My frugal tip is to recreate the atmosphere of a restaurant of home. I will put my son to be a little early and set the table with candles and flowers and turn the lights down low. IT is great to have a little time alone and it does not cost a whole lot!
Thanks for the chance to win! My best tip for V-day is to make dinner together. Something special with fancy ingredients, then eat it by candlelight. You can make a really cheap chocolate fondue with chocolate chips and cream and it tastes great.
OMG! This is one of my all time pet peeves. If you have scrap gold you do not want to sell it to a local pawn shop! They are going to offer you a fraction of what it is really worth.
There are others, this just happens to be the company I like dealing with. They have a sterling reputation and you will be paid very close to spot.
Yes you have to mail your gold to them and wait for them to do an assay. You will be paid based on that days spot price. But it's going to be well worth it. Besides, that's what insurance is for.
Last year I had 103 of good 14k to sell. I went to a local pawn shop to have it weighed and just to see what they would offer. They offered me $400 for all of it.
I had already called Hauser and knew what they would pay. Would you believe it was really worth over $1600.
Pawn Shops prey on the desperate and ill informed. Plan ahead and don't fall for what they have to offer.
My boyfriend and I are going to be staying in and making dinner together this year. ^_^ I'm not much of one for flowers, since they just die in a few days, so he wont be spending any money on roses or anything. Our 'gifts' to each other is our time together.
Valentine's Day is my parents' anniversary. They got married right after high school and are still going strong after 39 years (this year). They're my Valentine's inspiration. They never did fancy dinners out or gigantic bouquets of over-priced flowers. It was simple. A from-the-heart card, a kiss and a special homecooked meal. This year is my first Valentine's as a married woman. We're opting for a nice night in with a good steak, cheap wine and a movie. Oh... and the ultimate freebie... snuggling!
I give valentine coupons, like a free massage or doing dishes. its the thought that counts, this is a really easy way tell someone your thinking of them. and the cost is a piece of paper and a pen.
My best tip is to keep it simple. Make dinner something special, a rare treat you know they enjoy but don't always have. I love shrimp so my sweetie will make shrimp scampi for me.
My husband and I have pledged to not bother with flowers or gifts this year, and instead we're going to a nearby state park for Valentine's. It'll be cheap since we have a parks pass, and packed sandwiches go very well with fantastic scenery! Even with gas for the car, it'll be cheaper than dinner and a movie--not to mention healthier, more active, and a better memory for the photo album!
The coupon that we used most the last time we had one of these books was the grocery store coupons. The oil change coupons are great too!
Thanks!
Shannon
The best coupons I'm always sure to use are for grocery stores. There are also always some great ones on dry cleaning and restaurants. I haven't bought one for a few years, so I'd love to win!
I am an avid coupon user. I feel that the best coupons in the entertainment book are the auto service deals. Everyone has to take their car to an autoshop atleast once a year. For people like me, 10x a year. and it really helps out. Also I love tacobell. So thank god for those coupons:)
Start the day off with hugs and kisses.
Send a simple "just wanted to say I love you" text message during the day...maybe more than once!
Cook a new recipe for dinner and include a sweet dessert.
Cuddle on the couch and watch a romantic movie. Casablanca is a good standby.
Enjoy the time together!
Last V-Day after my fiance had made his lunch for work the next day, I snuck into his lunch bag and put in one of those little kid's valentine's and some special treats. He said it was a nice surprise in the middle of the day.
I absolutely love my Entertainment Book. We actually use a ton of the coupons. Id have to say our favorite is the pizza coupons. Normally its a buy one get one free and it always saves me like 10 to 15 bucks. The book is so well worth it. I never leave home without it!
we go cheap and just get our favorite burritos and queso and watch TV at home. saves money on drinks, tips, gas, and hassle of waiting in line for food). especially since this year V-day is a saturday!!!
My parents get an entertainment book every year as a gift and I would say that the best coupons are ones for restaurants that give you a free entree with the purchase of one. It's great for couples and also a quick way to make up the cost of the book itself.
I used to practice the best money saving tip EVER: break up before V-Day.
But now I've worked out a nice plan where we don't spend money on gifts or eating out, but instead we take a weekend trip somewhere to celebrate only the good part of V-Day - being together.

You want to sell it to the same people they are going to turn around and sell to such as Hauser and Miller Gold, www.hauserandmiller.com/company/index.html

For the family, it's a pretty table and anything red or pink and/or heart-shaped to eat (starting at breakfast)
Sometimes it is a tea as lovely as I can make it for those I care about.
I'm also giving one out on my blog here: http://baglady.dreamhosters.com
Your chances are better at my blog.
I love coupons! I liked the restaurant 2 for 1 coupons the best out of the entertainment book. Thanks!
