I eat out at least once on the weekend with my wife, and twice during the work week with my co-workers. I try to plan it out so that I brown-bag my lunch the rest of the week with leftovers.
It used to feel like a drag to always bring/eat leftovers, but I find that it is becoming more enjoyable. I think it also helps to get away from your desk and some fresh air -- in my case, I've been eating lunch outside and loving it (plus, it seems to make me more productive overall).
Good article and i agree with the information. On number 10 though, a parting gift should be more substantial than 6 cookies. If I just saved you $200.00 a night in hotel costs and you are in my home for a few days eating my food, using my vehicle, electricity etc., the gift should have a little more impact. For instance on my last stay with friends, we treated them to a broadway show and a nice dinner on the town. Guaranteed we will be welcomed back, and have been. For 6 cookies, I will let you know what hotels are nice to stay at next time you come to town. People often underestimate what a host goes through to put up someone for a few days to a week. Its a lot of time, money, energy and hopefully joy!
For those looking for a DVR option, there's always Sezmi, which is available in some markets. It has a one-time cost for equipment, but it's only $5 a month to record over-the-air broadcasts. I've looked into this and am waiting for the service to become a bit more robust and reliable. Otherwise, there is a DVR recorder available through Amazon that only incurs a one-time cost (but, it's not particularly tech savvy and seems to work similar to a VCR did for recording shows back in the day).
For us, the big problem with cutting the cable cord is losing ESPN and some cable shows on FX (otherwise, Hulu Plus carries most Comedy Central and FX programs we enjoy). My husband can't live without ESPN and there's no way to access online content and stream it to your TV unless you have a Xbox (we're a PS3 family).
I eat out once a year - on my birthday. And that's when my father takes the family out to eat. I wouldn't pay that much for food that I can cook at home for a fraction of the price!

I probably eat out no more the three times a month. I don't go anywhere that will break my budget. I tend to pick something that I don't typically make at home so that it's a fun treat and adds variety to my routine.
We spent a very modest amount on an interior designer / feng shui expert (less than every one of the ideas listed above). She helped us reorganize our furniture that has made a HUGE difference in the feel of our home. So, before spending money on stuff, consider paring down your belongings and reorganizing the flow of your rooms.
Sounds like you would get plum brandy instead. You will not get much of the flavour to carry over. If you have a column still, take out all the packing so it does not come out so clean and pure. An old pot still would do you better here. If you leave the pulp in your wine as you make it, then leave it in the bottom of the still, heat it up slow and leave lots of headroom. This will bring more of the flavour with it. Once you have finished, use some wine to cut it. You can age it on some de-pitted plums, but probably not.
Ready to run thru the still. You are making a rum. Be very careful. Some sweet feeds have more 'fiber' then others. Grain husk are the filler they use on some. The best would be big chunks of crushed corn and grains, covered in molasses. Pull off the upper layer, the clearest. Use that in the still. You will have trubs left over, the used grains. You can add a couple more handfuls of feed and 5 pounds of sugar, top off with warm water and let it take off again. The taste will get better as you go do this over and over. About 10 times is the limit. You will have to start removing the trub to make room, of course.
You guys do not know what you are talking about...for one thing people at one time could afford their house but then lost their jobs or got ill or went into a loan mod trial and didnt quilify and the bank escrowed their taxes 2 1/2 year to make it impossibe to pay their moprtgage. There are lots of reasons why but not because of what you guys think. STOP judgeing people because no one is immune to this and you can find your selves in this situation one day. Be fair and wish thses people well because the banks are making out like a bandit!!

We eat out 2 to 3 times a week, depending on the week if it was good or crazy. We also use coupons to save money.
