In the summer of 2008, it became clear that the economy was in trouble and families were hurting. Seeing a need within her own community, Debra set out to educate others about what she had learned of budgeting and cutting grocery costs significantly. She created a successful blog, "A Frugal Friend," which was designed to help families reduce their expenses through grocery deals, coupons, rebates and by receiving free products from reputable companies. Debra learned all this when she traded in high-powered suits and high-heeled shoes for a new role as mommy - crayon enthusiast, storyteller, and kisser of boo-boo's. With a new role as a stay at home mom came the loss of two-thirds of the household income. Although expenses were increasing, she was determined to cut the family's budget to ensure that she could stay home as long as possible. She was able to do just that and more.
