  • Is Mechanical Breakdown Insurance Worth It?   13 years 43 weeks ago

Here are 4 reasons I see to get MBI insurance:

    1. It is advisable for those people who are going through difficult financial times and they still need coverage.

    2. It could help the people who use their cars with current repair issues. They most probably have not fixed them due to the expenses being a struggle.

    3. It is helpful for drivers who commute for long periods in rough journeys.

    4. It is better than a warranty for it you do not lose coverage once you get out of your business. This protection is covered by the guarantee of the state insurance.

Poliseek really has some competitive quotes.

When it is summer, making cheap nutritious dog treats that cool them down. For example, Mixing no-sugar added peanut butter, brown banana, and fish oil and stuffing it inside of her toy KONG and freezing it. She LOVES it.

  • Ask the Readers: How Do You Save Money on Your Pets?   13 years 43 weeks ago

How do we save money on our pet? Easy! I've worked in shelters and money is always tight in no kill shelters.

Saving with a vet: First, Keep them healthy and they won't need one, all the dogs and cats and even birds we have ever had always ate a healthy diet. Apple cider vinegar does wonders for them (even birds), a small splash in their daily water and it balances their PH, keeps them energetic and also keeps fleas and ticks at bay since they hate healthy flesh..Just 1 splash! Forget dog food its bad for them and it gets expensive, buy a small tub of chicken liver (cheap) and some brocolli and carrots. If you want look up a natural balanced diet for a dog (or cat) and steam it up and put it in a food processor. They only need a small amount and you can freeze the rest. If you really need a vet see if your local shelters vet can check your pet for a donation, cheaper than a clinic.

In the wild animals don't go to a store and buy their entertainment, animals are very simple! roll up a sock and play catch, teach them new tricks (they loove that), most of all just take them out fequently (yes even cats!) and give them lots of love and cuddles and you'll see that the way that modern sociaty has taught you to raise a pet is not necessary. They don't need trendy clothes, expensive toys, and dry manufactured food. If you want to give them all of that.. make it yourself, its cheap and easy!

Buy quality gear that will last, and buy when its used/on sale.

  • Ask the Readers: How Do You Travel Frugally?   13 years 43 weeks ago

We camp 99% of the time and cook our own meals 95% of the time. We tend to stock up on the majority of the food at the beginning of the trip where we know there are cheap stores, like Trader Joes, and then only have to restock or pick up perishables as the trip progresses.

  • Ask the Readers: Should College Students Have a Credit Card?   13 years 43 weeks ago

I have always had my own bank account, and my parents paid $0 for me to go to college. Before going abroad for a class, my dad forwarded me one of the many credit card applications I had been receiving and told me to apply for that one in case something came up. I didn't have to use it, but when I got back I started using it to pay my monthly cell phone bill to build my credit line. I have always paid off my monthly bill in full, and have since got two credit cards with good rewards-and have an awesome credit score. Parents should engrave smart spending moves into their child at an early age. I think a college student should have a credit card-but only one that is linked to their personal accounts. They then figure out smart use of it at an early age, and start off with good credit.

  • 5 Frugal Lessons I Learned From Aldi   13 years 43 weeks ago

I love Aldi. I was there the other day, and a German elderly lady approached me. She told me that Aldi's a regular grocery store in Germany. "People think it's a junk store: it is NOT!" :) I agree. Quality products in exchanged for hard earned money: what a bargain. I love the Fit products.

  • Budget Bride: 131 Savvy Ways to Cut Wedding Costs   13 years 43 weeks ago

Remember, the expensive fetes that weddings have become are largely a creation of marketers and merchants. People used to show up for regular church service in their Sunday best with a small handful of flowers and say their "I do's." Why did that change? You don't have to have an engagement ring--I didn't and I'm none the worse for it. We used the money to start our household together instead, and in 30 years I've never regretted the decision. You can have the wedding reception at home or in a park: your friends and family will love you just the same, and the memories will be just as warm. And a wedding doesn't have to be expensive to be romantic. In fact, nothing harms romance more than stress over money.

  • Budget Bride: 131 Savvy Ways to Cut Wedding Costs   13 years 43 weeks ago

I totally agree with #17. Eloping is not taboo at all anymore. We did it and had the most perfect wedding ever (for us!) for less than $250. (And no - this was not 20 years ago!) http://www.plantingourpennies.com/2012/06/11/what-did-our-wedding-cost/

Another friend had a "virtual ceremony" where she and her fiance flew off on their honeymoon, got married on location there where the hotel arranged a live webcast of the ceremony that all the family and friends could tune into to watch live.

Diversifying is really key to investing, and extremely important when making your investments. Not putting all your eggs in one basket can really help you profit consistently and through the future, diversifying between both high yield and higher risk investments as well as low risk but longer term investments is an excellent way to maximize profit over the long and short term !!!!

  • 5 Cheap International Vacation Destinations   13 years 43 weeks ago

I went to Turkey earlier this year, and it was much cheaper than I expected. Considering the dollar is more of value than the Turkish Lira, I lived like an king while in Istanbul. Also, the city is very historical, cultural, cheap, and has a thriving night life. Not to mention, it's the only city in the world to be placed in two continents (Europe/Asia). My plane ticket was only $500 roundtrip non-stop from NYC to Istanbul.

Buy my dog food when the supply place is having a % off everything sale. Groom my own dogs, including brushing teeth (Dawn dish detergent is a better choice than human shampoo, btw). Barter for free training.

  • 10 Steps to Update Your Look on a Budget   13 years 43 weeks ago

PSSSSHH to that bottom comment. I am a Mom and me being a Mom is why I have a hard time dressing up. I used to have that free time to get up, do my hair, wait for my favorite figure hugging top be washed and dried before I went out with my day. Now its jeans EVERYDAY and whatever tshirt is in my closet. Sadly, my whole closet is pretty much black and gray. The colors I have in there are horrible on me. Its not easy keeping up with fashion. I don't try too hard, better time and money spent elsewhere but I do believe in keeping my looks up to par and romancing my husband! Of course! I liked this article... I am working my way into buying more dresses instead of tops. I think I spend more on just wearing tops and jeans than I would if I got more dresses... might just be me! I'm too young to look frumpy already ;)
