Keep it simple and stay on task.. I believe the most effective people can sift through all the fluff, identify the root cause of a problem and then implement solutions quickly. Most of us waste valuable time when making decisions and this can lead to unintended consequences.
I'd like to tell you that all these acquisitions have been said before by the government in Egypt, reading that they have been repeated in USA makes me expect to hear Obama very soon saying that America is not Egypt or Tunisia. Please support the people defending your rights and don't leave them alone. You deserve a better economy not an economy of war as America used to for decades. another idea is to use an ice cream scoop to scoop washing powder to put into the washing machine, thats what i do, very handy and helpful when i was only going to throw it away recently as i dont often buy ice cream.
I eat out once every two months - I am a single mom, a teacher in Wisconsin ( lost about 10%) of my pay to Scott Walker regime...and that is only the start - I can see going to twice a year soon.

First off NO Realtor should give advice out of the area of expertise and even then it must be qualified with, "It is an educated guess". These articles are getting sillier and sillier. I am a Realtor and I tell my clients that I have no idea what your home will sell for. I present what comparables have sold and what the available competition is. I always include my clients in everything from marketing materials and verbage to agrreing to a realistic price "range". I am not a fortune teller nor do I have a crystal ball.
I personally many many Realtors who operate the same. One story...one opinion does not make a good story...sheesh.

It is okay and good to splurge now and then on special occasions (birthdays, anniversarys, etc) as long as you have extra money to do that and you aren't blowing your budget and/or going in debt. Planned splurges work well in that you feel like you are getting something above and beyond but without the guilt of blowing your budget.
Our household currently has 6 refurb Sansa players and 2 refurb Nook Colors. All were in great shape and continue to work perfectly. Saved about $400 vs new. All had free shipping to boot.

I use a project line up with a "trigger" or "promoting" method so I can move a project forward as far I can at that moment - with full focus on that project. I have lined up multiple triggers that are waiting to move the next project as far as I can with full focus to that project. Place them in the order of your choosing.

Some states are non-recourse (after the sale no recourse can be taken), unless they take you to judicial foreclosure. Most banks file a notice of default. I'm sure you've talked with a good attorney about that before you stopped paying the mortgage.
The banking pendulum has swung to the opposite side, they won't loan money to anyone. You can get a car loan for $60,000 in thirty minutes, it takes 40 days to get a home loan for the same amount with a high credit score and 20% down.
I was able to buy my home and pay it off in a few years. And, it's actually worth quite a bit more than I paid for it. I made a conscious effort to pay as I go and tackled no additional debt. We didn't overbuy or buy a fixer upper (almost always a money pit). My wife and I had quite a bit of experience with builders, so we knew what to look for and a reputable home inspector (even for a new home).
So many younger home buyers have no idea what they are doing, I've thought many times about doing some consulting work for buyers. Home ownership is such an emotional experience they let the idea of buying a home overshadow the facts.
Try a plunger i had a dent about as big is my hand spreaded 3/4 wide. I tried a plunger and the first three time no suction but when i got good sucction out came the dent you can bareley tell it's even there. i know everybody got a plunger so it don't cost you a dime.Takes less than one minute!

- Hanging out with friends

Well, now's my turn to give you a leg up." And number 2) Book sales are my weakness. When there are books piled up for $.50-$2 I just have to go through each one buying every book I think will be good for a family member, homeschooling my kids, giving to anyone I think a certain book reminds me of, or pleasure reading at night as a family.
Here is a shameless plug but an easy way to make money. Ever try getting your money back from the Govt? The Govt. has $32 Billion in people's money and most people don't know about it. You could have 100s or even 1000s of dollars with the govt.

As I approach forty, I am happy to say that I still have a lot of fun, but do it within a budget that keeps my expenses and savings in line.
I am in complete agreement with you. There are no guarantees in anymore. Not in job security, goverment funded programs nor in investments...which we have all felt in the last two years. Taking control of your revenue streams is the only way you are going to have any hope of security. All of my "eggs" are definitely not in one basket.

Just GIVE the money to the person asking for it and don't expect it to be repaid - if you can afford it and don't care, it won't be a problem. But remember, this is the end of the friendship - they are now embarrassed to have asked you. If you don't want to loan the money, just tell them you're having a tough time and would give it if you could. If you're rich and they know it, consider the friendship ended. I'm not saying to be friends with your economic status but this will solve the problem.
