Since year one, my fella and I have made a tradition of eating at a cheap, not fancy restaurant every Valentine's day. We've eaten at the Golden Corral, the Shoneys, and even a White Castle once. This year we are going to Ponderosa. It sounds silly, but we really look forward to it. We pick our cheesy restaurant and then get excited waiting all year to go.
As an ex-Philosophy major, I'm a firm believer in the "living below your means" option for the simple reason that living below your means is a skill that you learn and keep with you forever, while the "making money" option may come and go. We all know that leading that ideal life is about "lifestyle" and not "money."
what can i use on my tv screen to take a scratch out we were moving it tip over on a rock scratch a line in it this tv is very heavy can someone help me please and tell what i can use?
Remember that the key to a successful Valentine's Day is to do something where you spend time inte racting with one another. Going ot th emovies is nice, but sitting in a dark room watching a screen doesn't beat something cheaper like board games, a walk, or just chatting by a fire.
We like to stay home for Valentine's Day. Being at home together is always special. I will make a romantic, candle lit dinner and make some chocolate dipped strawberries or chocolate fondue for dessert. The experience is better than random gifts for us.
For Valentines day my husband and I make a dinner together at home instead of eating out, which save a lot. We've also mutually agreed not to exchange gifts(flowers, chocolates, etc) with each other saving lots too.
I feel like it's such a better deal, to just spend quality time together!
You can't blame capitalism for the state of the economy today, because every single problematic issue we have is the direct result of a government attempt at social engineering.
Socialism is slavery. You're right - the US already spreads the wealth around, and look how that is working out. Since the New Deal, the corporations have been empowered, the rich are richer and the poor are poorer. The money we were forced to put in government funds for retirement was spend decades ago. The Medicare/Medicaid system is fraught with fraud and waste, and has done more to drive costs up than any other entity in the hostory of the world.

dont overdo it and buy the cliche things like heartshaped boxes with this or that and skip the fancy restaurants.
Buy a nice bottle of wine, stay home and cook together, shower together, make her breakfast with a small note saying something to surprise her, pay attention to each other, sit down and talk, just be... together.
Love is free to give and receive and I think the most frugal valentine's day gift is the expression of love- just take some time and put into words how much you love your husband/wife/significant other. You can write a good old fashioned love letter and that will be something they can cherish for years & will mean the world to them.
I've been working at a hotel for a number of years, so I have a few hotel connections. This Valentines Day I plan on surprising her with the following all for free on Valentine's Day:
5-course meal at the restaurant in the hotel
followed by staying in one of their suites
I made my hubby a card - I searched far and wide for the perfect quote to capture our relationship (finally found it, though it took me about a week of searching!) and really went all-out with the v-day paper, etc. I made (simpler) cards for all of my close friends and family with the same materials so I really saved a lot of money. On the day, we'll cook a simple dinner together, open a bottle of our favorite wine, and curl up in front of the fire.
I suspect this is not only a marketing technique, but a trial run for a sound labeling system disguised as a game, like Google Image Labeler and the ESP game.
My husband and I make "10 Things" lists for each other. Instead of spending money on more generic cards or getting stumped on long sentiments to compose, we write a list to each other of "10 Things" we love about the other.
Sometimes simple, sometimes deep, anything from "I love how you iron your own clothes!" to "I love how sweaty you look after doing a honey-do for me!" to "I love how you sing to our little one at night..."
When we finish our "list" we sneak it somewhere the other is bound to find it during the day; the lists I have been given are stashed in my nightstand so I can pull them out from time to time when I need a little reminder or pick-me-up :)

I found great website that has printable "lovers coupons". They can be redeemed by you or your honey! There are many websites that offer many options: cute & sweet or wild & crazy! It's free AND it adds so much spice to your love life...for many months after Valentine's Day!
One Valentine's Day when money was extra tight I thought up something I called the "Magic Box". I took a nice little gift box and placed a pad of post-it notes and a pen in it, and I gave that to my boyfriend for Valentine's Day.
At first he was confused, but I explained to him that the magic box made wishes come true, and if he wrote down romance-related wishes, we would take out the notes and do what was written on them. Kind of a spin on the love coupon idea, except he got to write what he wanted.
First off, the least expensive thing you can do is remember that it is Valentine's Day.
If I work that day and come home to a clean home, I'm a happy camper. I don't ask for much. Somewhere clean to relax with a nice simple dinner that I don't have to make. Oh, and do the dishes for me too :)

Flowers come from the grocery store, too.
My favorite romantic thing is to make dinner at home together. Get a bottle of wine and open it up and sip it together while you prepare dinner together. Then get dressed up fancy and sit at the dining room table with some candles and eat. Then watch a romantic movie in bed together...
for those like me who have small children, plan dinner out in a family restaurant, enjoy your family all together!!
