I buy the majority of our fruits and vegetables organic, and we also grow a garden. We've moved to grass fed meat that is ideally, but not always, organic.
I try to buy organic with the "dirtiest" fruits and veggies. There are tons of lists online that list the fruits that contain the most chemicals. Beyond that I try to save money.
I just emailed this article to a person who struck me as very odd, and literally insulted me and had contacted me about furniture items for sale on Craigslist. This was the second "Odd' Inquiry I received this week, and the approach was very similar. My feeling is that they were both acquainted. I had a set of vintage furniture listed on CL. The first person who contacted me asked me many questions, but none had to do with the furniture. He asked me "are you a dealer,where is the furniture located,Is this a hobby, or a business? Then he said his girlfriend like this type furniture, but worked until 5:00, so he would be coming to look at the furniture, first, and then they would make an appointment together later.I was really caught off guard by all of the questions about me, and none about the actual furniture. He also said" I will take exact measurements( the measurements were in the a) and take "pictures" when I come. I thought, this is weird as the ad has several great photos of the items. I told him i would call him the next day, to set an appointment after 5:00, as I had other people coming to look at it around 11:00 a.m. I also suggested that both his girlfriend and he could come at once. My time is valuable and so was his, or so I thought. The next morning, he called my phone number, right before 11:00 a.m. and apologized, saying that he " was trying to reach his accountant, he had told me he was off work that day the eve. before.One of the items sold and I called to inform him. He started in, with unrelated questions, and I stopped him, informing him that I wanted to stay focused on the sale of the furniture. He did not make an appointment.He did email me and asked me to keep in mind if i found another set of this type furniture. Several days later, i got an email from a different person, for an ad that featured one item, but there was on epic that had more than just that item in the picture, and the other items were ones that sold. This guy was the same, he immediately wanted to know, do you have other furniture for sale, are you a dealer, do you refinish furniture, etc.. ? i asked him if he needed furniture refinished and he said "No." I asked him I what he was looking for, and he said at first, a king sized bedroom furniture set, then he said a queen sized furniture set, then he said he needed to furnish 3 bedrooms with furniture.. and also asked me where the furniture was located. I just told him straight up that the phone call was weird, and that I could not understand his inquiry. I told him what items I had left, but he seemed uninterested in that, and just kept the conversations scrambled. Finally he called me "hostile", 3x and hung up, I thought it was so odd, I wrote him back an email explaining that was unclear as to what he really wanted, and that insulting me and calling me hostile was because he wanted information that was not provided to him. Within 3 minutes, he called me back, and said" sorry wrong number," really kooky. For what it is worth, the items partially pictured with the one item of the original set I had left, were part of a set that sold, that the first person inquired about, Now, if you are not totally confused, the point of all of this is to tell you that if people are not specifically interested in your items, and they have not read the ad, to see if you provided measurements, or they have unrelated questions about you, what you may do for a living, the location of the items, and just more or less interview you, beware. I agree with the expert mentioned in the article above, if it feels wrong, it probably is.I am still unclear what this was all about, but what my instincts tell me, is that both of these parties knew one another, that they may be not interested in buying vintage furniture, and that for some reason, they wanted to know more about me personally than they did the items, with the exception of wanting to know where they were located. the second party that called me "hostile" , had one line in his email. "Where can i see your Furniture?" off as i was only advertising ONE piece at that time. This could be about identity theft, a robbery or something that just is not legit. I love Frye. I have a pair of their Engineer Boots. I bought them over eleven years ago and have replaced the heel twice and the sole once. The repairs have cost approximately fifty dollars total, and the boots are still stylish and going strong.
Ironicly we are using these digital deices to converse even now. But in order for the family to survive or revive might be a better choise of words, we need to have true quality time without all the ipads, cell phones, computer, etc. Time to talk again. Time to interact with each other. And I don't mean facebook or any other devices. We need to take the time to grow together. People either grow apart or together and it takes a real effort and time.
Right now my wife is in the bedroon listening to her tones while on the internet, my daughter is watching videos on her nook, my son is on his computer in his room and my other daughter is doing her thing on her ipad. We NEED TO DETOX from all of this.
We need to have good old fashion quality time talking, play those BORED games as my daughter calls them, putting together a puzzle, or going for a walk or hike. The family is deteriorating right before our eyes and we are doing nothing about it.
Everything passes in time...even the internet will pass in time.

