I think I would have a problem eating things that were in a dumpster. But I do like the idea of not buying groceries. We currently are in that position as we are trying to eat perishable items before going on vacation so they do not go to waste.
Just double checking before I try this out! If I spray the inside of the can with regular spray paint, it wont rust? I love my homemade baby wipes, so I'm sure I'd keep these wipes by my sink and use them often! Thanks for sharing!
I opened up a roth IRA at the age of 17, I am now 19 and contribute about 30% of my paycheck towards it a month. If I work overtime, i contribute 50% of that income. I am able to contribute so much because I work full time, go to college, but still live with my parents. My dad got his degree in finances so he helped me get a head start. Once the day starts to go in, it will progressivly get a lot more. I checked last week and I made a profit close to $10,000 so a IRA is definately worth it.
quick question; I've newly acquired HSV1 and am in the throes of first outbreak misery, with lesions inside my mouth, horribly inflamed gums and more lesions on my tongue as well as on, under and surrounding my tonsils. I'm worried about spreading the viral load to the outside parts of my lips and rest of my face (via sleep dribble due to other symptoms; TMI, sorry); my thoughts are pre-emtive zovirax application (I'm in Australia so can get it OTC and reasonably priced; thoughts?
Thanks for posting this. I got an email that said they were sending me a card. I was totally confused. Now I'll just throw it in the burn barrel when it arrives. Thanks!
You have missed the REAL best juicers. Omega VRT350 would yield much quality juice compared to those you listed. It's a slow juicer 80rpm but doesn't mean its that much slower. Plus VERY easy to clean since you don't have to worry about sharp blades.
Great tips! Doing without unnecessary things for a week or a month really makes you realize how unimportant they are. I dumped cable a few years ago and now I don't even miss it. I don't just sit down and "see what's on" anymore. I look for something else to do, like reading or going out for a bike ride, before even thinking about turning on the TV.
Thanks for sharing these great links! I remember when I was younger in Girl Scouts they taught us how to cut fruits and make them last for our lunches, ect. It's been awhile since I actually cared about putting lemon juice on my cut apples, but recently I have been letting a lot of food go to waste and tips like this are great.
What an awesome article! Thank you! I love cleaning wipes. I use them for everything but I go through them so quickly and they aren't cheap to buy. This is a great idea!
...And some of the best meals in Montreal are the most affordable ones! Certainly choose a smoked meat sandwich, dill pickle, and cherry cola from Schwartz's Deli on St. Laurent. (The oldest deli in Canada.) There's enough delicious meat in that sandwich to make it your supper, and all for under $10.
I saw something like this for making baby wipes- I know it was a solution of diluted shampoo. Also you must use high quality paper towels (try Viva) or they will disintegrate.
I have owned the Breville BJE200XL Juice Fountain Compact for about 15 months and it is awesome!! I use it about 3-4 times a week and it is still going strong!
A great list, thanks! I know if you spread lime juice onto an avocado that's been sliced it will stop it from going "brown". I can't remember the scientific process behind it but it certainly works! I'll have a read of the others later, but for now it's all about groceries. The sad thing about veg (and I really do love vegetables) is how quickly they go off.
Another tip; remember, don't keep tomatoes or bananas in the fridge. They need to be kept at room temperature.
I'd rather use my credit card rewards for other things, personally. Unless you're just cashing in miles that you get on business trips, you're really trading cash for upgrades, anyway.
It's hard to tell from this article whether this is the case, but a lot of people who worship at the altar of "going green" get eye rolls and negative reactions from their friends because of their own sanctimony. What you do or don't do is your business, but your friends aren't your children--the only "teachable moments" are the ones in which they actually ASK for your advice, not the ones where you feel the need to give it unsolicited. Get off your high horse.
I use cottage cheese because I can use it for more than just lasagna, unlike ricotta. Less chance of waste this way. Since my husband likes ricotta better, I blend it with my stick blender and he can't tell the difference.
Wow, talk about really travelling on a budget. It still amazes me how you can travel full time for less money I would spend if I do the same! But thanks for sharing your adventures and the ways you see the world without spending a fortune.
Hydrogen peroxide can make you blind if it gets in your eyes!!!!!

Thanks for the mention. I didnt end up getting a refund this year, so nothing to spend wisely for me.

I <3 this hilarious meta comment.
Vinegar will kill salmonella, but needs to be warmed up to also hit listeria and e coli.
Yep! Business is much better. Hubby gets points, I get a ticket! Works for me!

This is AWESOME! Wicked idea Popsugar/Wisebread!
Small things, over time and added together, can make a big difference. Thanks for sharing!

These are NOT enough to sanitize a cooking surface. They won't prevent cross-contamination of food. I wouldn't recommend them for kitchen counter use.
