sorry here is a longer comment. I loved the instant mashed potatoes and brown gravy. You can add some garlic and cheese to it if you want to satisfy your taste buds but its cheap and saves you lots of time as well.
I figure they ten-tuple the bill because they figure they'll just sell it to a collection agency for ten cents on the dollar. So they do something worth $100, charge you $1000, sell it to a collection agency for the $100 they wanted in the first place.

Yes, most credit unions are limited to a specific "field of membership", however, it could include a large geographic area; for instance my credit union serves all of Harris County TX (3rd most populous county in the US). Especially for DVDs, CDs, and video games, it helps to compare the prices from Amazon sellers and Ebay. Setting up a meeting with a craigslist seller can be a lot more painful than simply having an item shipped to you.
My favorite Thanksgiving food is sweet potatoes. They can be eaten baked (with butter & brown sugar) with Thanksgiving dinner and then made into a variety of casseroles after the holiday!
My girl friend just organized a clothing swap and everyone who went scored big and had an absolute blast. A great way to get "new" items without the price tag!
Your article made me laugh, because what you are saying is so true! I know too many people who start towards a goal like this, or dieting or exercising or whatever only to try and change too much too fast and completely fall off their "new way of life" wagon. Baby steps towards lasting change is a much better way of succeeding.
Big lover of Craigslist here! I recently purchased a condo and it needed a new kitchen faucet. I found a brand new one on Craigslist for 20 bucks that normally sells for over $100. The guy who sold it to me had just bought a brand new house and he works for a competing brand of faucet, so he had those installed in his new house and wanted to get a little money out of the ones he took out. Man, I love a good bargain!
Everyone in our family loves mashed potatoes and we never have leftovers. Even though the price of potatoes has gone up quite a bit, it's still an economical side dish.
Great advice! We just had our house on the market, and we received lots of positive feedback on our house regarding our staging. We went through our house, cleaned up the clutter and many of our personal photos so that people could picture themselves (not just us :) living in the house, and arrange and rearranged the furniture until every room had a good flow and maximized the space. We definitely recommend staging to show off your house to its greatest advantage!

It is shocking to me how some people put absolutely no preparation into selling their house. My neighbors are a prime example. House is 3000 square feet, but loaded with pink carpet and paneling. They are asking a ridiculously high price for the house too, I just don't get it. No curb appeal either.
If you are going to expect top dollar in this market, your house better be special!
Without a doubt, the best dish on a budget is anything with sweet potatoes. My family doesn't like the sweet potato dishes with marshmallows - they like it mashed and with butter and salt. This makes it an even cheaper dish!
I KNOW! It's not only appalling how some people LEAVE their properties, but even more gross when you think how people have been LIVING! My grandparents are landlords, and they've had to clean up some pretty nasty messes.
I've only looked at houses as a renter, but I'm amazed by how some people leave their properties and still expect people to want to live in them. I toured one house that looked like the tenants had bolted in the night -- trash strewn everywhere, a calendar still on the wall. Another house seemed nice and clean enough, until you got to the basement -- people had broken in and tagged it with spray paint.
I love my job because I get paid to take care of dogs and cats, which I love. I love the people I work with and have the oppurtunity to learn new things daily. Some parts of the day are the same, but when I walk in the door, I never know what I'm going to walk into.
