I have been reading through the 839 posts throughout the day and don't recall an asking of, or answer to, this question: How long can the fermentation process be allowed to go? I started a sugar, water and baker's yeast fermentation batch in a 16 qt, stainless steel pot a couple days ago but find that I am going to be gone for the next two or three weeks for work. Should I just bail the batch now and start again when I get back? I'm hopeful that I'll just have a fully fermented must that's ready to distill.
Best regards and many thanks for all the insights and reassurance that I'l not be having to by a white cane before this process is completed.
I'm motivated to save so I can splurge later. I stay motivated by making future plans and booking vacations after I reach certain goals. (I don't use the money I save on these vacations of course, but I allow myself to have them each time I hit a certain amount in my savings accounts.) I want to make sure I'm prepared when I have an unexpected big expense because I refuse to borrow.
That is just amazing that you can continue to travel around the world constantly for so little. Kudos to you for sure! I feel like this would only be able to be accomplished as a single person though; once you get into having to feed, house, and transport more than one person it can seem like a much bigger hassle than just one person. Perhaps I am wrong- I'd love to get your opinion on that.
Also, just the fact that you can travel with so little belongings is what impresses me the most I think. Do you just buy clothes and wear them out until you need new ones? How do you accommodate for extreme weather differences (like from Russia to Grenada)?
What motivates me save is hopefully purchasing a home some day soon. So were putting money away little by little and investing smartly. Fingers crossed maybe we will be there soon :)
These are some good suggestions. I agree with Meg that the getting rid of distractions is a huge thing, at least for me personally. I can get a lot of things done at once if I need to, but outside distractions can kill my concentration and get me out of my work zone. I'm not sure if I would ever necessarily need to use the timer trick since I am already habitually a time saver and always early to things, but it's not a bad idea. And I definitely already do the pre-planning in the evenings. I know myself well enough to know that I have a horrible memory, so whenever I think of anything I need to do or buy later I make a memo of it in my phone. It has been extremely helpful to me since I started a few months ago.
Do you have any extra suggestions about how to stay on task when you are in an unfamiliar environment, like traveling? I find that is the hardest time for me to stay on task.
I am motivated to save because I know that when I
put my head on the pillow at night to go to sleep, I
will sleep so much better knowing that I have a cushion
against financial emergencies because I saved rather
than spent!
as well there are people with allergies to wheat, barley, oats, gluten, and rye.. I don't have celiac but I am highly allergic to wheat and gluten (confirmed with blood tests) so I would greatly appreciate a gluten free cookbook.... one that contains italian, mexican, spanish dishes would be awesome, as well as just regular american dishes.... anything and everything really - I lived 43 years always feeling sick and had a major allergic reaction last year that put me in the hospital and once I was released I swas sent straight to the allergist, they did extensive testing and found out I was allergic to a ton of foods... now I avoid them like the plague but I miss burritos, a good chimichanga, pizza and pasta. My husband is italian and we are both foodie snobs so finding goog gluten free food can be hard and any help from cook books that target gluten free recipes is greatly appreciated.
Although I understand why each of these things can help someone wake up in the morning, I personally find being jolted awake in the morning not only makes my morning more irritable, but I feel like I actually lose sleep. I've gotten to the point where I can't find an alarm tone that is quiet enough so I usually just use my phone on vibrate! I realize that is a rarity (I am an extremely light sleeper), but in general, it seems as though an abrupt entrance to each morning would get, for lack of a better word, exhausting. I do really like the suggestions of refreshing smells, drinking cold water, and simply preparing for your day the night before. Have you smelled the awake scents from Bath and Body Works (not their actual brand, but a product they carry in large stores) that are tangerine lime? It is so fresh smelling and really does have an invigorating quality.
At the beginning of each new year, I make a list of goals. Each time I complete one, I cross it off the list. It motivates me to save for a goal and see it crossed off makes me feel good. An accomplishment that is finally done.
Money is power - I'm motivated to save because with higher net worth, one acquires more power, more opportunities, more financial freedom. Chances are, I'll never need to use all my savings to save the day or get out of some life-and-death situation, but it's still nice to be prepared.
I know that people are living longer and that retirement funds are not keeping up. I'm motivated to save so that I can be comfortable in my retirement.
My husband and I want to buy/build a house some day. Our "code" is "Canyon House" whenever we need to remind ourselves why we don't want to buy that little thing we want.
I save because my Grandmother grew up during the depression and she taught me that you never know when you will have nothing. I save to avoid this problem and to take care of my family by myself
I have a policy my parents got for me in 1966 for a thousand dollars. They both have passed away and I have already given my body to science when I die. How much is my policy worth and how do I cash it in?

i'm always saving for the next bad thing that will happen
I'm motivated to save right now to pay off my car loan and to give a gift to my mom to help her fund a trip.

Having to pay for private school for the next six years so that my daughter can be successful

For simple peace of mind!

Hello I want to know if it is safe for a girl to travel this one by herself. Cheers

My motivation for saving is to be able to enjoy all of the things I want in life. YOLO, you only live once!
Saving is one way to be a great steward. I dont want to spend hard earned money on interest for something I could save up to buy.
I have a policy my parents got for me in 1966 for a thousand dollars. They both have passed away and I have already given my body to science when I die. How much is my policy worth and how do I cash it in?
My family, especially the future of my daughter motivates me to save. In addition, saving money is good for the environment and world in general.
did i completely miss it or is there not something used for spiders?
What motivates me to save is the freedom I will have when I no longer owe on my school loans. I will no longer be a slave!
