant Foods, Super Fresh, if you can find one, Shopright, Shoppers Food or Safeway. Did I miss any?

When I was a Costco member, I routinely beat their prices, especially for their meats at local supermarkets.

The fine print is usually what gets people because the majority do not read it. Why? Well, it’s tiny and no one wants to read it. If everyone were to read the fine print, people would be in a better state with their finances and decision making.
30 minutes for the corn is WAY too long. Put the corn in a pot of boiling water, once it has come back to a boil, take it out--it is ready.
Pouring grease down the sink with hot water works for a short distance but it WILL created a clog somewhere down the pipe. Let it cool and put it in an old zipper top bag and put it in the trash. Or, put it in a container that is to be thrown away, leave it in the refrigerator until it has congealed and then into the trash. Much easier on the pipes.

Cash always spends, and it also gives you the flexibility to spend it where you might need it, especially knowing that your needs and wants will change over time.

Well, I totally agree with this post. I think shopping in a warehouse or a wholesale is so crowded and stressful. It makes me tired after shopping hours. Besides, warehouse is not the best price and maybe bulk goods we buy can be damage for use time.
