The Wise Buck is a personal finance blog designed for regular people who would like to make wiser financial decisions and enjoy a richer quality of life. For those of you inclined to become financially independent (by your own definition), this site will show you strategies of how to get there with a few less bumps along the way. The motto is pretty simple: Get out of debt, save more money so that you can live an inspired life. That just means your waking up and looking forward to what you are doing every day. When you make wiser decisions with your money, your life will improve on all fronts. Hi, I'm Mike O'Sullivan. I am the founder and editor of The Wise Buck. I've spent the last 20 years of my life in the world of personal finance and investments. During this time, I've managed money for individuals and corporations, designed wealth accumulation and preservation strategies, worked on the front lines as a trader for one of the largest investment banking firms and was a mortgage banker during the last real estate bubble. I only mention this to give you an idea of the person writing these posts. Working in these markets has allowed me to witness fortunes built. I've also seen some of the hardest working, well-intentioned people lose everything because they didn't understand the concept of risk. In addition to The Wise Buck, I currently manage over $500 million in pension plan assets . Today, a great deal of my time is spent assisting and teaching individual 401(k) participants. Over the years, it became very clear to me that there was a tremendous need for unbiased education in the areas of personal finance and investments. This is what inspired me to start The Wise Buck. Ultimately, financial independence comes down to making better decisions with your money.
