Boo Hoo. My Playstation 1 game won't play on my Playstation 3. Damn you, Sony!

My question is, if you're such a loyal Apple user, why don't you have the latest version of Leopard or Tiger? You're really trying to con us into believing that your G4 Cube won't handle an update to 10.4.8? Give me a break.

I'm glad you all enjoy the idea! It was featured in the Secret yes, but I actually put together vision boards before I ever discovered The Secret. (Not that it was my idea or anything!)

I approached it less as a way to change my life and more as just a fun thing to do, but the ways in which the vision board became a reality truly surprised me.

And Amy: it's great for the office - what a way to infuse some color and inspiration into your workspace!

    Thanks for the comments.

I warn you now this comment won't answer your problem but for those prepared to read on...to me the biggest advantage of the Apple hardware & software combo is that they are constantly on the cutting edge. But that comes with a hefty price, if you aren't prepared to keep up with Apple then it isn't perhaps the platform for you. It works for the techie like me but it isn't for everyone.

I've said it before though, it doesn't matter what OS you use if it works for you.

That said I did not realise that was an issue and it sounds very much like a dirty trick from Cupertino.

This is normal, Kris! Don't worry! I had my fair share of panic attacks, moments of serious questioning, and sanity checks.

All I can say is that after the plunge, it gets way easier. As you sell things, people will ask about your story, and you can start to enjoy sharing your passion and why you are purging with people - it will remind you of why you're doing it.

And now, a full year into my travels, I have turned over a new leaf. It's amazing!

  • How to Deal With Collection Agencies   18 years 21 weeks ago

I was wondering if the person who wrote about the unknown school loan was able to solve the debt issue. I was also uninformed about debt sent to collections on a car that was towed while I was working abroad and we thought it had been stolen, until more than a year later when I pulled up a credit report I found a $1000 bill on my credit report. I don't know what the laws are on informing people regarding debt.

    Hey Nora,

Have only been subscribing to WB for like a month, so this may be a stupid reference, but the vision board concept is one of the techniques used by John Assaraf from 'The Secret'. In his case it worked to perfection, in your case it seems to be pretty accurate as well.

I guess I'm going to have to create my own, I already see the images.. now its time to manifest everything.

One of the reasons I will never buy an Apple product.

I won't buy into their marketing machine!

  • Longtime Mac Users Punished for Loyalty   18 years 21 weeks ago

I had the same problem with a friend who bought an Ipod Mini, but was still using the older Windows 98. Itunes didn't work with it so she couldn't use it the Apple way.

Luckly, there's a great open source Ipod firmware called Rockbox available for many Ipod models with turns the Ipod into an mp3 player that plays almost any non-DRM file format and doesn't need Itunes to transfer files to it.

As a recent Mac convert I was surprised to hear about this, but it does go to prove that at least Steve Jobs and his guys have learned something from Bill Gates and the heretics at Redmond: Once you have the product everyone wants, you can start to abuse that power absolutely.

It's a shame, a real shame. Charge your customer a fortune for the product and then make them pay extra to use it. Oh how the mighty have fallen...

  • Trying Out CVS Madness   18 years 21 weeks ago

    Hello,

It sounds like your first CVS trip was much like mine LOL. Shopping at CVS does take experience. I've been shopping there for well over a year and just this past January I started keepign track of what I was spending and happily it turns out I'm getting PAID to shop there.

Just this morning I wrote a post about all the stuff I got and how much I got paid to buy it. (hint rebates help a lot!)

    Here is the link

Archos 605 wifi probably comes closest to what you're looking for.

I'm a long-time Mac junkie, too and probably will be for life (being a designer), but I have noticed they've been pretty domineering of late. It seems their attitude these days has not been not to reward loyalty, but to expect it. That's a pretty bad move for any commercial entity to make.

I am working on this project myself and plan to add this to my office space. Thank you for the inspiration!!

    ha!

It's like cleaning products, but more overt. If you want to use a swiffer, your mop won't work.

And I"m loving that the only other comment on here is spam for web hosting. There's nothing about web hosting even in this post.

  • How to Get Rid of All Your Crap   18 years 21 weeks ago

i feel myself moving towards a more internationally nodamic lifestyle (which wil require me to do a severe purge) and i will admit that it is scaring me sh*tless. i noticed my breathing becoming accelerated, and my heartrate, irregular, just from reading the stories on this page. why? what to do? i have a storage space waiting for me to deal with it, taunting me. i've just been blaming it on the fact that i'm an earth sign, and therefore astrologically predispositioned for attachment to material items. but that's making light of something that is beginning to look like a disease.

  • Keeping The Budget In Budget Travel   18 years 21 weeks ago

I always ask myself, "Can I do this at home for cheaper / better?"

If I can, I usually don't do it. But when I can't, it doesn't really matter about how much it costs as it's often a once-in-a-lifetime experience. And if it looks like a memory in the making, well, splurge...

This little trick will end up saving you money and giving you better experiences in the long run. Even though that heli-trip in Rio de Janeiro feels extravagant right then, you won't regret it in a year's time.

But the extra drinks in the club? You won't even remember having had those so save your money.

Basha's used to have similar events when we were still in the Southwest.

    Great coupon combining, Xin!

I've done this with and as an individual, but never with a family and usually to see what might be bothering me that I can't identify.

You've used the same activity to figure out a life path. LOVE it!

We've been feeling for a while now that while we love it up here, we really need to be somewhere warm for part of the year, and that there is another level of extreme downsizing / simplification we have to do when we finally get our things out of storage.

Maybe we need to find some old magazines so we can get an even clearer picture.

BTW, I'm really digging these awareness activities you've been posting about.

Yes, yes! I have been playing the Prosperity Game (http://www/choosingprosperity.com/game) for about a week now and, while the game is stretching me in many ways and opening up possibilities, I've sensed something missing. Instead of just words, your idea attaches images that go straight to the emotional brain. I'm sure this can be very powerful.
I'm headed to the cellar right now to dig out an old bulletin board that's been knocking around down there. My modification to this project is to use a bulletin board and push-pins--partly because I'm too lazy to paste everything down--and partly because I expect the vision to change wildly as I begin to bring it into form. I'll be moving things back and forth on that board until the image "clicks."
First thing up--a picture of my house--the one I live in now, on thirteen acres in the country in Vermont. It is a dream that has already come true and an inspiration for all kinds of dreaming. "Want what you have" can be the greatest starting point--not that I intend to limit myself to what I can already see!
Thank you for this post, a great start on a grey and icy February morning.

  • Tips for Perimeter Perusing at Target   18 years 21 weeks ago

In the olden days Target had much better clearance sales. When they stopped doing that, I stopped shopping there for many years.
I'm back now, but the sales policies haven't improved much, in my opinion.
One thing to watch out for is merchandise that has a red sticker but the price is actually the original price. I have seen this frequently enough to warrant a second look at the price.

...and tip my hat to some fantastic frugal shopping Xin. I am printing out those lists and hitting up Safeway next week. I think it would be interesting to see just what people can squeeze out of this promotion. I wish I liked rice-a-roni!

  • 20 New Things You Can Make With Old Denim Jeans   18 years 21 weeks ago

I love some of these ideas. I think I will try the patchwork on an old sweatshirt that feels good but is too paint stained to wear in public. Could even use metallic threads to stitch the patches on. Might be a great jacket.
