Why not convert all federally insured student loans that resulted in a degree to a zero interest loan? If a person wants a degree, let him or her make a long term commitment that they can uphold.
Seems to me that independent financial counseling prior to obtaining a load should be a prerequisite. Universities are about making money, not educating students.
it depends on how we shop mostly. We get all our meats at Costco and some veggies. We supplement our veggies and organic products from either our local or asian grocery stores. Combined with the Costco Executive membership, we actually get a couple of hundred dollars back every year.
I think most of it is planning. It's the convenience vs cost saving model. Is it worth saving some time/ fighting crowds vs saving some extra money. There's no wrong answers, it's just how we would like to budget our time. I love clipping coupons, looking at sunday salespaper, and dealing with crowds. I love to involve my kid in coupon clipping and going to the Costco. It instills money saving habits but at the same time, and more importantly, teaches them the importance of interacting with our community. Teaching our kids to interact with everyone is a basic function.
Sorry, got off the tangent alittle.
On the bleach: My guess is that the cup to the quart rule is about diluting the bleach. Maybe he dilutes the bleach, then pours the dilute solution into a washer full of water and soap. One cup of bleach to a washing machine full is the rule I'm familiar with (and our washer has a bleach dispenser).
Jeez Nora, your life sounds like a soap opera. At least you were able to make some lemonade out of lemons in regards to your post. Stay positive because this too shall pass.
I hope you recover from sickness very quickly and I am sorry to hear bad news about your situation. I'm sure you'll find someone better soon. I love the list you came up with. I get happy just reading them. Thanks for sharing in your tough times.
I think one problem is that parents and students subscribe to the notion of a "dream school"--and that finding this school (no matter what the cost) will lead to an increase in happiness. Private colleges are also complicitous.
i've had many students say that they assumed that the banks wouldn't offer the loans if the banks didn't think the student could pay it back. Since many students don't have any concept of debt/interest, they are stunned by the terms of repayment.
And of course tuition rose to meet the greater availability of loans.
I really believe that students are akin to the people who signed on for those scary mortgages: all are influenced by the "experts" who end up benefiting financially from the indebtedness.
Left a patch of duct tape out one day and came back to find it caught a roach. Will be keeping that in mind in future when the roach motel is not as catchy as it could be.
Im making mine this year! 80's prom queen ZOMBIE!!!! Just tearing up a old dress, teasing the hair, hairspray, hairspray, hairspray! To be extra frugal this year im actually making my zombie rotting flesh and blood with just a few simple items around the house! Happy Halloween!
I worked a job for six hours driving a 30 foot box truck. I told the guy I never drove a truck like this but would give it a try because I wanted to get off the system and back to work. I wasn't very good at driving the truck and was discharged after 6 hours. I am still waiting for the results as we speak. The employer told the arbitrator a bunch of lies saying I told them I was an experienced truck driver. My lawyer who I hired asked the company lawyer "Did you check his credentuals or backround before you hired him"? His lawyer said no. My lawyer then asked "If he wasn't qualifyed for the job why did you hire him"? The lawyer was silent and didn't say a word. The arbitrator then ended the hearing. I can't remember every little detail but I have gone 3 months with no income. I will have to let you know how it turns out. I never in my entire life lost a job in less then a days time.
I was a baker for five years, yet trying to convince my family member that the oven doesn't have to be perfectly preheated to cook fishsticks or frenchfries (or even most basic baked goods besides homeade bread) is like talking to a brick wall. Thanks for saying so
With all the holidays and celebratory days throughout the year, making decorations, or just decorating as well as baking yummy treats together is a lot of fun too.
Love the list! I would have a very hard time pulling choosing my top 10 out of there. We do have so many things to be happy about and grateful for. Every night before I go to sleep I try to remind myself of all the things I was happy/grateful for that day.
There are all purpose gluten free flour blends already made.. I recommend trying that so you don't have to go and buy different blends of flours. That will probably solve your rising problem :)
I actually won a costume through a giveaway :)

I think the last one (#25) is the best advice. There is nothing like playing with kids :-)
Thanks Ashley for the highlight! I just got notified today 10/30.
Sam
Inflation is really only good if as you mention your wages increase along with it
I like taking Thanksgiving week off from work to get a everything in order for the holidays -- makes December so much less stressful.

Some folks accuse me of already being in a scary costume, so I can get by without actually purchasing one. I just get dressed and am ready to go.
Our pediatrician asked us to try this with our young daughter several years ago. It definitely worked-quickly!

Nope. I won't be wearing a costume at all this year. It's more of a kid thing, after all.

Absolutely! We carved pumpkins yesterday and had a great time! :)
Right on Chris. What people need to recognize is that when the "government" pays; they really mean you and I pay!

We're making our own this year. Cost: about $8
