This Week's Chat is in Support of AARP and Ad Council

This week, our chat is in support of AARP and Ad Council! Amy Goyer, AARP’s caregiving expert and author of Juggling Life, Work and Caregiving, will be joining our chat, tweeting from @amygoyer.

More About Ad Council and AARP

Here's a message from Ad Council and AARP:

More than 40 million Americans are family caregivers, caring for parents, spouses, partners, and other adult loved ones. To help caregivers get the support they need to care for themselves and their loved ones, AARP and the Ad Council have created the national Caregiver Assistance campaign, which directs caregivers to aarp.org/caregiving to access free Care Guides, self-care tips, planning resources, legal and financial guidance, and more.

Caregiving can be a rewarding experience but also a stressful one, potentially causing financial stress. On average, caregivers spend roughly $7,000 ($6,954) per year on out-of-pocket costs related to caregiving. This translates to nearly 20% of their income on caregiving expenses.

AARP’s resources can help caregivers manage their needs and their loved ones’ needs – including preparing for the financial demands of caring for a loved one through aging or illness. Find more information at aarp.org/caregiving, including the comprehensive Prepare to Care guide available at aarp.org/preparetocare.
