Helpful post. Now, I have an idea for my family. We will collect spare change in our personal piggy banks throughout the year, then make a deposit before the new year. Thanks for the post!
In Canada, we no longer have one and two dollar bills- we have coins called loonies and two-nies. So spare change adds up to some serious cash up here. I try to stash all my coin and have sometimes taken up to $400 in coin in at once.
Good review, and I'm looking forward to either winning or purchasing a copy. I just now hooked into this website from Slate.com, and I must admit, all that I've read here is pretty salient and useable.
Looking forward to the 9th (gee, that is, if I can wait that long!)
my daughter has a piggy bank that she uses to collect all the change around the house. it is very fun, it has accumulated over $500 in the past two years.
This book would just prove it to the rest of the world LOL. Heck, even in our wedding vows, part of my hubby promises were to be in-house tech support! I used to be just the goddess but then I became a geek too.
Despite the fact I am blogger I'm technically challenge. I love writing but have very little knowledge about technology. I just know that this fabulous little book would improve my non geek status.
Please universe I've been a good girl this year and deserve a little help.
I TRYED IT ON A OLD CD JUTS TO COME UP WITH IN VENTIONS AND ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL OF THE SCRATCHES CAME OF LIKE IF IT DISSAPEARED AND THIS IS NOT A JOKE IF YOU TRY IT ON A OLD CD IT WILL WORK GARANTEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This would be perfect for my mother. She's CONSTANTLY asking me how to do things on her computer. I wouldn't mind if she didn't live over 200 miles away and be almost comically inept at following directions over the phone.
I would love a copy! I'm a bookseller, and I promise, if I receive one of the giveaways, to order it for my store and match it to customers who might want it.
(I wasn't gonna enter this contest -- I would've just asked the publisher for a review copy, but it seems that we get their books from a US wholesaler, so sadly, no review copies are to be had. :-( )
I'm so happy to hear about this book - the "tech world" is something I definitely need to learn more about - I will be checking it out even if I don't win =)!
Finally, a solution to my problem! I would love to have this book. It may finally put me on par with my husband. He is definitely a Geek God, and I'm struggling to catch up.
All right. I would love to win this copy so I can give it to my friend. She is a geek and a geek goddess in the makings. Thanks for this contest. Keep up the great work folks.
I have a cute piggy bank, but there's no easy way to get the change out without breaking it. So we put our change into a big bowl. We use a credit card for most purchases (fully paid off every month!), so like you, we don't accumulate change very fast.
And even when we do have a pile of change, we don't cash it in very often. See, a common extended-family activity is nickel-dime-quarter poker games. So yes, I save my change for gambling. But if I lose, the money goes to family. And I've never lost more than $5 in one night. Believe me, the evening's entertainment value is well worth $5. More often the game converts my loose change into paper money winnings, which then just go into my wallet.
While I completely understand the rationale behind not having a cell phone, I am hooked on mine. My husband and I are on the same plan, which saves quite a bit of money, and do not have a landline at all. My work phone is for work matters only, and I never give out that number as a contact for family and friends.
I certainly understand not wanting to be leashed to one's contacts, but I usually leave my phone off and check it periodically throughout the day. Honestly, I'm much more chained to my email, which I check at least twice as often.
Just go with a great company that has a ton of shops. Like a couple of the other commenters, my company is BestMark also.

That sounds interesting!

I'm not afraid to admit I could use some help sorting it all out. Defining "it" would be a good place to start.
I'm no geek goddess but aspire to be one! I'd love to win this book.
Please enter me.
I am awesome and would like this book.
I'm a geek girl
I know there's someone in my life this book is for, though the kitsch value may be too much.

I could use this, as I know a little - not enough to actually do something useful, just enough to get into trouble.
I would love something like this, as a geeky-but-not-terribly-tech-savvy chick.
Would love to have a copy of this book! I'm about to be a stay at home mom & would love to know more about how to get more out of my computer!

The pennies sure are piling up though.
