In my experience a local travel agent always will get me a good deal I can't beat using the web. I have had great succes with different small travel agents, they do the same kind of search I do but add their experience. Furthermore I have only one bill..
Your article has a lot of common sense in it as well, and I do realize organic claims are made more to make money than to be healthy, however, I do feel you took what they wrote way out of context.
“…they are produced without the use of antibiotics, added growth hormones or dangerous pesticides.”
"As it turns out, antibiotics were never added to milk or were ever present in milk. According to the USDA, all milk must be tested to ensure any antibiotics used to treat milk cows are not present in the end product. So, this cannot be a claim as it fundamentally untrue anyway. In fact, the terms ‘antibiotic free’ and ‘no-antibiotic’ are false claims that the USDA is trying to crack down on."
-----------------------------------
The key word is that they are "produced without use of antibiotics." Where is Horizon making any statement about adding antibiotics in the end product? That isn't where antibiotics are added in the first place. Because mass produced cows are fed corn (not natural) nowadays instead of grass, they have unnatural amounts of bacteria in their intestines and are more susceptible to disease. Also, in mass meat producing plants, cows are made to stand knee deep in their own and other animal's feces because of forced crowded conditions. Thus, many cows need to receive antibiotic injections regularly in order to survive such cruel and unnatural conditions. The fact that Horizon states that they aren't giving their cows antibiotics (which I how I read it) suggests that they don't make their cows stand in feces and other disgusting conditions which are kept hidden from the public by the food monopoly of a few mass-producing meat companies.
---------------------------------------
"Similarly, the same can be said of the other claims, regarding pesticides and hormones. First, hormones will always be present in milk; it’s part of the biology of a cow. To call milk ‘hormone-free’ is like making the claim that 90% ground beef is fat-free. But growth hormones, again according to the USDA, are only ever approved for beef cattle, plus lamb and veal. So, again another inflated claim. And by the way, Vitamin D3 is added to all milk…it is also a hormone. "
-----------------------------
I didn't even bother to read the rest of your article after this reckless statement:
The key word that horizon uses (that YOU quoted) is "no ADDED growth hormones". Sure, growth hormone and other chemicals are NATURALLY present, however, adding extra can cause an animal to develop improperly and thus produce less nutritious milk. For example, added growth hormones in chickens can make them incapable of even walking, as their muscles will devolop way faster than their bones can support, resulting in more desease and need for antibiotic injections, along with less nutritious meat.
Your little sentence about vitamin D being an added hormone is beside the point as it is not an added GROWTH hormone, which if you read your own quote properly, would have seen. Horizon states "no added GROWTH hormones"
Please don't post such blatantly reckless rants about something you put shallow thought into.
I am willing to accept that perhaps Horizon may not be better (even though it does taste better) however, I couldn't read anymore of your post after those paragraphs because you managed to take something you directly quoted and take individual WORDS out of context, not even reading the sentence right.
The Bible has many verses that caution those who take out debt and especially for what reasons one takes out debt for. Borrowing money to purchase assets (also used as collateral) that appreciate and earn a rate of return is not the kind of borrowing that the Bible is warning about.
If someone can borrow and create more wealth with the borrowed money, he is being a better steward of Gods money (i.e. Education, Business Assets, Home, etc.) Borrowing to purchase a big screen TV = not a good idea.
The Bible does not prohibit debt. However, everywhere that debt is mentioned, it is discussed with some very clear warnings. If you do borrow, you must pay back all of the debt. It is a sin to borrow and not repay. If you do borrow, you should do so only if you have a guaranteed way to pay it back.
Practically speaking it works like this: if you take out a loan with collateral (i.e. a home loan) and you put down a big enough down payment then even if the market turns against you then historically (real estate price wise) you should still be able to repay everything you owe even if you never made another penny for the rest of your life because of the large down payment and the house that can be sold to repay the loan. This is why debt to purchase assets (and especially income producing and appreciating assets where the underlying asset can be used as collateral to repay the debt even if things go horribly wrong) is not the kind of debt that the Bible is talking about.
This is especially true when you consider the fact that in the parable of the talents mentioned in the Bible the steward who puts his money out to earn interest is considered wise which if you take the inverse of your interpretation of Prov 22:7 would seem to imply that the steward was being a slavemaster (i.e. a bad thing) of the person that he was lending money to which is obviously not the case as he is praised for the wise business transaction and being a good steward of the resources his Master had entrusted him with.
Hope that this makes sense and thanks for the comment!
*roll* she said turn off the computer tv ect.and write on a pice of PAPER! Not the word document on the your computer. I mean really?! Are you that blonde?
The train can be a great way to travel, but the statement that it is less expensive cannot be taken at face value. It may be cheaper depending on where you're travelling from and where you're travelling to, but is almost always more expensive for people in my area. On a recent trip to DC, I compared the prices and strongly considered travelling by train, but found that it would cost over twice as much and would obviously take far more time for a trip halfway across the country.
If you can take the train, it's a great option. But don't assume that it will bring you any savings until you've compared costs.
I have found this wonderful application called Instapaper, it works very well with the Kindle.
It is a very useful way to collect articles and information from the web and the read off line on your Kindle. I wrote about my experience using it here: http://bit.ly/8TElnF
If you do not want to pay for the wireless delivery by Instapaper via Amazon, you can simply download the Mobi file from Instapaper's web site and copy it to your Kindle via the USB connection.
