I don't know if you should NEVER do these. I use my cc for my mortgage and rental, medical, vacation, and bar tab. Of course I also pay attention to what I am paying, check the numbers afterwards, know what is available, and pay it off on time every time.
I earn a lot of points for these payments and because I know what is available I don't go over. Paying by cc at the hospital has actually resulted in lower charges than going through insurance (AKA a pre paid plan) because the hospital knows they are getting paid.
In the end, being smart with your money and you will have no problem with using a credit card as the tool that it is.
For sure this. We sell shaved ice and make a great profit on it (cups and spoons are our most expensive costs since we freeze water at our park stand) but when we work events, it gets kinda pricy for everything to be moved out there and set up (paying wages/travel) plus fees and stuff. We pay so much before we even sell 1 shaved ice. It's a high risk-moderate reward venture.
I love to head out to the beach, then stop at a brewery on the way home. Covered in salt water and sunscreen...maybe just a grocery store on the way home to grab a sixer.
I work a concession stand and our gig is shaved ice. Our shaved ice is $3 for a small (8 oz+ a snowball-sized dome) but the flavors are really good so it's quality, but we use the profit from that to subsidize our other products (because for some reason the owners wont mark up candy or soda enough to profit and we practically sell food for under cost) but since shaved ice (it's like a snow cone) has such a high profit margin we can barely break even. Us working events (we dont inflate prices but only sell shaved ice which costs us pennies to make) we can sell food for cheep at the park in the ghetto where I am now. Markup seems rediculous to you, but they have to pay workers (I make 8.50 an hour) and expenses (food/driving/equipment) so they arent pulling in 3 dollars on a 4 dollar corndog, they're making like 75 cents (if that) yeah it's kinda selling you the short end of the stick, but your other option is to bring your own food/tailgate, which will be a bigger hassle and cost you plenty
I completely agree with this post, and would actually take the idea one step further. I suggest you should avoid using the credit card altogether for any purchase unless made solely for convenience. With everyone having debit cards, what sound financial reason would someone have for using a credit card for any purchase, let alone the ten expenditures provided here. Credit cards are a relatively recent development in our society, and maybe we would be better off without them. This is a very important topic for discussion, thank you for bringing it up.
Great article! Very informative. I searched google for company that would buy my miles and I found cashformymiles.com. Very pleased with their speed , efficiency and overall customer service. Of course the fact that they were paying almost 20% more than the other sites didnt hurt.
Tell them Ted Wheeler sent you so I can get a referral bonus too ;)
I think my parents opened a savings account for me when I was in the third grade. I remember how excited I was when I made a deposit and saw that I earned a quarter in interest. I told my parents the bank gave me money for no reason
Great list of things NOT to say! :) I did not think about the "sold down the river" one. I've never used it but have heard it before. As for the powwow one, I have never heard that one. But I have heard this one "the lowest man on the totem pole." Not too fond of it. I'm native btw. Never hear about the highest man on the totem pole. Haha! :) Just kidding. Have a great day.
Great job. I was aware of the fact that generosity plays an important role in boost up for career.I found so many good points. Thanks a lot for sharing the insights with all of us.
I won't even lie; I stay inside sometimes even on nice days because I HATE the heat. I am totally a fall/winter person. However, a trip to the grocery store or the mall is always a great way to beat the heat because they always have their A/C blasting.
I drink lots of cold drinks to keep cool, and dress lightly. Also use a home-made spritzer made of peppermint essential oil and water. I spray this on my face/body throughout the day to keep cool--it really works!!
I've lived in a residence hall that doesn't have A/C for four semesters. The best way to keep it cool is to open the windows and curtains at night and close them during the day, always keep a couple of fans running, and invest in some of those cheap FlavorIce popsicles. Or, you can always just stay at the library all day.
I have VHS tapes from 1979 and early 80's they play as fine today as the day they were bought i got some unopened tapes from the early 90's i opened one and it plays well. the weddinng video is fine too plays like the day it was new too its got a bit of mold on it though but if you keep it in a nice dry place and dark it will live for many many many years more perhaps it will still be playable 50 years into the future and dont believe the things online 15 years is the minimum life if its being stored in a damp area.
When I can't afford to buy new clothes, I usually go to local charity and vintage clothing shops, where you can find some real gems for less than £50.
AWESOMENESS!
Not everyone has a debit card. As others constantly note, if you're smart with your money, there is no reason not to use a credit card.
I love to go to the library---I love to read & I don't have to pay for the A/C :)

Having nice cool smoothies for dinner when it's too warm to cook. Healthier, too!

I'm sorry, Paul, but I think you're really reaching with this one.

Let's just say the original word was NOT TIGER...

I beat the heat by staying inside in the air conditioning or going to the pool with my children.
Thanks for all the articles.

I want to JOIN really badly!!!!!!!
I make myself an orange juice slushy using orange juice, about 10 ice cubes and my blender. It always cools me down ... at least for a little while.
We open the windows at night to cool the house down and then close it up tight in the morning, Keeping all the blinds closed.
