I've been searching for Myscha's recipe on the site, I used to make it all the time, but I can't find it, wish I wrote it down. Oddly enough, my comment on Myscha's recipe from years ago, is at the bottom of Meg's recipe for breakfast cookies.
My goal this year is to read through my Bible. Working on that. Otherwise, we're going to London/Paris this year and we're excited about our first family overseas trip!
When you have a limited budget, it's really important to save on food costs. Cooking from scratch (instead of buying pre-cooked and convenience foods) and planning your meals around grocery sales can help stretch your money further.
I have a bunch of new goals. We renovated our house and are moving back in soon, so my goals revolve around organizing and finances (to pay off renovation costs). I also have an eat better goal, which is mostly to get back on track from holiday season.
Sure, it's commercialized. That's what helps card shops, candy makers and the like stay in business. We do celebrate it since we grew up on this day. Remember Valentine's parties in school?? We exchange a card and lottery tickets that day. No big deal.
This year, we will try to find the best way to afford college- once our child is accepted. Right now, we're filling out scholarships and crossing our fingers on those. We believe a student loan will need to be done as well as any scholarships directly from the college. That will be our biggest challenge.
My goal for 2015 is to move forward in my life. A lot of things were put on hold in 2014, or did not change for the better. I'm determined to be able to buy our next house, after waiting to try and sell our last home (didn't sell, currently renting it out). Since we have no equity (grr) to carry over from our last house, we're working to save everything we can in order to have a decent down payment. I'm so very tired of renting.
My goals are to try and lose 25# more this year (I lost around 30# last year). I also want to save enough money to get our house resided, and to have extra in savings, too. I also want to have all of our animals up-to-date on vet appointments, shots and medicines (we have a lot of pets!).
I just read "the Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up" and I definitely JUST did this to my wardrobe this weekend. My closet and drawers are now flawless! I kept a few things that I don't love, because they're either quite warm or work staples that I haven't replaced yet (two thin, slightly-pilled cardigans). I had more than a few items that still had tags on them. My new rules for buying clothes are it MUST fit, and I must LOVE IT.
I also kept one holey, old t-shirt because it reminds me of a beloved pet :3
My goal for 2015 is to learn to cook healthier for my family on a budget! I have so much to learn about food and ingredients! I have celiac disease and have to eat gluten free, and so almost every night I cook two meals..one regular and one gluten free. In 2015 I really learn whats healthy and whats not for ingredients!
For clothes, an inexpensive clothes rack on wheels helps a ton if you have the space. (About $20 at Walmart or Target.) I keep extra hangers there and put dry clothes on hangers just when they are done in the dryer. This saves a ton of time by not needing to iron as much, and saves money my not running things through the dryer extra cycles or unneeded trips to the dry cleaner for them to iron for us.
Because I've got extra space in my basement where my washer & dryer are, I even have a second rack for my husband's clothes. (He puts them away, but sometimes all our clothes on one rack just gets too full.) If my kiddo's wardrobe changes, I can see a third one coming in to the mix. Because the racks are on wheels, even folks who have less space might find room to store them in a closet if it's not Laundry Day.
Carry a baby to full term with a max of 20 lb. weight gain. (Dr. recommended)
I was just sent one of these in the mail yesterday. It was a mastercard debit card, which I never applied for. Glad I didn't activate it.

To get up to speed at my new job
Well, for 2014 it was to get $10000 into an emergency savings account. Since that didn't happen I guess I'll have to stick to that goal.
Here's how to do it mathematically for 2 people. For example:
Person A spent $10 this month
Person B spent $4 this month
Subtract the smaller amount from the bigger amount: 10 - 4 = $6
Divide that by 2: 6 / 2 = $3
The person who spent less, Person B, owes Person A $3.00 for the month. This way, they both spent $7 on groceries this month.
Crosscheck Person A's finances would be -10 + 3 = -7
Crosscheck Person B's finances would be -4 + -3 = -7

Track grocery spending and write it down with every purchase. Lose 15 pounds by June 2015.

To lose 10 pounds before my wedding in August!
My goal is to pay off as much of my student loan debt as possible - on an irregular income.
I also plan to hike in all seventeen metro parks around the city.
Thank you for including a link to my article. Rock on.
Have to disagree on the last one. A box of Rit can work wonders.
My daughter is a sophomore in high school. College is looming in the near future. I would like to save more money in 2015!
My goal is to build-up my savings account and work harder to bring in more clients to my graphic design business this year.