Once I started to pay attention to how caffeine was affecting me, I began to sleep much better. If I have tea in the morning and at around 3:00pm (when I really want a nap!), I sleep just fine. If I have a serving at lunch as well, I have a terrible time getting to sleep. I was unaware of this for a very long time; I drank tea early enough that I thought it wouldn't affect me 8 hours later. But it is the amount that really gets me.
Also, I find that it helps to do my face-washing and tooth-brushing an hour or so before I go to bed. If I do these just before, it wakes me up!
Yo, Zorcy. You're a pretty knowledgeable guy; can you help me out on this one, please? I was given 5 gallons of home-made carrot wine. It tastes like a strong beer, maybe around 8 or 9% stuff. I wasn't really too impressed with the taste of it, so I ran it through the still. After ditching the heads and fusels, I've got over half a gallon of 50%+ 'shine/ poteen, whatever you want to call it. The thing is, it has a slight smell, vaguely reminiscent of acetone. Is it possible that you could distill acetone from a fermentation of root vegetables? It burns with a blue flame, the same as ethanol. Could it just be a flavour that's particular to carrot wine? Or maybe running it through again might improve it?
I find that one of the biggest reasons for not having satisfaction by pursuing my interests is lack of opportunities for a single mother already stretched too thin. No money, and no time. Oh sure, just do this or that. Who watches my kid so I can do so? Who pays for the transportation or tuition fees to study?
Then there is the fact that I cannot seem to focus on any one thing, I am all over the place.
One moment I start to learn Russian and want to work overseas, teaching or something, working with endangered pandas.
Then I simply want to travel.
Live in a big city and socialize a lot.
Then I want to settle in a small village in Ireland and live a simpler quiet life.
Then I want to be a social worker or adviser.
Then I want to be an archeologist, or an actor.
You get the picture.
I need professional help I think. For free of course!
I enjoy the scenic train rides, the 4 feet or so of leg room, and the fact that they're usually so empty you don't have to share a space with anyone but the bottom line for traveling by train (Amtrak at least) is that you need to expect delays. I didn't have this problem so much in the Northeast region, but on a train from San Antonio to Dallas, we were delayed by 4....hours.... On the way back, my train wasn't even ready to leave until 8 hours after the listed departure time, and I ended up having to book a flight. So plan accordingly and bring enough movies and books to keep you company.

> As a small business person, FROM TODAY ON, rewrite any credit agreement to include the fact that the debt can NOT be discharged by bankruptcy (...). Then when someone who went bankrupt recoveres (...), YOU CAN STEP IN AND COLLECT.
No, you can't. As long as the debt doesn't fall into certain defined categories (student debt, child support), it is either discharged or a payment plan is set up by the bankcruptcy judge. Private clauses on credit agreements that you suggest are generally declared unenforceable by the judge. The creditor has no legal standing afterwards to collect - if the creditor attempts to do so multiple times, the judge will punish the creditor. That is the meaning of bankcruptcy PROTECTION - it is a protection against life long servitude to a creditor.
The basic question is:
How to select the to separate the wheat from the chaff? Looking at job databases to find a legit independent online job is not that easy at all - there are a lot of scam offers around!
I can taste the difference. And it's not tap water that I hate, it's a very popular brand of bottled water. I can not stand it: it tastes bad - at least to me. My family and friends have tried pouring it into other bottles or into cups to 'trick' me into drinking it. One sip is all it takes to identify it!
Of course, if I'm thirsty I'll drink it anyway but if I have an option I won't pick it up.
i do all sorts of things on my bed from sleeping to writing uo blog posts to watching movies, music everything. its amazing that most of the time(apart from last night)i have a good nights sleep. i think is that most of the time i say a short prayer to God in heaven thanking him for the ended day, it seems to work. sometimes i even drink very strong coffee and still sleep. the only thing that seems to keep me drifting off is loud irregular noises just before i drift off, like a neigbour playing loud music or something like that.i like the post btw
Quit trying to go to sleep! Trying will never work.
Thinking about a task or problem will keep you awake. Since you cannot think of two things at the same time change your thoughts to something pleasant and peaceful, real or imaginary, dull and stationary. A peaceful walk by a calm lake with still waters, or a speck on the wall.
And if that can't be done get out of bed and do an easy crossword, watch some dull, quiet, stupid TV, with or without a light snack. Even an hour or two seems unacceptable, but if deep sleep comes for the remainder of the night it's worth it.
Quietly relaxing in the latter part of the evening is most helpful in preparing for a restful sleep. Exercise, physical or mental, is stimulating and if done approaching bedtime might put you in a wide awake state that will not unwind easily.
Alcohol is *NOT* a stimulant, it is a nervous system depressant! In fact, research has shown that moderate doses may be used in insomniacs to improve sleep.
The comment about regional airports is true but you may not save money on the actual airfare but in other ways.
For example, I live 10 minutes away from Akron Canton Regional Air Port, and when I was booking my honeymoon it was determined that it was going to cost $60 extra per ticket to fly out of Akron Canton then it would to fly out of Cleveland. Trust me when I tell you this was worth the expense. A 10 minute drive to the airport the day after my wedding was much more enjoyable for me and my new bride then a two hour drive to Cleveland. Also to save on parking, I just parked in short term parking and had given my car keys to my parents who later that day came and picked up my car. Long term parking there is about $60 for a week. The security checkpoint at Akron Canton, on a busy day is about a 20 to 30 minute wait at the very most.
