Definitely, a laptop! I had both a desktop and a laptop several years ago, but laptops have come so far and they can travel with you, so I switched. I recently purchased a MacBook Air and love it! I still have my laptop PC and run a virtual PC environment on my Mac, so I have the best of both worlds.

I have had a laptop for the past four years, but I'd like get a desktop next with a larger screen (20" or bigger) for these getting older eyes. Keep the laptop for the teens to use and/or take with me when travelling for work.

  • Should a Second Marriage Be Celebrated (and Paid for) Like the First?   15 years 11 weeks ago

I'm getting married for the second time in 25 days. I was all for eloping, but my groom wanted a family wedding. My first wedding was in vegas with about 40 people there. No shower, simple outing the night before for bachelor/ bachelorette party.. no honeymoon either. Also sad to say, not much of a marriage.
This time around, a little older and hopefully a little wiser, I decided to honor my soon to be husbands wishes. His family is excited. My family is excited..My friends are excited..
I had a bachelorette party and it was a lot of fun. Ditto to the bachelor party.
I had a bridal shower and I must tell you that I feel loved.
No we are not going crazy with the wedding, the cake is from Sam's Club, my dress was on clearance, our rings are simple.. and we're paying cash for the whole thing. I am also doing my own flowers with silk flowers that I am buying at 50% off.

We are being frugal but not cheap. We're having the DJ, the hall, the caterer.. and it's all paid for and it really wasn't as bad as you'd think. Certainly not as bad as what I thought when I agreed to have a more traditional wedding.

Am I asking too much to have my friends and family celebrate my happiness with me? I don't think so. I don't need gifts, or money. I am creating my own wealth. But I will always need the love and support of my family and friends.
They come or not, buy gifts or not.. as they choose.
As for me, I will be dancing and I hope they will come to dance with me.

At first I thought Laptop, but then you get an external keyboard and mouse, then a bigger monitor, and before you know it, your workspace is a desktop setup, but powered by this big laptop. If I had to get a new PC, Id go back to the Desktop... my phone is more then powerful enough for me, and If I need something like a laptop again, I'd go with an android tablet.

I prefer a laptop over a desktop. I've had both and I love that I'm able to take my laptop anywhere inside or outside my home.

Rodents have an extremely fast respiratory rate. If they hit water, they drown quickly...it's over in under a minute.

We have a desktop and laptop in my house. The kids have basic control of the desktop, however I still use it since we have a cabled printer.

Definitely laptop! Best for those of us on the go, ya know.

As an avid user of graphic heavy softwares, I personally prefer a desktop. It allows me to easily get upgrade components (video cards, add more RAM, etc.) and cleaning the parts. Also when you use graphic heavy softwares, it uses more memory and CPU so the fans are running at maximum. Since dusts will eventually clog up the heating fans. It is much easier to open up a desktop case than a laptop.

  • How to Raise Backyard Chickens   15 years 11 weeks ago

Thats funny! Our chickens, if let out of their coop too early in the morning, will lay eggs all over the yard. The kids have had fun trying to find them all (like an Easter egg hunt year-round.) One way we've avoided this is to wait until noon to let them out, regardless of how nice it it outside. Then they've all laid by the time they go out, and we know that they've likely laid them in their nesting boxes. My husband did get a nice surprised yesterday, however, as he opened his tool chest to find eggs in the bottom cabinet! They sure are crazy critters ;)

Hi, Happy Tuesday :) I'm at my laptop right now, because it's smaller, can travel with it, and I'm not someone that really does anything fancy that I need to upgrade or add to it. Though, in the end, as long as it is a computer and I can access the internet, I'll use it. LOL

Its my birthday - can i get a gift card just for that :-)
Jokes aside - i take a laptop ( i have a dell e6410) anyday - i do work all over the house ( am a mom ) and carrying my comp without worrying about how to lift the cpu is a definite plus for me :) not to mention it has 4gb and like 300gb memory

    Laptop anyday

    Laptop. It's all about portability.

  • Ask the Readers: Desktop or Laptop?   15 years 11 weeks ago

I have a desktop and do not have a laptop. I will most likely never get a laptop because it does not have near the processing power the desktop PC's have.

  • Ask the Readers: Desktop or Laptop?   15 years 11 weeks ago

I have both, a desktop and laptop. I use them both, one for personal use & one for business use. :)

  • Ask the Readers: Desktop or Laptop?   15 years 11 weeks ago

I have a desktop and no laptop. I like the power of a desktop while I find laptops underpowered. I also like the larger screen of a desktop.

I am considering getting a laptop so I can get online from anywhere.

  • Ask the Readers: Desktop or Laptop?   15 years 11 weeks ago

I have both-I like my desktop because it's on my desk. I can print things out, etc. it's always there ready to go. My laptop is nice when I am downstairs and have nothing in particular to do. Every laptop that I've had gets hot while holding it and I don't like that. I guess you can say I like both for different reasons.

  • Ask the Readers: Desktop or Laptop?   15 years 11 weeks ago

I don't have a very functional laptop, so I use the desktop every day. (My laptop was cobbled together using parts from other laptops. It is adequate for the task, watching movies with my daughter upstairs for "Girl Time", and that's about it.) I love the portability of a laptop, but it does seem to be a little strange to use it on a regular basis at home because of the size and position of the keyboard. If I was sitting in front of a computer all day, I would want a desktop so I can adjust the keyboard so that it is comfortable for me.

  • Ask the Readers: Desktop or Laptop?   15 years 11 weeks ago

I used a desktop almost all my life and I like it, but when we moved, I only had access to my laptop. So now i can say I love my laptop, but what I prefer about my desktop is the way the keys are. On a laptop its compressed, on a desktop you have the additional numbers on the side. Since I input a lot of numbers into a spreadsheet I use my desktop.

So overall a laptop is smaller, but the keys are better on a desktop.

    Thanks,
    Liz

I have both, but primarily use my desktop. It's expensive to get a laptop that is powerful enough for video editing. My laptop is just a barebones netbook for using the web.

  • Men: Why Frugal Is Sexy   15 years 11 weeks ago

Love it! I wrote a similar article on my blog about why frugality makes a woman sexy. My post was written in response to a NYT article about the fact that frugality is a turn-off to many people. Frugality definitely needs an image update! There were some good comments on my post about what makes frugal men sexy... I agree with other commenters here that security, responsibility, and maturity are definitely sexy (and hard to find!). Here's a link to my post if you're interested: http://hotfrugal.wordpress.com/2010/08/23/hotfrugal-hot-date/
