A note on enteric coatings: they exist for two reasons. In some cases the pills are coated because the medicine is destroyed by stomach acid; in others, it's because the medicine would damage the stomach lining if it were released too early.
So I would amplify your comment about cutting or breaking pills: if they're enteric-coated, you risk EITHER making the medicine useless, OR making yourself even sicker.
I gambled a little bit when we entered Reno, Nevada. It was so weird to see slots in the grocery store!
My hubby and I gambled a bit on the state lottery that provides college scholarships when our son was in college, we figured that was a win/win. The Hope scholarship sure helped us out with college costs.
I do, but it's not my money. My hubby and I take his mom a few times a year, and she gives us money. Sometimes I'll use some of it and keep the rest. I don't win good (hardly ever) which is why I'll keep some a lot of the time.
I like to gamble on a small scale - friendly, family card games, penny slots at a casino, raffles, enter sweeps ( cost of mailing & supplies to enter), occasional lottery ticket.
Laser printers. I've bought three working laser copier/scanner/fax/printers for $30 or less in the past year (one was full color), all from the same Goodwill store (and there's another in there right now). Two of them are at various desks at work, and one is at home next my PC. You'll also find lots of combination ink-jet printers, but unless all you need is the scanner, they're not worth the money. The trick is to test them: plug them in and try to make a copy. If you get that far, it's generally worth risking the printer interface. Many times, you'll even find that the toner cartridges are full or near-full.
Ties. Look for a pattern and/or style you like, and then check to see the maker and (generally) whether it's silk or not. Silk ties are generally of higher quality overall (there's an investment there). But these are, of course, style-specific. Suffice it to say I have a a nice rack of $2.50 ties that would have cost $30+ each when new.
I actually actively do *not* want to be rich. I'd love to not have to worry about money, but appreciable wealth I am not after.
At one point, I bought a brand new sports car. It was absolutely at the top of what I could "afford" at the time, barely, but I was 28 and I'd worked very hard for every scrap of anything I had, so I was very proud of it. If I was so wealthy that I could easily buy 10 cars anytime I wanted, there would be no "specialness" about any of it.
Now, a mere 7 years later, the economy hasn't been terribly kind - I have a family, an economy car and a house that is upside-down in value, but the bills are all paid every month at least. When I get rid of all the debt that my 20s snowballed into, THEN I will feel truly rich.
I gamble just a little bit - a game of Hold'em poker with the boys every 2 weeks. $10 buyin, no re-buys. Sometimes I win ($40-70 depending on number of players), sometimes I lose, but coupled with bringing a sixpack it's an amount of money I am willing to spend on an entertaining evening and it's far cheaper than the bars, movies, etc around here.
My thoughts exactly. I do dream of becoming rich but I know that in reality, there's a very, very slim chance that I'll end up being filthy rich. Not unless I win in the lottery, which is even more unlikely since I don't buy lottery tickets. I do strive to work hard to live more comfortably.
Lotto scratch-off tickets are my guilty pleasure! I buy a $5 card every Friday, just for grins. Even if I don't win I try to get $5 worth of cheap thrills!
I don't really gamble - I do play the lottery every once in a while

yes, I invest in the stock market. $100 a month.
I like Wisebread on FB~
No! I think gambling is a waste of money. Since I don't like the atmosphere of casinos anyway, it's not a form of entertainment to me.
Use to gamble before kids....

We stimulate the Georgia education system by buying $5 or $10 in lottery tickets anytime we drive over from Alabama.
Every now and then a scratch-off lottery ticket provides a dollar's worth of fun imagining what you'd do if you won.

No gambling for me. I played the lottery in the past, but no more. It's a losing game.

I gamble ocassionally. I like lotto tickets around the holiday season and going to the casino a couple times a year and that's pretty much it LOL! ;)
I never gamble. Life is uncertain enough without adding to it!
