For those who complained about "unfair share" of tax on the rich, let me also provide this statistics from government study of wealth distribution:
- top 1% of the poupulation owns 34% of total assets in this nation - top 20% of the poupulation owns 85% of total assets - the bottom 80% claims only 15% of the assets
As you know assets generate capital gain, interest, and rent. These income are almost effortless. (say compare to coal miners.) Those who wrote articles like "bar stool economics" never cite these statistics side by side with tax burden. I think we need to consider the whole picture. Tax is an unpleasant fact of life. But US tax burden on the rich is less than most, if not all, OECD countries. It is a necessary evil. And I think the rich should be a bit more compassionate toward society.
Wall Street Banks are lobbying against centralized clearing house for derivatives trading because $20 billion of revenue is at risk, according to WSJ. But without centralized clearing house, it means future government bailout is inevitable because society can not afford the melt down of the entire financial system.
From this example you can see anyone's wealth has to do with how the law is written. That centralized wealth I quoted above has a lot to do with US law and lobbying.
I think when considering tax policy we need to factor in these facts. The bottom 80% who owns only 15% of all assets obviously don't have the resources to do much lobbying.
bubble milk tea is a drink that originated from Taiwan. It's a number of drinks with tapioca pearls. It's also know as "boba". There is actually a whole wiki page about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bubble_tea
My latte factor is probably a certain kind of energy drink mix I like that now only seems to be available from one place online instead of at any local stores (which means shipping costs). I keep trying to find a substitute I like as much... but with no luck to date.
"As long as you are committed to saving consistently, you can build up your nest egg and still keep the small expenditures that enhance your life"
I could not have said it better. I hate hearing cut off the cable, lattes, lunches. Normally it's the big expenses that keeps people drowning. Mortage, Car, big ticket electronics.
@ medical insurance... I have a catastrophic coverage plan with Blue Cross ($300/mo for myself & 2 kids) plus an HSA account. I recommend this setup to anyone who is basically healthy. We get the Blue Cross negotiated prices for our regular checkups, lab work, etc, which we pay for completely out of our HSA account... usually just a few hundred a year. The only year something really happened & my 12 year old had a burst appendix complete with 4-day hospital stay, we were responsible for the first $5400 in bills (for the whole year, including regular visits & such) & then Blue Cross paid everything beyond that. But I negotiated the hospital down $1200, so we really only paid $4200 for the year. Other people I have talked to had to pay a full 20% of hospital costs. With this plan, it was completely covered once we hit our deductible. BTW, my husband's employer covers him free & offers a group plan for employees' families... their rates can't touch what I found on my own.
"Let the government tax our fatty treats, and let them use that money to pay off some of the debt, or create new jobs, or rebuild the crumbling bridges and infrastructure..."
No offense to the author, but this sounds like something a Liberal highschool student would say. Call me a pessimist, but the past few administrations don't seem too interested in paying down the national debt anytime soon.
willie-boy, you are correct on the post. Too bad about the grains and moss. I made some vodka with sugar and aged it with burned and toasted white oak shavings. Added a touch of vanilla and sugar. It would fool you if you saw it in a crown royal bottle. Very nice taste. Colour was right on. All I had to do was run the wood off with a triple coffee filter 2 times.
Believe it or not, this will be the 3rd time I've typed this. Silver solder is good, JB is bad. Don't solder the lid, use the rubber seal so you can take apart and clean. Use black or red silicone sealer, its temp and chemical resistant. There was a safety on the original lid, you should leave it. There is usually a relief that releases steam or chatters on the older units, leave it there. It releases at a pretty low pressure. That will be way above what you need the still to run at and will work as an extra safety.
Ok, sorry I got a little pissy. I still didn't get an answer. Again, my questions. Silver solder. Is it ok underneth my lid? JB weld ontop of my lid. Is this ok? Its ontop, not underneth. Again, is a ball bearing or marble on my lid a good enough pop valve. These questions would be greatly repected to be answered. If this forum isn't working my email is liviniuk@hotmail.com any and all responses would be very appreciated. I moonshine for a hobby and the more responses the better. I appreciate guys who've done this longer and have more experience than me, and would love the input. Thank you. Any emails are welcome. Thanks guys
Nice article with truly important message and guideline.Keeping the records, receipts and vouchers is really important for ones credibility and protection.People should be also aware of the basic IRS guidelines which would help them in the long run.
Wallet with a bit of cash, including an "emergency" stash, check card, driver's license, calling card, a couple of store reward program cards and 3 gift cards.
Mini address book. Feminine supplies. Nail clipper, Toothpicks in holder. Hard candy. Hand lotion. Little notebook. Pen. Cell phone. Kleenex. Some meds. Insurance cards.
thank you so much, I also called the usps number, but they only know regular post office hours, I can also get than info in the web. I'm in the LA area, it took me half hour to find it thanks again
I carry my driver's license, two credit cards, one atm/debit card, and a bit of cash. I am currently also carrying a whole foods gift card, two business cards of professors at my college, and my college id card.
Zorcy.haveI got this right? If you post a comment on the "reply" box, it'll come up on the box after the one you have just replied to, even if there have been other posts in the meantime/ But if you go to the top of the page and "post new comment" or whatever, it will appear as the last thing anyone said? In which case, we'd all be better advised to "post new comment" to keep this in some sort of chronological order. I saw your reply about the silver solder even if liviniiuk didn't; but it seems to have been erased now.And cracked grains are a bit hard to get hold of round here........peat moss of any description is a protected species!!Have to stick with the white sugar and potatoes for the meantime......

Thank you!

Lattes is more like 4% of the problem

I carry a small backpack, and along with the normal things, lip-gloss, keys, and wallet, I carry a homework, book, and coupons.

Driver's license and debit card (paper clipped together), car key, lip balm, phone. Anything else would be clutter.