In today's information age, real estate agents are unnecessary. In my experience with agents is that they mostly interferer, know nothing about " the pulse of the market", know nothing about the internal working of a home. They are going the way of the dinosaur. Any information about an area or particular home in which your selling or buying a home can be gleaned from the internet ( PUBLIC RECORD). They will tell you that they bring qualified buys to the table, this is totally false, only a bank can determine that. Their fees(commission)n are outrageous considering most of the work is done by the buyer/seller(submitting paper work to banks)and attorneys( contracts drawn up)..Real estate agents basically take money out of the pockets of both the buyer and seller for a service that is unnecessary.
Only once have I tried the olive oil cleanse, which didn't take to my face too well. I do use witch hazel as a makeup removal. I can say that the DIY facial product that has been successful is my homemade facial scrub. I use honey, castor oil, ground cinnamon, and brown turbinado sugar (optional). It has worked wonders for my acne prone skin thus far! I have witnessed a more radiant and even skin tone.
I do believe that DIY facial cleansers work way better than store bought cleansers. Manufactured cleansers can be quite hard on the skin whereas DIY cleansers really do get the job done naturally.

You should never buy a house if you can't afford it. My last house loan was for a mortgage to pay off our construction loan. The house was paid for in full twelve years ago . . . three years ahead of the scheduled 15 year pay-off. The sanest approach to home ownership is to buy what you can reasonably afford, not what you want. If this means you don't get your dream house right off the bat . . . too bad. Since paying off our mortgage, we have saved enough money to remodel both bathrooms, replace all the original appliances with EnergyStar, replace all windows and doors for more energy efficiency and we are now saving to update the kitchen cabinets and counters. Could we take out a loan to do this? Yes, we could as we have an excellent credit rating. However, since paying off our house, we much prefer to "pay as we go." That applies to cars too. My husband recently paid cash for his new 2013 vehicle. It pays to save instead of paying interest, even low percentage interest.
Hello! A real estate agent here :) I of course would have to disagree with your statement and say that what I do for my clients is very worth my commission. Lets say you're the buyer and I'm the agent, first of all the buyers in the state of ky do not pay the commission unless agreed upon when they are purchasing a for sale by owner and the owner refuses...the sellers pay the commission of both agents. A good agent will number one do the leg work for you after you have been approved for your loan, you as the buyer should not be showing the agent which houses you want to see, they should be coming to you with what they found that meets your search criteria. However that being said as a buyer you should be aware that a buyer thinks about buying a home pretty much everyday until it happens so if you happen to find something before the agent does then that would be when the agent would make an appointment for you to see it..and the fact that you saw it first does not mean they are not looking out for you it just means they too have a life. Real estate really is a 24 hour job, you can never be truly disconnected and when you are you have to have a back up agent willing to help your clients while you're away. An agent puts in a lot of hours learning their trade and a lot of money affiliating with memberships that require honest dealing. Your agent should also be proficient enough in contract writing that they don't miss something that could possibly cost you thousands or the entire house; they can advise you about inspections and how to go about asking for repairs, and they do the negotiating for you so that an argument between the buyer and seller is avoided. You could buy your own home or sell your own home without an agent but this is what we do for a living and we are experts in our field.
Why are people letting VISA or MasterCard control your money and lives? Pay cash and demand that employers pay by check.

I signed up for a CSA share with a local farm, which supplies me with local and organic produce every week. I eat a lot of veggies, so I'm most adamant about buying organic versions instead of conventional.
Aztec clay is an amazing blemish clearing mask! If you have oily skin, mix it with apple cider vinegar. If you have dry skin, mix with water and jojoba oil.
It works so well and it's completely affordable. You can get a huge amount of the dry green powder for about $8.
I just read this and cleaned out my wallet. Hopefully I never lose it but if I did at least I'll still have my sin, one working credit card, and the phone numbers of the cards I have for easy cancelling :)
We just brought our daughter up to University of Central Florida. It is very expensive and she qualified for 75% Bright Futures which means 75% of her tuition is paid. This can be as high as 100% but depends on grades and test scores in high school. Her tuition is about 1/2 of the per hour fee so we pick up a lot on top of that. We have saved some for her education but about $30k which won't go far. Our plan is to try and pay as she goes and leave that money for when she graduates. We are also having her apply for many scholarships as well. She has worked for several years already so this might be an option her 3-4 years. We would like her to be debt free when she is done as well. Our income is such as we will receive no aid and she might not either but not ruling out.
Our son has been going to a local state college for 3 years and will be transferring up to UCF this spring. They each have a journey that is their own and we have been paying for his as well although not as much. Both kids have worked and are not afraid to work. They are aware of the costs of things and make them own their decisions.

Slow travel is a great idea and my preferred way to go. I'd love to do some hiking in South Africa. It's so beautiful there.
