In my younger days I ate out probably 3-8 times per week. Now, we only eat out when my wife and I are together. For the past few months (since we started our new budget), we have been eating out once per week on average. This is usually on the weekend for a special breakfast or lunch out.
I purchase my seafood from my local Farmer's market. We have a Lousiana seafood company that catches fish from the Gulf on Thursday and drives to Nashville, TN to sell freshly caught fish (on ice), live crawfish, and other items from Lousiana. Since they started selling fish in the market, I stopped purchasing fish in the grocery store as we are a land locked state. It is by far, the BEST, BEST, fish I have ever eaten.
There is a dairy farm in Kentucky that brings milk, eggs, and bread for sale to the Farmer's market as well on Saturdays. I do not buy milk in the store any longer. There is something to be said of buying low heat pasteurized milk in glass bottles.
Again, by far, the best products. I agree, there are certain items to be wary of. Especially, the products on the tables when you first walk into the market
My family and I eat out about twice a month. Once just the hubby and I on our monthly date nights and then once with the kids - usually the local McD's with an indoor playground for those bad-weather days when they need to get out of the house.
My wife just picked up a brand new superhero costume for our 5-year old at Goodwill for $8. It was fast, inexpensive, and he loves it. We're just hoping he'll be willing to change out of it by the time school starts tomorrow.

My fiance and I made a rule to only eat out once a week to save money, and we save that for the weekend. We normally stick to it, but sometimes we have an occasional lunch or breakfast out too.
We started to make a difference when we made paying our credit cards off as goal number 1. We ate, slept and thought of paying this off and nothing else and we are so glad we did because we can sleep well without having that horrible feeling of waking up at 3am with the worries of the world on your mind.
thanks for the site. Just a question... I have been making wine for a few years years now and would like to pass it through a still... would plum wine then come out as a plum vodka once passed through?
Sorry if it sounds a bit thick, I'm just wondering if flavour survives the distillation or just pure alcohol comes out....
ok so i found this recipe that is 5lbs of sugar 5lbs of sweet feed 1lb of yeast and i followed the steps it has which is adding boiling water to the sweet feed and sugar so that the the sugar dissolves then adding warm water to almost top off the bucket then i added my yeast at the right temp...after all that it says to put the lid on it and leave the screw on cap in the lip loose and 4-5 days later its "ready to run"...what does "ready to run mean"? it seems impossible for it to be ready to run because around here that means ready to sell and drink anyone have any advice???
It depends on the coupons I can find, especially if there are just two people - sometimes with a buy one get one free it is not much more expensive than it would be to fix the same thing at home and I don't have to do dishes afterwards.
Erm, does ordering in count as eating out? We hardly ever eat out as we're really good at cooking and see it as time to spend together! If we order in it's probably at most, once a week. Woop Woop!
I generally eat out about 2 times a week, most often for lunch to catch up with friends and family. I find that lunch is a bit easier on the pockets. But I do go to coffee out frequently, also easier on the pockets but boy does it add up!
We (family of 4 adults) eat out once every 2 weeks spending about $25. We have revised this figure to keeping the amount well under $20. We are considering changing this to once every 3 weeks.
I agree 100% with your response. A house is an investment. The banks can't guarantee that your house will go up in value. Perhaps if people lived within their means, there would not be so many foreclosures. Also, to encourage people to live "rent free" at the expense of the mortgage companies is immoral. Funny, how when prices of homes kept increasing, everyone was so fond of the banks for giving so many people the chance to own a home. Now when the artificial values of the homes have dropped, everyone says how wicked the banks are. The banks were forced to lend money to people who could not afford to pay back the loans and now the banks are being punished for giving high risk loans to those people.

I eat out about once a week or once every other week. It's almost always on the weekend, usually after church on Sunday.
More often than I'd like. I'd say a few times a week all summer.

We usually just eat out on special occasions, but more often in the summer when we are out later and don't get home in time to cook.
