I think Turbo Tax is a great program but I prefer a program from a lesser known software company, Drake Software. You can prepare and electronically file your return for about the price of the Turbo Tax Program. If anyone is interested check it out at www.1040.com/ebowers
just did that with my Canon Powershot S1 IS camera. Thought it was dead, called the repair number, and found it was a recall. I got a S5 for free in exchange, so I gained a $200 value in the process!
Comments here are welcome too, and I'd be pleased to talk more about the new features, but the forum is the place to post if you're hoping for a free copy.
My partner likes to fiddle with origami when he's bored, and he *hates* to throw anything away, so we have a box of origami... things in our house. We use them instead of packing peanuts. People love getting them, even though many of them aren't really anything - it'll just be some partial triangles, and some boxes, maybe mixed with an un-identifiable animal or two. I think they probably get a bit smooshed during transit, too.
I wouldn't really recommend making them for this purpose (though it could be a good rainy-day project for kids, I guess). It could also give you a use for any "duds" you might end up with from the above projects...
I downloaded my living will for my state from Compassionandchoices.org. You enter your name and address and then they email you instructions for downloading the forms. The downside is that they add you to their emailing list and ask for donations, but the forms are free and come with very clear instructions.
...not really like Moon Sand. I made this today with my daughter. It is a lot gloppier and doesn't hold it's shape like the real stuff. But, it is cheap, fun and easy to clean up- it glops together easily and when it dries it is just cornstarch and sand, so it is easy to sweep or vacuum.
Well, okay, maybe I shouldn't go that far, but any Mac-enhanced product makes the task less troublesome. I'm ready to try something new this year. My online tax helper is not fulfilling its promises!
My family loves this super easy "black forest" cake
1 box chocolate (or fudge or devil's food) cake mix
1 can cherry pie filling (I use a low-sugar type)
3 eggs
Mix the whole works together. Place in a 2.5 litre/ 3 qt microwavelable dish.
Put a saucer upside down in the microwave and the dish with the cake batter in it on top of the saucer (the idea is to raise the bottom of the baking dish a bit). Cook at 70% power for 15 minutes. The cake is done when it's pulled away from hte sides and the centre is no longer sticky (it may look quite wet, though).
You could frost this, but my family loves to eat it warm with ice cream.
This one hour DVD shows how to make moonshine with hardware stor items and grocery store ingredients that are readily and cheaply available. It show exactly what to do and how to do it, plus it's entertaining.
You can use the free version of TurboTax at http://turbotax.intuit.com/taxfreedom/ through the Free File program (check IRS website for eligibility requirements.) Last year I used H+R Block's free online filing app, and every year before that I had done my return by hand (very simple, because they were summer jobs during high school and college.)
This year, I almost threw in the towel and opted to pay the $100 to have a CPA do it all, because I had so many lifestyle changes (graduating from college, no longer being a legal dependent of my parents, and working full time) and income changes (HSA savings, 403b savings, freelancing profits). But the free TurboTax seemed to accommodate them very well, addressing each matter in detail. My return totaled about $1,100!
A lot of tax prep shops have a deal where they review up to 10 years of previous returns for errors, and for deductions or credits you didn't take, and will file corrected returns. I plan to do that a few years from now, in 2010 when I'm 26 and have paid taxes a full ten years.
Not only is it an awesome, unique way for you to promote your book, you should keep a journal and make your next book about your life and adventures on this tour...that would really be worth a read to all of us arm chair gypsy wannabees.
I'm ashamed to say that I never even thought of that! I generally skip recipes that call for bread crumbs because I never have them on hand, but I guess I don't have that excuse anymore.
Put it in a paper bag in a cool dry place. Let it sit for a few weeks, then grind it up in a blender for breadcrumbs.
My husband, who was exposed to this method growing up, thought the bread would get moldy. This happens only if the place you leave it is damp and warm.
Nice to know couches are being offered up for you, not only to surf but sleep on! And don't try to tell us you're not sticking your hands between cushions and pulling up change! That's okay. You can buy yourself something purty at the Dollar Store. Take care.
I have previously used Turbo Tax. However, this year my taxes got more complicated when I purchased a house. That makes me a little nervous to use the software but if it were free I couldn't resist. Thanks for keeping us up to date.

I like to use the origami book method with large sheet of paper. You can make a great pocket size book for your weekly notes.
What a fun post!
Awesome article...
I can't wait until my organization looks like the one above. MLM's really do work.
Do the research first.

I just wanted to make sure that everyone understood that the way to enter for a chance at a free copy is to post in the forum:

haha, that is a lot of effort put into packing materials! I guess if I got a box full of smushed origami animals in my package I'd be delighted too.

I just like to comment that it's cool that you used a picture of the Cal stadium. Go Bears!
Thanks for the chance to win. Having a program like this for the Mac is very important and is well received.

One of those, you don't know how important this will be until you need it things. Unpleasant to think of but very good advice :)

My wife will be thrilled to hear about the new Mac only features. Now I just have to win one!
