Home school my 16yo son to the point where he will take his GED & go to college. I want to reorganize my tiny rv so i can hit the road for awhile when he does!
The most important things for me is to bring my kids over here with me, and blind a good life for them and pay all my credit cards, and buy a house, and have a career and happy life,
I would like to try one new and different thing every week - it could be a new restaurant, a different library, an art exhibit or lecture - and the list goes on.
Oh so many: 1) to continue paying down debt, 2) to keep adding a little more to emergency fund, 3) to lose weight and get in better shape, and 4) to travel more. I'm just taking it one day at a time right now and trying to make smart choices on spending/saving, diet and exercise. It's hard since I have never had much willpower, but I started working on all of these goals toward the end of 2014 and am just going to keep plugging away!
I am going to exercise 5 days a week, by having an exercise buddy-friend do this with me to help me keep on track! It is great to have a friend doing this with me-getting in shape.
We will be moving to a new house next month and my goal this year is to keep things organized. Now that I'm packing up for our move, I can't believe how much junk we've held onto. I definitely want to keep that in check from now on.
Hi, Helene. Thanks for writing.
Eight hours? My gosh! Wow. Well, I think you have some options. However, I have to wonder just how good a friend she is, if she monopolizes you and overstays her welcome, despite your already having addressed this. But to answer your question . . . 1) You could say, for instance, "Come on in, but I have a doctor's appointment, and I have to leave in twenty minutes." I suppose that's a white lie, but it may be easier than the direct method: 2) "Despite our having talked about your staying so long, last time you were here for eight hours. I really have things I need to do, today, so I cannot visit." The more honest, direct approach might cost you the friendship -- but would you miss it?
DON'T RUB YOUR LENSES
I just tried this on my polycarbonate lenses. Fortunately, they were my backup pair. The lens are now all scratched . . . in a circular pattern from rubbing them with the Armour Etch as instructed. Not sure what happened there. I've tried several times to remove the scratches by applying more Armour Etch, thinking that the coating was scratched. But the actual lenses are scratched. DON'T RUB YOUR LENSES.
I buy aluminum foil and zipper seal bags. My store does carry a lot of the big brand names though. I have been satisfied with the generic brands too though.
This article is false. The numbers don't add up. If Schroader was paying $5000 a month toward debt alone, then her net income would have well exceeded $60,000 a year. NET INCOME. That's crazy. You would have to gross over $100k to net that much cash. And that doesn't include income used towards day to day living. Absolutely ridiculous.
Job opportunities broaden? Do people really make commuting decisions based on something as volatile as gas prices? What happens when, in a year, gas increases by 50% - look for another job?
The same argument applies to refraining from buying a larger, more fuel-inefficient vehicle. Don't make long-term decisions based on short-term factors!
I agree with all EXCEPT the one on milk. Here in Pennsylvania, the milk prices are set by the state. You can go higher in price, but NOT below the state minimum. Most supermarkets & convenience stores stay within a nickle of that price-or no one would buy their milk. I grew up on REAL farm milk, never hurt me! I still have a few local farms that WILL sell me raw milk, but I never serve it to anyone but me. When the state finally clamps down on ALL raw milk...I just drive over the line to Ohio, and buy from the Amish farms. (Ohio isn't as paranoid OR "money hungry" as PA.) AND their gasoline is 50 cents a gallon less-so I always "fill up" when I am over there.
I have a question...i have a friend that stays for hours if i invite her in for a bit. I had a long chat with her about this a few weeks ago. Yesterday she stayed for 8 hours. She is completely oblivious to cues or hints. How do i get her to leave without being rude?
Purge my house, put dishes directly into the dishwasher, start law school.

My goals for the new year our to budget my money to save more and spend more time with friends!
My goal is to sell my house and use the proceeds to buy a sailboat that we'll live aboard.
It's a big goal with lots of tiny steps.

My goals for 2015 are to update and revamp our budget, save more efficiently and clean out our storage, time to downsize :)
I want to continue to build my emergency savings and start saving toward a down payment on a house.
My goal is to exercise more.
