These are some really good suggestions. I find that working full time and having a family of four does warrant eating "frozen" meals sometimes. But they are often very delicious.
I am already out of college. I now owe a lot of money for school. My parents helped me through with money and academic advice. When I applied for loans there was a line called the "estimated family contribution." This number seemed to have nothing to do with the amount of expendable income my parents had. People with rich parents must have an "efc" of like a bajillion dollars. Then I thought...what if my parents set up a company that pays its employees on a sub contract basis(read: file a 1099). Then instead of "giving" money to their kids...they pay them as subcontractors! But wait! you may say... then the tax burden is simply transfered to the kid. Well, the Hope scholarship should take care of any tax liability of the student, not to mention the money that a parent gives to their college student kid will be tax sheltered as money paid for the operation of a small business. I wonder if this would work in real life?
As a small business owner, I get the value of following these great minds on twitter and reading their blogs. What I haven't figured out, however, is when I am supposed to do all of this? There are so many folks willing to share their ideas and expertise digitally as well as in old fashioned ways like magazine articles and newsletters that I find myself just ignoring everyone - which doesn't help me grow as a business owner (but does let me have time to actually visit with my kids - not just text them).
I always thought that the first 15 years of my life were my worst but after 30 years of trying to change the more I've become convince it wasn't just 15 years but 45.
I think this is a fabulous idea. For those of us who are watching our weight, pre-portioned servings also make it much easier to make sure the amounts we are eating are appropriate.
Orman is a hack. I used to read her books and watch her show regularly, but I'm sick of listening to her tell people to walk away from debt! She continues to enable bad behavior and to blame it all on the bid bad banks. I hate the banks too, but it's time for people to take responsiblity for their actions!
Too bad SOME of us need that crappy ass job to pay for tuition. But, thanks for letting us know that the students who get their parents to pay for everything not only get to have more fun, but apparently are more likely to get their dream job due to having more free time.
Thanks...
Now, how about a follow up on a similar subject. Dated Medications.
A little dangerous legally, I suppose, but prompted by the US military study that found that most out of date tablet medications could be used without danger, though in some longer term cases, with minor loss of potency.
Another interesting subject would be the idea of sharing medications that are no longer needed, with others who still take them, in order to save money. I my on case, I had about $300 worth of a common drug left, when my doctor switched the medication. Instead of throwing the drug away, as the pharmaceutical companies suggest, I was able to help out a neighbor.
As a senior citizen, my guess would be that many of my peers have hundreds of dollars of medications that are no longer prescribed, and could be helping others.
I have no idea how to do this sharing in a sensible manner, but hate the idea of wasting perfectly good commodities. Amazing to me how many people who work tirelessly for charities, can just throw away valuable medications instead of helping those who can't afford them.
Well, I really admire Elizabeth (and her mom!) for having the foresight to do this! I remember my college eating habits, ugh! Last minute Kraft macaroni, Jack-in-the-box drive-thru, just awful stuff. Your organizational skills in your cooking AND studies (no doubt!) are to be applauded! Good luck with law school! Everyone else, be kind!
See the movie maxed out. And read 'outrage' by dick morris. Congress was paid off by the credit card companies in 2005, that is why the bankruptcy laws changed in favor of Credit card companies... makes it nearly impossible for consumers to get forgiveness on their debt and get a fresh start. Our fine government looking out for themselves as usual. You can get a chapt 13 if you're lucky, but most people default on that and are trapped in it forever.
the government and big business wants us in debt for sure.
The World Is A Very Big Place - what the hell is an ALDI? (OK, I know now - I looked it up - but there aren't any in my whole state, let alone my vicinity.) Don't assume it's universal, or that you don't need to clarify and perhaps suggest an alternative.
They're currently all around $160 each way...2 stops. The fares change multiple times a day though and you can get it for as low as pennies. Its worth it if you are flexible with travel dates. I just flew to Ny and back to FL for $150 total for 3 adult passengers...you can't beat that price.
By making and freezing meals like this you are avoiding giving into fast food. And, I'm pretty sure this is much healthier (and tastes better despite being frozen.) And, as a law student (grad student/full time undergrad working 30 hours a week), there isn't always even a half hour of tv to give up for cooking.
I also got one free my local pharmacy. It works great and although I dont take medication regularly, it could be a real savings if I did.
I currently have 470k worth of debt - Follow my journey to financial freedom

i'm sorry, the ...what comment was meant to be a reply to #20. I'm confused as to what's going on there.
...what?

I had to laugh about your meatloaf, I do the same thing! I just cook for me and my DH, so we don't need the larger loaf. I use a recipe from Kraft's website - http://www.kraftcanada.com/en/recipes/barbq-style-meatloaf-minis-111404....
I like it because you can make variations, the mexican style one is nice, especially when you have just a bit of salsa left in the jar.

Don't overlook getting coupons directly from the product manufacturers. Visit the company's website.

Hello, Can anyone advise me as to how to make my Sony BDP-S360 Blu-Ray DVD Player Region Free?. Thank you.

Like the previous guest post on 1/6, I put in a review and never heard back beyond that standard email reply.
So I'll bump up the question - did anyone get any review work from usertesting.com?
