I’m a 30-year-old guy living in Chicago. The whole personal-finance stuff started pretty randomly a few years ago. I read Robert Kiyosaki’s book, Rich Dad, Poor Dad. While Kiyosaki himself can be kind of controversial, I still think his book has done a lot to wake people up from the stupor most of us are in when it comes to handling and investing our money. And that’s just what it did for me—before reading it, I didn’t know or care about anything related to money or investing. So for that reason alone, I tip my hat to Mr. Kiyosaki. It’s thanks to him that you’ll read important pieces on why index funds are so great and how most 401(k) providers suck. I try to be creative around here, so you might see me relate money to boxing or even scuba diving sometimes. There are some other visionaries I should mention on this page. I’m a huge fan of Warren Buffett and his investment philosophy, as well as Peter Lynch and his great book One Up On Wall Street.
