About: My name is William Allen. In my first post, I wrote about the origin and philosophy behind this blog. I’ll paraphrase that here: Earn What You Spend explores financial independence in the United States: where we are, where we’ve been, and where we need to be, as individuals, corporations, and a nation. Financial literacy is the common term, but it’s more than just decoding the facts and figures. It’s our ticket to freedom, education, retirement, and, by extension, a strong and prosperous country. Earn What You Spend is a lens through which our contemporary economy can be analyzed and hopefully fuel a reversal of negative savings and cash flow. So who am I? I’ve been an entrepreneur since graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I currently own a digital consultancy called Industry. I’m also on staff at the TED Conferences, where I work on the partnership team. All of my work stems from my passion: facilitating the transmission of great ideas. The opinions expressed here are, of course, my own. I’d love to hear from you via a comment or an email to william (at) earnwhatyouspend (dot) com.
