I replace my phone when it breaks and can no longer be used. My current phone works so I won't be getting the iPhone 6 but maybe by the time the 7 rolls out I'll need a replacement.
Barter. Even if it's done informally, it's great fun. One of my neighbors had an awesome crop of tomatoes and I make dandelion wine. We have friendly back and forth in any case but I've noticed it's become a rather regular thing. And it lends itself to nice chats "over the fence". When the kids were little I'd swap kid's clothes with neighbors.
Forage. I've been dabbling in this for the past couple years, (certainly not hard core), after finding this wonderful patch of wild raspberries in an open space near our house.
Reuse. This goes for many things you might toss. Vegetable scraps become compost. Fabric scraps become quilts. Watermelon rind becomes pickles. Apple peels and cores can be made into jelly. Citrus rind into candy. In his retirement my uncle took up picassiette. The art of using broken pottery like you would mosaic tiles. Since he has a painter's eye his pieces are beautiful.
You're absolutely right, Brian. This has been a lifesaver for me too many times. There is no reason why we have to pay those pesky "convenience" ATM fees!
Expensive watches? Business cards? I don't think so. I carry cards, but they are simple, they give contact information. My watch is a Timex. Exercise is important, but I would think most, or at least many WiseBread users could exercise w/o the benefit of an expensive gym membership.
I agree with the commenter above who said you left out pocket knife. I also carry a flashlight, and a handgun and pepper spray for personal protection. I carry a small notebook and pen, and a handkerchief. Being successful is about being prepared, not projecting an illusion of success.
As a graduate that recently moved out on my own, I've began to shop for myself. These are great tips on how to implement my frugal lifestyle into my shopping choices.
I really like the sounds of a lot of these, but the biggest problem I am having with recipes with out meat, is a lot of them, actually almost all the ones I can find are lentils, beans, and soy, I can't eat soy at all, and lentils and beans only on occasion....
So what is a new vegetarian to do? :-)
Any tips or ideas please?
Awesome post! Two things I always hold on to are the empty paper towel rolls and toilet paper rolls. I love to use them when I do crafts with my daughter because they are so versatile. One day we could make a monster family and the next day beautiful flowers. I can never throw them out once a roll is empty.
While the beginning of the article starts a bit paranoid, towards the end I realized that it is just a thorough analysis of the society that we live in. People indeed gossip with reason and without, just because they lack any better conversation topics. Unless they make real damage to your reputation, the best thing is indeed to ignore all their talking. The others will be able to filter the gossip if they are smart enough.
I also don't throw these things. About the shirts, I just have these to be make-overed by my creative friend. Clothes are expensive and I want to find ways to wear different outfits everyday.
Colorado because of its beautiful views and being close to nature, but only if I can convince my grown kids to move there too, being with family and watching my future grandchildren grow up would be the best view no matter where I'm at.
At the risk of sounding like a real tightwad, I confess that I save the glass bottles from Snapple and Lipton Tea. The labels come off leaving a little glue that can be removed with DW-40 or a like product. I throw them in the dishwasher, but wash the caps right away and dry them - then I keep them in a cup in the cupboard. I fill them with cold water and take a couple with me in an insulated tote when heading out somewhere. Saves a ton and I'm not tempted to buy a sugar drink somewhere. (Because, lets face it, I'll buy chips or fries to go with it!). I bring one to work an fill up from the cooler as well. The plastic bottles may be bad for you - this solves the problem. It's not that hard - although you have to take good care of the caps - keep them clean and dry.
Saving money is all about what you are willing to do with your time. You can either spend time taking care of yourself and your family - or spend money and receive lower quality items and services. For example - homemade food beats takeout every time! What do you do with that saved time? Watch TV or play computer games? We all have to decide which has the most value.
I generally upgrade every two years. I also try to sell my old phone to offset some of the costs of the new phone.

I would only replace my phone if it broke...which hasn't happened yet (knock on wood!). I'm not interested in the iPhone 6.
About every year and a half. Sometimes I have to use my husband's upgrade
I would say just about every two years when I get an upgrade.
Good list. I could add a couple more.

Thanks again for your ideas.

I would love to retire to Tampa, FL

Seo is good for the middle price niche, and flippa is better for high value domains. Godaddy is good for cheapo domains.
Works for Patrick Bateman. :)
You have neglected to update this article. Amazon Prime is now $99.
I don't like this post. It promotes consumerism and classism...
Doesn't explain HOW to get Hulu to play on your TV

I want to retire in another country. Somewhere warm, right on the beach.

You forgot pocketknife on this list. That's more functional than either the watch or business card.
Same state, but we want to "retire" to a small farm.
