Are the weight restrictions ever enforced on carry-on bags? I've never seen any checks on carry-ons in or out of the US (granted, I don't travel outside of the US very often).
I find motivation in finding ways to streamline daily tasks, whether work or home related. Yes I'm one of those geeks who love discovering the shortcuts in Microsoft office programs.
For motivation on performing tasks (e.g., exercise) I tell myself that one hour of exercise is just 1/24th of an entire day. Or tell myself start doing the task for 10 min and see how I feel then.
I get motivated when I get something done that is on my list! Also a nap seems to motivate me some days.... dont' know why that is! But the more that I get done, the more I am motivated to do. Usually, a long term goal is a good motivation, especially when I am making progress on it. For example, going on a girlfriend getaway soon and I wanted to lose 15 lbs before I did. I am really motivated to get that done--and I'm almost there. 2 1/2 weeks left, 1 lb left to lose! Yippee!!
Hmm... I don't hate my job, but at times that it gets boring, I'm motivated by my free time after work and on the weekend... time with friends and family... making money for necessities and entertainment. And the boring moments do help motivate me to continue looking for a more interesting job.
My son motivates me. Because of him I am motivated to cook just about every day instead of ordering out. I have been cooking more and more from scratch as well, it's good for him and my hubby and I. For the same reason I get off my arse and exercise.
"...airlines also have strict weight restrictions for carry-on bags. The weight limitations differ from carrier to carrier, but typically you're looking at anywhere from 25 lbs to 45 lbs depending on whether you are flying domestic or international."
Not sure what airlines you fly with but in Australia our carry-on limits are substantially lower - 5kg/11lbs (domestic) and 7kg/15.5lbs (international) There's no way a person can carry enough clothing, toiletries and other essentials within those limits. Our CHECKED allowances are 20kg/44lbs (domestic) and from 20-32kg/44-70lbs (international) depending on carrier. And these were also the limits we had on our American Airlines flight in the US in 2009. If we had carry-on limits that high, there would be no room for passengers in the cabins, and we'd have to sit in the hold.
When too much "money" is supplied an economic phenomenon happens whereby the price of every good adjusts upward to absorb this excess, this price inflation from monetary inflation then starts a vicious circle of more printing whereby people lose faith that the "value" of their dollar is stable from year to year, month to month, week to week, ultimately day to day. Ultimately the govt. puts futile wage and price controls that exacerbate the problem. That is when people eventually come to realize the paper their money is printed on is worthless and they won't exchange it at all. If you want to see what the "adding of zeroes" does to a currency check out South American countries, Zimbabwe, Weimar Germany, etc., etc. etc. The result is always the same, the U.S. will be no different. Gold was not a failure, it worked wonderfully to back american currency for 150 years. The paper money could be traded and changed easier, but it was just essentially a bank RECIEPT for the real money in your account - gold and silver. Our greatest founding fathers warned of fiat money... and guess what? They were right - you just have no breadth of historical knowledge to understand the dire situation we are in. It has taken less than one man's lifetime for the country to go from the most prosperous on earth to the largest debtor nation in world history - we are in the final death spiral of the dollar.
I have read widely about this new development in air travel and it is my understanding that 'fees' are not subject to taxes for the airlines-- so they have found a tax loophole that allows them to generate income without an additional tax burden. If the checked baggage charge were rolled into the ticket price, the airline would have to pay tax on that amount. So we taxpayers/flyers are paying twice on this one-- for the new checked baggage fee and again as taxpayers who have to pay more of the tax bill that airlines have cleverly avoided.
My sons motivate me. At 48 years old I went back to school. I wanted them to be proud of me. My youngest was a freshman in high school at the time and I wanted to be a positive role model for him. If I could do college, he could do high school. Here it is 2010, in 2009 I achieved an Associate of Arts Degree while maintaining a Crimsom Scholar status and he is a senior and just won the Gates Millennium Scholarship. My oldest was an honor student all through his schooling and is doing fine with his life.

Simply put, the fact that I have my dog at home to lick my face when I feel down and family at home that cares for me. Knowing that someone's at home thinking of me and looking out for me helps to erase fear and doubt from my mind and gives me motivation to try most things out as I please
I have a total fear of failure. I hate the idea of letting people down or not accomplishing my goals. So, I feel like I have no choice but to keep moving forward.
I teach at a community college, and it's often discouraging. But, then I remember one of my first students. The second day of class I called on her by name and she just said, "You know my name?" Her expression was so heartwarming- she said afterwards that she was overcome that a teacher had actually bothered to learn her name, that someone in academia actually cared about her as a person. Everytime I get feel like I'm banging my head against a wall just trying to get my students to listen to anything I'm saying, I think of her and how something as simple as me remembering her name made a difference.
Great post. It's interesting how many people aren't aware of their employment rights. Most of us go about doing whatever the superior requests or demands for fear that questioning their authority or the safety of the task could land us with a pink slip.
I think it's important to add that we have the right to go into business for ourselves too. It's okay for us to leave whatever we're doing and be our own boss.
I remind myself of every time that someone told me I can't, that I would fail, that it was beyond me, and then i remember how every time I've proved them to be wrong.

Personal pride to always do my best motivates me.
And of course, money.
Marshmallow
It contains gelatin. Not the best thing to ferment. It is made from animals. You would be fermenting sugar and beef.

can you use marshmallows to make alcohol instead of sugar, along with yeast and water?
